Content

This is a support page to help direct Patrons to information about a wide range of Sony E-Mount Lenses. I apologise for its length, but I was keen to collate numerous resources into a single location.

DNG Files
The 1st link on each line, in the list of lenses below, will take Premium members to the support page that includes download links to Raw files in the DNG format (I embed my copyright information in the header of the DNG file format). These files are for personal use only and should not be shared.

Note > If you are an 'Official' Patron and would like to access these Raw files + the eBooks + the CAMSET files, please consider upgrading from the 'Official' to the Premium Tier.

Note 2 > The DNG files can be imported into Lightroom or opened in Adobe Camera Raw (Photoshop or Bridge). They will appear in the last state that I edited them, using the Develop Module in Lightroom Classic (so long as you do not open them with a Develop Preset selected). To see the files in their unedited state you just have to hit the reset option.

YouTube Lens Reviews
The 2nd link on each line (available to all Patrons) is to a YouTube lens review.

Note > It may surprise you to hear that Sony do not ask me or pay me to make these lens reviews. They supply the lens for a short loan period only. This is why the vast majority of Sony Ambassadors around the world do not review lenses. As such I am not paid to like the lens. My reviews often state that the lens is as sharp as the images I have supplied for your to look at. I don't think I have ever said a Sony Lens is better than another lens from a different manufacturer. My main aim is to provide viewers with useful information to help them make an informed purchasing decision. As I am primarily a photographer and not a camera gear reviewer I would like to think my photos are a little more interesting to look at when compared to other reviewers and hopefully this enables the viewer to see what the lens is capable of, if all of the camera settings are appropriate.

Flickr Ultra HD Photo Galleries
The 3rd link takes all Patrons to a Flickr album of Ultra HD images. If you need to know how sharp a lens is just view these images on a large 4K monitor. My Flickr Pro account supports 6K images so some of the images captured with the higher resolution sensors may allow you to zoom in to check sharpness when magnified.

Note > I have albums of photos for most Sony lenses - even the ones I have NOT created a YouTube lens review for. Check out this link if the lens you are interested in is not featured in the list below: https://www.flickr.com/photos/markgaler/albums

Lens Specifications and current Price
The 4th link takes you to the B&H Photo store in the USA. This gives you an idea of the price of the lens and also access to all of the lens specifications, size, weight, number of aperture blades, etc. etc. If you do make a purchase on B&H (after following my link) I will get a small commission for having referred you.

If you click on the Raw filter or 'tag' below my Patreon banner image (when using a web browser) you can access the individual pages as they were posted. If you scroll down to the bottom of the page make sure you click on the 'load more' option (otherwise some posts will be hidden from view). Here is the list of lenses that I am currently supporting with Raw file downloads (DNG file format only), lens reviews and B&H Photo purchase links.

LENS CHOICE
If all of the options are making it difficult to decide which lens, or lenses, to own is daunting, then I recommend watching my Lens Choice video: https://youtu.be/s-lbviqIsp8
This video is less about specific lenses and more about the types of lenses and how many a photographer could consider adding to their camera kit.

TELEPHOTO LENSES
This second video tutorial talks specifically about the Sony lenses that have a focal length longer than standard (or include a longer focal length lens in their zoom range). https://youtu.be/WWZrmMCRfyg

ONE MOUNT
Sony's APS-C, Full Frame and their 'Cine' line cameras (dedicated Movie cameras) now all share the same E-Mount. Some photographers may overlook the fact that we can use Full-Frame lenses on APS-C bodies or APS-C lenses on Full-Frame bodies (in APS-C mode). This greatly expands our possible choices. The video tutorial above outlines this topic in more detail: https://youtu.be/seo7RmNVZSI

Thank you for your ongoing support as Patron. Your support allows me to support you and the larger Sony Alpha community.

Best Wishes
