Better late than never ...After borrowing this lens twice for review purposes (and then not getting around to doing the review) I finally decided to add this lens to my personal camera kit and finally put out my review for this lens.
I also own Sony's FE 135 f/1.8 GM which is undoubtedly the sharpest lens of the four that I mention in the video review, so if you own a megapixel monster and the extra weight does not deter you then the GM would be my recommendation.
The Batis is, however, sharp enough and fast enough for the type of work I do and its the lightest of the four 135 primes I mention in the review (and image quality is more than just about sharpness). If you are a looking for a lightweight 135 prime that performs really well in all genres, this may be the one you are looking for. My only criticism would be that I wish it was a little cheaper, and therefore easier to recommend. It is $350 cheaper than the GM but ideally needs to be another $350 cheaper so that it can match the price of the heavier Sigma. I pulled the plug to purchase this lens when a good friend was selling his copy in mint condition.
If push came to shove I would have to say that the 135 focal length is my favourite focal length for a prime lens. If you are an APS-C owner then you can get the 135 f/2.8 full-frame equivalent angle-of-view and shallow depth of filed by using Sony's bargain basement FE 85mm f/1.8 at little more than a third of the price of the Batis.
