Alpha One SteadyShot (Patreon)

You may have seen some posts on various forums about SteadyShot issues using the A1 camera so I thought I would weigh in on this discussion.
Unfortunately many users focus on the problem rather than the solution or question their current workflows. SonyAlphaRumors.com posted a video from someone who documented the problem. At the end of the video the guy mentions that you cannot replicate the problem using a Sony lens with SteadyShot or if you have selected Movie Mode on the Shoot Mode dial. https://youtu.be/HkfyXUcW0D0?t=455
Sony allows for different camera settings to be used as you switch between Movies and Stills. This is important as Pro quality capture of Movies and Stills require very different settings. Pressing the Movie button (as was used in the video) skips the workflow that Sony intended Professional users to adopt (moving the Shoot mode dial between PASM and Movies). The workflow outlined in the video also avoids the Touch Focus workflow - touch to lock and move Focus or touch to enable tracking. I would also point out that the guy who posted the video will have been switching between stills with a shutter speed around 1/4000 second to shooting movie clips with a shutter speed of 1/4000 second. basically I would not want this guy to be shooting video clips at a wedding of anyone I know as video clips captured at 1/4000 second will look choppy rather than flow smoothly (an ND filter is required).
Some may expect Sony to alter the behaviour of the camera so it can be used for non-professional workflows. I personally expect users who purchase a Pro camera to adjust their workflows if they encounter an issue. I personally would expect a Pro photographer covering a wedding to be using two bodies - one set up for Movies with ND filters and another for stills unless you are prepared to compromise the quality of either the movies or the stills.
