Please ask all of your photography questions during the month of September 2022 using this forum. When replying to a post that is more than three days old it would help me enormously if you start a new discussion thread as it will be easier for me to find your question. Questions asked during the weekend may not be answered until Monday morning (Australian time zone). Thanks.

(my second Sony DSLR after the original A100). I was using Sony DSLRs for six years (as well as Nikon cameras) before I was appointed as a Sony Ambassador.

I have posted this as I will be heading back along this great route at the end of this month. I have wonderful memories of having traveled this route in 1988, 2009 and 2019. It may also serve as a reminder to other photographers that sometimes the mundane can make a fantastic image as part of a bigger story or just as an image in its own right.

Dear Mark I have the following question regarding RAW file type in my SONY A1 and my R7V. In the Sony support article (article ID: 00257863 / last change: 24/05/2024, https://www.sony.ch/de/electronics/support/articles/00257081) I find the following description regarding RAW file type: When selecting the RAW file type, you can choose between "Uncompressed" and "Lossless Com (L to S)" and “Compressed”. According to this Sony support article, "Lossless Com (L to S)" reduces the image size without compromising on quality. The difference in image size between "Not compressed" and "Lossless Com (S)" with my Sony A1 is then 8640X5760 (49.8 MP) and 4320X2880 (12.4MP), respectively. According to the same Sony support article (quote from the support text), a lossless compressed image is processed by a post-processing software and the data is decompressed like a ZIP file. With decompression, you should be able to expand the compressed file back to its original size. I would like to know how this works. I cannot "enlarge" (unzip) my 4320X2880 (12.4MP) file again. Which post-processing software do you think the above description is based on? Which photographically relevant quality characteristics are affected by the different compression types, and which are not? Does the RAW file type choice affect frames per second? I hope my description of the problem is comprehensible. I would be pleased to receive an occasional reply. Best regards, Christian

Hi Mark, I was watching one of your previous videos on importing presets to LR but unfortunately it's 5 years old and the presets tab is different. Should I import by clicking "Show Lightroom Develop Presets" or "Show all other Lightroom presets". When I click the first I notice I have some of your presets that I imported but it is under Camera Raw and Settings. When I click the second one I get what you had in your video, namelyLightroom and Develop Presets. Have I loaded your presets in the wrong place? If so how do I move them to the develop presets without screwing everything up. The presets are working where they are right now. Thanks

The Develop Presets have to go into a separate part of the folder structure now, so Lightroom added a second button to help users navigate to this new directory. f the presets are working there is nothing else to do. The change was so Adobe Camera Raw and the mobile version of Lightroom could use the same develop presets.
