#SundayRundown Bleach TYBW [Bare with me cause this is a long one for this finale] We have reached the summit conclusion to Peak Fiction of the Highest Degree. Everything but the Rain + The Blade IS Me is the apex culmination of not only Ichigo’s character arc but the very plot of Bleach as a whole as this was foreshadowed back in the first arc in Ep 20 when Ichigo first met “Zangetsu” he tried to call out his name but there was a blurred bubbling sound, and in the manga his name was crossed out as Yhwach, who’s literally Quincy Jesus with the personality of Hitler as the best and worst of us in one. So not only is it a “How I met your mother”/Romeo & Juliet romance story but the very balanced genesis salvation of who we are, our conflicting personalities/souls at war with one another finally finding peace as the holy trinity from an identity crisis, embracing your light & dark sides as the Yin Yang Abstract harmonized, reverting your roots and cleansing your soul. It’s all about polar opposites, interacting with one another, and making peace with them. In this 1st cour we’ve seen Bleach tackle the themes of not only the overall main theme of this arc being the sins of old coming back to haunt them taking them down and making way for the new generation to take over to rectify those sins restoring the balance for the betterment of all existence but also atoning for ones sins (Yama-Goat-o & Yachiru Unomommy) Entrusting the protection of a society for a better world by the innocent (Byakuya) Coming out of your comfort zone to facing the fears of war like never before (Soul reapers) The possibility of love & peace between opposing forces (Isshin & Masaki) The devoted religious puritan opening up to true natural love (Ryuken & Katagiri) And finally the greatest reverting ones roots to Self-Acceptance story ever told (Ichi-Goat) since the man in question has always believed himself to be a soul reaper when he’s actually a Quincy Vizard firsthand and a soul reaper afterwards. Ichigo never needed any grandiose goals like Naruto and Luffy, he needed to find, forgive and accept himself but instead only ever wanted a normal life and just trying to escape from it all by getting caught up in the world he does not understand. He’s just a young man learning to deal with self guilt and the need to protect, all while getting pulled into an spiritual world of 3 factions constantly at war with each other that he didn’t ask for, but ends up finding out that he’s all of them in one and that he must find, forgive, and accept himself to cleanse the world as the balance between white, black and everything in between. To find peace and salvation, you must go back to your roots, understand you accept Bloodline’s Legacy (JoJos) and accept your natural authentic self to live above the influences of the world, if it’s a shitty legacy that you are not proud of nor care for, change it and make it better for the sake of your children as the next generation (Sajin Komamura + God of War) Bleach 🤝JoJos 🤝God of War— Owning and constantly one upping their critics and haters, proving them wrong beyond surface level machismo themes and providing motivation as the greatest pieces of Peak Fictional entertainment to Nonfictional Aspirations like no other. Overall Bleach TYBW Cour 1 single-handedly made every Monday feel like an event and has officially become the greatest comeback return in anime history thus far, as well as one of the best adaptations that any anime could hope for as it became the highest rated anime on IMDB, had a 9 week streak on Anime Corner as a popularity poll + it’s anime of the season/year, and although not credible even the 1st top spot on MAL 3 times during its airing in a matter of only 10+ Eps, not seen before since AOT, all while despite countless people catching up with the OG anime and not being able to see it outside of English speaking countries, meaning lack of availability unlike with others that have no setbacks, just imagine if there were none! Sidenote: The Zanpakuto Rebellion arc (Eps 230 to 265) is Anime canon or semi canon since their designs were mostly done by Kubo himself and fits in the timeline after Aizen’s defeat. You guys can watch it after the end of TYBW along with the last Bleach 4 Hellverse.

#SundayRundown The only thing that we saw Uryu learn about the Quincy Soul Reaper conflict was that Yhwach's war happened 1000 years ago. He still knew about the genocide of the Quincies 200 years ago, but it is implied by that scene that his father and grandfather hid the existence of Yhwach from him. About Old Man Zangetus(OMZ) and White Ichigo, the last time we saw OMZ was all the way back in Chapter 143 during the Soul Society Arc. This episode was Chapter 541. White Ichigo introduced himself as Zangetsu and explained this twist all the way back in Chapter 218. The readers all just thought he was lying.

