Medium Format vs Full Frame: Battle of the Formats (Patreon)

This Seminar is a discussion about the relative merits of medium format cameras versus Full Frame cameras. Back in 2011, when Sony introduced the first backlit illuminated full frame sensor in the A7RII, we had a state of affairs where full-frame cameras were outperforming $45,000.00 medium format digital backs (that money didn't even buy you the camera) in many of the performance categories. When Sony put the A7RII sensor in the RX1R compact camera the situation looked even worse for medium format - a pocket camera outperforming the best Medium Format cameras from Phase One and Hasselblad. Sony, however, took the unusual step of making some modern CMOS medium Format sensors which put them back on top (albeit by a slim margin). This allowed the Medium Format cameras to use high ISO values and score much higher in the Sports Category that DXOMark use in their testing to create a sensor ranking. I would, however, like to point out now (and in the video seminar) that using a medium format camera to shoot sports would require a brave or misguided individual.
FujiFilm have breathed new life into the medium format with their GFX cameras released in 2021 so I thought it was a good time to provide you with the state of play (as I see it).
This is the second seminar I am releasing this month as Melbourne is in the grips of its seventh long COVID-19 Lockdown and I have been unable to offer live presentations for Sony Australia (something I am contracted to do). I will have to release a second seminar from the Patreon archives for public viewing, so I am making this second seminar available this month to Patrons.
