I have just updated my Alpha 9II camera to the Version 3.00 Firmware.

Benefits include:

  • Adds the Crop function to allow you to crop a recorded still image
  • Adds the Forced File No. Reset option in the File/Folder Settings (still image) menu to allow you to reset the still image file number and create a new folder

If you are updating via a Mac computer you will need to install the Sony Camera Driver before starting the updater. The CameraDriver is listed as compatible for OS Catalina and Big Sur (Mac OS 10.14, 10.15, 11). Apple Mac's Silicon chips (M1) are not yet supported.

After updating the camera I was able to successfully restore my Saved Settings from the A9II version 2.00 camera settings file I have previously shared via Patreon.

The saved Shooting memories for 1,2 and 3 were loaded automatically via the Save/Load settings menu and I did not have to  load them separately from the M1 to M3 data files on the card (as was the case with previous firmware versions).