#SundayRundown Bleach Most of what I explain comes from great Bleach youtubers, so maybe you could watch them after you finished Bleach. Ichigo’s power structure is more complex than it seems, due to him being a hybrid he possesses multiple power sources that must coexist but he is at his core a Soul reaper, so every other part of himself must abide to that system. This creates a problem, since Quincys and Hollows do not posses inner spirits as core from their power; so a spirit needed to be form for his Quincy side and it took the appearance of Yhwach since all Quincys are connected to him by blood or other means. To make things worst his Hollow and Soul Reaper powers got fused and created White, then his Quincy side took over and that caused a permanent imbalance in his soul. After that Ichigo was not able to draw power himself, rather they gave him whatever power they deemed necessary. Throughout the story, Ichigo unlucks more of his potential little by little until this moment when he understands everything about himself and instead of fight it, he accepts it. If you noticed Oetsu only forged one blade but when Ichigo poured his soul into it, he proclaimed both were real so he divided it in two. Both were a part of him. “The Blade is Me”. One last thing that was missed in dub, when Ichigo first meets Old Zangetsu in the manga and sub anime, he cannot hear his name, in the manga panel the text box is blacked out and broken while in the anime the sound is distorted and without subtitles, sadly in dub they say Zangetsu, because the team assumed that’s what they meant but actually it was revealed by Kubo that Old man actually tried to said “Yhwach” but was unable to, and the reason for it will be revealed later in the anime, and I believe that you will be able to figure out why without us having to explain it.

#Sundayrundown pretty interesting little nuance for Yhwach's character in this episode, he's stated multiple times his disapproval and dislike of conflict, and most people label him as a hypocrite for this, but old man zangetsu, an extension of Yhwach, wished for peace for ichigo, away from conflict and danger. For me Yhwach really doesn't like conflict, but it's unavoidable in order for his goal to be achieved. I'd say more but it'd be spoilers so i'll save it for another time. When we first meet zangetsu and ichigo starts training with his zanpakuto, the tile of volume is called 'The blade and me' now it's 'The blade is me' symbolising the harmony and self acceptance ichigo has achieved, before there was a separation, but now ichigo understands himself. During the deicide era and his fight with aizen, ichigo achieved the final getstuga tenshou, some believed this to be ichigo's final form, however something isn't really right with that form. Ichigo receives long black hair and red eyes, qualities of a certain quincy king, Ichigo understood what zangetsu wanted and his motives, but he didn't know why, or who zangetsu even is at that time. Therefore resulting in more of an overlapping rather than a merge of appearance, but now the blade is him, and his appearances will reflect it. Ichigo talks about not asking zangetsu to fight alongside him anymore as it shows the final getsuga tenshou, again symbolising how it was more like a team up.

The way I can't wait for next week!!! Part 1 and Part 3 are both good in their own right but, Part 2 is easily my favourite of the 3 so far and it's not even close. I'm so excited for you guys to finally get to it ah!!!

#SundayRundown Bleach I think this was said before but the zanpakuto filler arc is kinda half canon actually a lot of the filler arcs in bleach are like that cause ideas would later get use in all the novels to come after Bleach but more importantly the designs of all the zanpakuto in that filler were all done by Kubo with some exceptions they are all canon and would be use in later bleach media as well

Okay, hype for part 2 aside, this is legitimately a great ending. I forgot how great it was lol but, man, still leaves me in awe and it sets up quite a bit for part 2 pretty well.

Finally. Sometimes you all need to hear some of the conversations happening in the anime before speaking because for example like in this episode, there was a scene showcasing using quincy's shadow to stop time during the battle with zaraki and using young yhwach quincy's blood to stop ichigo's blood from bleeding while ichigo was laying flat on the ground after zaraki stab him in the middle upper chest. Some of this conversations are vital.

Remember when “Zangetsu” said, when Ichigo grieves it will rain ever so easily in his inner world? When Ichigo got told who he really was, it started pouring heavy rain when he started talking to him. And when “Zangetsu” told him he really wasn’t Zangetsu, Ichigo’s whole world literally collapses and ends up submerged in despair after hearing that. I can’t imagine a better plot twist this series had that had so much foreshadowing built up to it. This is one of the few times “Nothing Can Be Explained” wasn’t played between Ichigo and “Zangetsu” because now Everything is Explained. A remix of the song did however play when Yhwach left and told Ichigo about his mother, giving us further clues there.

#SundayRundown: Bleach In original Japanese, if you go back to Episode 19 when “Zangetsu” first met Ichigo, you can hear a distorted sound but there’s a clear “-HA” at the end when “Zangetsu” tells him his name like the way Yhwach’s name is pronounced (Yuha BaHA) I can’t imagine that being a coincidence in the anime. The English dub just made him say “Zangetsu” but Ichigo couldn’t hear him. This is one of the best moments in all of shonen right here, and it been a long time coming, from the Blade and Me in chapter 66/episode 19 to the reveal that the Blade is Me in chapter 542/ episode 379. What I love about this reveal is that it recontextualizes every interaction Ichigo has with White and Zangetsu. Moments like him taking over Ichigo in fights against Byakuya, Grimmjow, Hyori, and Ulquiorra know hold more weight when you realize white is trying to protect ichigo and not being the typical malicious spirit trying to take over his host. Even small moments like the mask appearing in him during his training with Kisuke or the mask stopping fatal blows against Kenpachi and Renji. There are even time where it's so in your face you wonder how you missed it, such as White literally screams that he is Zangetsu during the vizard training and both of White and Zangetsu fusing, saying they are both his true power, and saying the only way to learn the Final Getsuga Tensho was to accept their blade, to accept both of them. Kubo did such a fantastic job with basically having White and Zangetsu do the good the cop bad cop routine that even when where told the truth we subconsciously ignore it and rarely question it.

