how about a little less saturation on the color render? I love the look but it's a bit...saturated.

Lucas

Color, much less boring

Xintas

I'll be the stupid one. Great miniature, but I'm not seeing a difference in the actual miniature; just the color. Are they different?

Lasarus

I like both. The colours fives me interesting ideas on how to paint it, lighting and all. THough I do also like the simple monotone black and white. I feel like I can better see the dumples and what not with that. Otherwise, loveing the mini. Give's me a bit of inspiration for my writing actually.

Jake

I like it being a lady version of the classic he-man barbarian, but I would love for her to be a lot more muscled and have a battle expression of her face. She looks more like a lingerie model posing in his style than a warrior about to chop up some skeletons and orcs.

MiB

Gray definitely. The best color for detecting shapes. I guess that's the purpose of the pictures.

Alán Orth

I prefer the coloured one. It makes it easier to read detail on PC. Saturation is a bit high as some other commenters mentioned. But the look is similar to what you can get in the windows 3d model viewer.

TiziusCaius

Great miniature. I think color is better, just a bit less saturated. ;-)

Corrin Mana

I think the reason people don't like the color is the color choice. Try 70% saturated blue and orange instead of 100% cyan and magenta

Painted or Not

Something in between. The colored one is too saturated and distracts the black and white a bit too bland. Somewhere in between but but leaning towards the black and white. The miniature nice dynamic pose but needs a bit bore details and the face not liking it . Honest opinion hope it helps, not meaning to be over critical.

Color looks good. The sculpt might look better with a little more motion, she looks more like she's posing that way rather than caught mid-movement. Maybe if her hair was swinging out more, and she had a more obvious flex in her tricep, thigh and hamstrings to show the force she's balancing. (Suggestions which just come from looking a certain piece of box art.)

I dig the sculpt, but to be more useful to the creative process, I'll try to be critical... I think the lower body looks perfect for an adult female barbarian. The arms are a bit under muscled for the motion of the swing and the weight of the sword. Boobs are possibly a bit too big. I know we're not going for absolute realism, but when you combine the young face, the calm expression, the center of balance being perfectly centered for a stationary pose and the weak arms, it sort of comes across as a teen girl with some plastic surgery posing for a photo while cosplaying at a convention. Which if you are going for a stationary position preparing for a swing works fine. At that point I'd just go with a little bulkier arm muscle. There is a good opportunity, if she's doing a forward swinging motion like the old HQ box art, to throw some of the motion into the breasts and raise them up and out in the direction of the sword and maybe a bit more swoosh to the hair. That's me trying to be helpful. I'd take it as is with no complaints.

Also, I think the b&w renders are easier to read, and second the motion to downplay the extremes of saturation on the color render. But I'd also suggest trying out the 'cavity' I think it's called setting in Blender (likely zbrush too... it's the thing with the ridge and valley sliders in the viewport shading dropdown) that gives the crevices and ridges some definition and gives it a washed look like a print covered in contrast paint then dry brushed.

If you want to do color then get closer to the OG box art? :)

Rob Silvester

The problem with most Patreon's coloured renders is they try to actually paint the render, which generally obscures details. What you're doing is more akin to lighting effects, which exaggerate details and make them easier to see.

Lucas

Great miniature! Love it
