DOWNLOAD LINK: Digital Photography: Essential Skills eBook 

First published by Focal Press in 1999 under the title Location Photography and was designed to be an academic text for college students. The books proved popular (it was translated into many languages) and by the time the fourth edition was published, the title had changed to Digital Photography: Essential Skills.

When the book was finally out of print, the copyright reverted to me as the owner of the intellectual property. I updated the chapters in 2020 (replacing any outdated information) and made them available as an eBook.

This is a 40-page Problem Solving Guide I created with Gary Friedman. It is designed to answer some of the questions that are frequently asked by Alpha owners on the photography forums.

This 55-page illustrated eBook shows you how to organise and manage your photos using Lightroom Classic. As a former Adobe Ambassador I have a great deal of experience using Lightroom as my Imaging Catalog Software of choice.

Many people refer to this subject as 'Colour Science' but the actual term is called Colour Management. Adobe introduced ICC Colour Management to their software back in 1998 which is why we now have a working space colour profile called Adobe RGB 1998 on most interchangeable lens cameras. Although this can be an incredibly confusing subject once it has been implemented you don't really have to worry about colour accuracy after this has been done.

If you don't print or hand files to commercial clients you may not need much of the information provided in this eBook. Perhaps the thing I find most difficult to comprehend is why so many imaging professionals don't understand this information or don't even know these workflows exist.
