These images were captured in the exercise yard of my Quarantine hotel over the last few days using the A7C + the Compact kit lens (28-60), the FE 1.8/20 and the FE 1/8/85. If you want to see any EXIF data from these images just head over to the album on my Flickr Pro account: https://flic.kr/s/aHsmRDfroE

I am currently putting together the next seminar that deals with gear I intend to use when I want to travel very light (post COVID).

Nice story line series! That 28-60 kit lens has my interest as a walk around lens and it looks pretty sharp at 28mm. Have you experimented with it at other focal lengths? Any other thoughts/observations on that lens would be as always much appreciated.

This Flickr Album has examples taken at a range of focal lengths. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmRMA7EW - Please note that most of these images have been captured with a high ISO setting so won't look as fabulous as images captured at ISO 640 or lower - especially if viewed on a large 4K monitor.

My A7C with the kit lens arrived today. Super lightweight and compact. The lens 'parks' into the body by rotating the zoom all the way to one side. That's different (for me anyway). The Viewfinder/Monitor auto switch seems to function differently than the A7iii/iv or A9ii. It appears to be a photocell right next to the Viewfinder. I think the other cameras I mention use Capacitance to detect your head moving there (not sure about that). Anyway, I'm finding when I have the sun right behind me to my right, it can blind that sensor and prevent the camera from switching to the Finder. I wonder if this is operator error or if you're noticing this too. Not a huge deal as we can deal with the switch manually. Great little camera.

On the other full-frame cameras the eye detection sensor is at the top of the Finder cut into the rubber eyepiece. On the A7C it is to the right of the Finder and much more noticeable due to the lack of a detachable rubber eyepiece. Because I have been in quarantine since receiving the camera I have not been able to test the camera in a broad range of sunlit situations as the exercise yard only had a small patch of sunlight in one corner of the yard. I will test this issue out next week to see if there is any solution to what you have experienced. I am hoping with the arrival of the C concept that sony will release additional compact zooms and some very small primes.