Now you know how Ichigo was able to beat Kenpachi in the Soul Society arc. During the battle with Unohana, we learned how Kenpachi constantly suppressed his powers against his opponents. Now here we learned how Old Man Zangetsu was using Blut Vene while boosting Ichigo's attack capability against Kenpachi. Ichigo "beating" (he didn't Kenpachi was the last man standing) Kenpachi in the OG Bleach kinda seemed off. But now with explanations we can understand how it happened. As for Blade is Me, It's the ultimate peak of Bleach. Nothing tops this. Why? Because this embodies what Bleach is trying to convey. Self discovery, self acceptance, and finding balance being some of the core themes.

#Sundayrundown #TYBW Uryu was always aware of the Soul Reapers wiping out the Qunicy 200 years ago the only thing he wasn't aware of was Ywach the father of all Quncies and the original war 1000 years ago. Them dying at the hands of Soul Society isn't new info for him, he knew about way back in his first appearance. A thing a lot of people over look with Uryu is that he outright says he agrees with the reasoning as to why the soul reapers did it. Quncy were wiping out hollows from the face of existence which is straight up bad for the world as a whole and they refused to compromise. Also the present day Quncy Uryu's family (before the events of TYBW showed us there were way more in hiding) were loosely under the watch of the Soul Society since there weren't many left to really effect the world balance were left alone so he didn't have grudge with them in that sense, same with his father Ryuken since he works with Isshin in the present day. His hatred for the Soul Reapers is specifically about his grandfather dying to a hollow attack that could have been stopped by Soul Reapers that's where his hatred from them stems from.

Okay. I am still a little confused on what Ichigo is currently after this episode. Was Old Man Z leaving him saying his Quincy powers were also leaving him? Because we were showed that he can use the Bluet Viens, or was that his inner Yhwach protecting him for the real Yhwach. As you said, White is the fusion of his natural Soul Reaper Powers and the Hollow. And he has white be one of his new swords, while having Old Man Z be the other (or just the idea of Old Man Z being the other). If the answers are spoilers then feel free to hit me with the Mark Whalberg from Departed of "Maybe, maybe not, maybe go fuck yourself" lol.

#SundayRundown There's something that the episode doesn't really do well to really hit home the concept of The Blade Is Me. The zanpakuto are a reflection of the soul reaper's power and soul and have their own sentient being like Zangetsu/White, Toshiro's Hyorinmaru, Renji's Zabimaru... that is undeniable. But what Renji knew, and what Ichigo needed to understand, was that you are all one. Suraj, you said Ichigo is "going to be one with the sword". No, Ichigo IS the sword, and the sword IS Ichigo. The way this realization progressed in the manga was also pretty cool: Chapter 66, The Blade AND Me - Ichigo learns the name of his zanpakuto, Zangetsu. Chapter 541, The Blade AND Me 2 - The first part of his conversation with Old Man Zangetsu/Yhwach. Chapter 542, The Blade IS Me - Ichigo accepting White/Old Man Zangetsu and gaining his new zanpakuto. Old Man Zangetsu and White aren't 2 different entities living within Ichigo's soul that are giving him powers from Yhwach and the hollow that Aizen created. Ichigo may have self-actualized each of them differently in his internal world, but Old Man Zangetsu, White, and Ichigo Kurosaki are all one. Ichigo needed to learn this: The Blade Is Me.

Old Man Z wanted to protect him, and part of that was wanting to keep him from being a soul reaper. Even as Ichigo went down the soul reaper path, Old Man Z was using his own power (the power of Quincy) to protect him. However, as he said, it was Ichigo's TRUE power (the power of White) that saved his life many times, and gradually, Old Man Z let more of that power eek out, while still holding most of it back. Now finally, he's released all of that power he was keeping at bay, and tries to leave Ichigo completely; thinking he wouldn't want to keep this Quincy power that tricked him. But Ichigo says no. He will keep his Quincy power, because both that AND White are his true power; as far as he's concerned. So it was Ichigo's decision to have 2 blades. The old man was going to leave, and he'd have just one, but Ichigo accepted both presences inside himself. Therefore he has 2.

