Winter Solstice in the Southern Hemisphere (Patreon)
Content
This image of my home city was captured on the shortest day (Winter Solstice) 10 minutes before sunrise. I have created images from this vantage point before, but the view varies greatly depending on the weather. I usually head down if a storm front is moving towards the city or on days where there is no wind. The still waters of the bay did not last long. You can see from the sunrise shot below that the waters are already troubled by the very slight breeze that was picking which steal away the reflections. The images were captured with the Sony A1 using the FE 135 F1.8 GM and 85mm F1.8 prime lenses. I was using Freewell Magnetic ND filters (ND 64 and ND 8) and the Sony Bluetooth Remote.
Some find it hard to get out of bed an hour before sunrise on cold mornings but the peace and tranquility that can be found at this time of the morning is food for the soul.
The image above appears in the Raw files I have recently shared for Premium Patrons to practice their post production editing workflows (the topic of a future seminar)
