In this extended 100-minute Patreon Seminar I provide you with the information behind the planning and making of  'The Mighty Mekong' - a 10-minute video that showcases the images captured during my travels in South-East Asia in November/December 2023.

Before watching this seminar I would first recommend that you watch the 10-minute Might Mekong video: https://youtu.be/IvLwQgJhu0Q

Choice of camera gear features heavily in this Seminar. This 'choice' has evolved since my Travel Photography 2023 Patreon seminar I released in early 2023, because of the new lenses and new cameras that have become available in 2023.  The release of the A7CII, A7CR and A6700 cameras has made me reexamine the options for choosing appropriate lenses for lightweight travel.

The best APS-C camera in January 2023 was, in my opinion, the full-frame A7RV in APS-C mode. Now that we have the A6700 APS-C camera, which shoots with an identical resolution, dynamic range and high ISO performance as the A7RV in APS-C mode, we now have a much cheaper and more compact option for travelling light.

The option to choose smaller, lighter and cheaper APS-C lenses should make this a much more cost-effective solution, and one that should also be attractive to owners of the larger dual-card full frame cameras. The reality, however, is that it is much harder to select appropriate APS-C lenses that offer significant weight savings and offer optimum performance. Some APS-C options are actually larger, heavier and more expensive that equivalent full-frame lenses. I therefore look at the options in great detail. I also look at the options for full-frame users and when these make a little more sense than the APS-C options.

If you are not interested in these extended lens discussions, please make use of the chapter markers in the video timeline to skip ahead to the section where I discuss image capture and post production editing + the section about some travel recommendations if you were looking at undertaking a similar trip.
