The A7C essentially has the same sensor as the A7III but it has benefitted from a number of key updates. These include AF Tracking instead of the older Lock-On AF and the ability to combine AF Tracking with Animal Eye AF (also available on the A9 and A9 II cameras).

I do not intend to use the A7C with large telephoto zooms (small primes only) so used the FE 135 F/1.8 GM prime with its dual linear AF motors to capture this pup on the beach yesterday afternoon. If the 135 GM is a little too large for some then I would recommend the Zeiss Batis 2.8/135 as it is also excellent at tracking fast action and is significantly lighter than the Sony GM.

If you can't get close enough to the action you can always crop from 24 MP down to 8.3 MP (6000 pixels down to 3840) or use APS-C mode.

Setting were ISO Auto, ISO Auto Min SS. 1/2000 second, f/2.8, AF Tracking: Zone

Reliability of AF Tracking was what I would expect from using an A9 but I have always had  consistently good results when using the FE 135 GM to capture fast action.
