This video is by Gary Friedman who co-authored the 'problem solving' eBook with me. I like Gary's positive attitude. When others are seeking to find problems Gary is finding solutions. He also digs deep to fully understand every menu item including unpacking the new Live View Display options, e.g., Shooting > Live View Display Settings > Flash Effect dur Shutter.  https://youtu.be/T4B-mtPnsS0?t=504

Number 15 is his solution to the Monitor to Finder switching issue: https://youtu.be/T4B-mtPnsS0?t=849 - Gary says it's a strange one to complain about because he likens the camera to a Ferrari and then complaining about the glove compartment. His fix requires a small piece of tape over half the eye sensor. My solution was to use a larger eyecup or to set the Auto Monitor off set to 2 seconds when you are working with the sunlight over your right shoulder and then half-press the shutter release when the camera is at your eye to activate the Finder.

15 Things about Sony's A1 You Probably Didn't Know

Gary Friedman, author of the best-selling book on this camera, talks about the 15 important things about the Alpha 1 you wouldn't have known if you had only read online reviews. (Which is ironic in a way, since this is an online review.) You can read more about the book at Gary's website, www.FriedmanArchives.com/A1 . This references an earlier video which talks about how difficult it is to autofocus with the lens stopped down. You can find that video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlBWL_UVUS8 The 15 things discussed in this video are: 1) New assignable functions to control wheels 2) 14-bit RAW all the time. (Not just in certain continuous shooting modes.) 3) Touch-to-focus when controlling with smartphone or with tethered shooting. (This feature has been missing for many years.) 4) 1/500th of a second flash sync speed when in APS-C mode. 5) New "Light" Image Quality Setting 6) Variable shutter function 7) Phase Detect AF at f/22 (okay, you would have known that from online reviews. It's still technically difficult.) 8) LA-EA5 works with screw-drive Minolta A-mount lenses. 9) You can shoot 4K in APS-C mode. 10) Proxy videos can be full HD. 11) Preview Flash images in continuous shooting mode. 12) Some Focus Areas have been renamed. 13) Up to 4x throughput via Wi-Fi (compared to previous cameras) 14) Flexible Exposure Mode 15) EVF Auto Switch not reliable (NOTE: fixed in Firmware v1.10).
