Great Q&A Session! Your excitement about this new model came through loud and clear, my excitement level is off the charts as well!

Great session! Look forward to Mark’s review!

Hopfully, Mark, since the menu is different you will consider doing a Movie for the A1 like you did for the A73 ,I believe it was. That was a step by step how you set up dial 1,2,a d 3 and buttons etc., and all the WHYs. That is so helpful for thoes of us who are more visual learning and newer with Sony. Besides you are easy to listen to. Thank you though ahead of time what ever you decide in the future to share.

Mark, do you know where I can find a list of lenses that can shoot 30 FPS? I have the list that can shoot 20.

Mark Galer

I will start researching this one - I have my hands full at the moment with 3 or 4 reviews I am preparing. Checking to see if the lens has XD Linear Focus Motors will be the first step. Non-Sony lenses will have to be tested by Non-Sony Ambassadors as each will have to be tested individually rather than referring to specs.

Nice to hear from you. I am very much excited about your revies about the Alpha -I.

For myself the 30fps is a nice to have capability that I will of course try out shortly after I unbox my A1 and use if really needed in the future. The 20fps of the A9ii is amazing and I’ve never thought once that I needed more FPS. I’ve had to really work on my light touch and attentiveness to my shutter finger! After my first couple of outings with my A9ii cranked up to max FPS I couldn’t believe how many images I had to review! 😳So many duplicates, it was quite the time sponge. When your,’re concentrating on your subject it’s very easy to forget your still pressing the shutter, there is a small visual indicator in the evf that you’re still capturing images but I’ve found it easy to miss/forget that little indicator. Mark, do you know if that indicator is the same in the A1 or did they improve that as well? What I’m really looking forward to is the improved crop factor the new sensor will enable on fast moving subjects and the increased focusing speed, and that 9.4 million dot EVF!

Mark Galer

30 fps will be useful if you are shooting bat and ball sports where the ball needs to be near the racket or bat. Even at 20 fps you can miss the ball if you are unlucky. You can move through the frames quickly if you build the standard previews before you start reviewing and stay in the Library module rather than the Develop Module. You Should only enter the develop module when all the images are rated. I won't know any specifics on the new camera that were not outlined on the website or in the launch video. The camera arrives in just over 36 hours so things will become clearer soon.

I use Photo Mechanic to download my images, so much quicker than LR. You can start reviewing whilst the images are downloading. Colour code and rate them, I then import them to LR (latterly CaptureOne). The ratings and colour codes will all transfer. Saves so much time. Essential software in my opinion since getting my A9 and photographing a lot of very fast moving dogs. I only take the keepers into my library now.