#SUNDAYRUNDOWN BLEACH This episode is so important because it effectively finishes off Ichigo's character development. As we know the Zanpaktou is representative of a Characters self progression and Here Ichigo finally gets a Completed Zanpaktou. Both parts of Zangetsu finally accept Ichigo because Ichigo finally accepts himself, Which is something he couldn't do given his trauma (Blaming himself for his mother death). Throughout the series Ichigo's Quincy power never said he was Zangetsu, the first & only time Ichigo's spoke his name, we could not hear it. If you go back through the story "White" always told us that he is Zangetsu. Think about the entire SS arc, it was White that kept saving Ichigo. Kubo loves writing in this fashion where he blends Metaphors and Foreshadowing to make the viewers that pay attention cling to a false understanding. "Then how did Ichigo have a Zanpaktou all this time". The hollow "White" was made from Shinigami Souls, so Ichigo had something akin to an Asauchi, yet made with a hollow as a base. This is also why whenever he got stronger as a Shinigami, His hollow powers did as well because his Shinigami and Hollow Powers are one. Yeah it's crazy, this is why Ichigo's bankai was more like a ressurecion than an actual Bankai and why his getsuga was compared to a gran ray cero by Ulquiorra it's actually fucking crazy when you think about every instance from OG Bleach. The Young Yhwach seems to carry Quincy intent, yet also seeks to protect Ichigo. This Quincy part of him believed becoming a Shinigami = Conflict and suffering so he actively tried to keep that from happening. This belief comes from Yhwach himself with how he hates conflict. (This is especially important in that he decided to not "kill" Ichigo as planned because Ichigo choose a path of suffering to achieve his desires of his own free will [This is important for the theme Kubo is going for so remember it]) Ichigo's long Blade is representative of his Shinigami & Hollow powers while the short blade is his Quincy powers. Bleach blends A LOT of Buddhist and Christian themes when crafting its lore. Buddhism has a concept known as Samsara and within that concept, you have something known as 6 Paths, 3 of them are virtuous paths and the other 3 are unbenelovent paths...One of those "bad" paths is the Animal path, which plays into Komamura's clan being beast. Oetsu say go-ichi because "Ichi" means 1, and Oetsu considers himself number 1 so he flips the order of Ichigo's name, because "go" in Japanese means 5

If you guys don't remember when Ichigo was first learning about his zanpakuto in the soul society with Urahara and Ichigo has to rely heavily on Zangetsu's strength that episode and chapter is called "The Blade and Me". And now in this episode where Ichigo finally finds himself and what his true zanpakuto really is and he's gonna be using his OWN strength , it's called "The Blade is Me". He IS the Blade. He's HIM. That's Himchigo. It's so fucking poetic and Peak! THE BLADE IS PEAK!!!!!!

TAXES AND RACISM XD 2 things to point out. 1 cool little detail you likely don't remember is in the Soul Society arc Yamamoto expressly said there were only two double sword Zanpakutou in all of Soul Society (Kyoraku, and Ukitake), and now Ichigo. 2nd being to remember how Ichigo obtained shikai and bankai through training with Urahara and Yoruichi. Renji even recognized the method and summoned out his own Zanpaktou's spirit in front of Ichigo. Plus Nimaya understood what was going on the whole time so it's a reasonable inference all Zanpakutou work that way.

#SundayRundown #BLEACH 4:15 - "I mean...Can we not badmouth [...] Tousen?" - No, we absolutely can, Navi. 😆 It's just, remember Hisagi and Komamura (the people who loved Tousen more than anyone) had that tender final moment with him at the end, before he was exploded. It's understandable why Hisagi feels the way he does, but...yeah. If ANYONE has the right to badmouth Tousen, it's Kensei. That man literally ruined his life. Even though it was all Aizen's plan, Tousen was the one on Kensei's squad, who wiped them all out and directly turned him and Mashiro into hollows. --- That reveal reaction was everything I hoped it would be! 😁 Now you know why those of us who had never seen the dub before were PISSED when Old Man Zangetsu said his name. Not only is it blocked out/garbled when he says it in the manga/sub...but that's the ONLY time he says it! In other words, the chunk of Yhwach's soul never gets to say his name, and ICHIGO is the one who calls him Zangetsu; whereas White - truthfully - DOES call himself Zangetsu all the time. 🤯 It's funny Suraj saying he's going to train his Quincy powers now, when technically that's what he's been doing this whole series! You could even argue he's never truly been a soul reaper this entire time; rather some weird-ass bootleg Quincy. 😆 EDIT: I forgot this explanation! This is important. EVERYONE has a manifestation inside of them, and EVERYONE needs to bond/train with with their manifestation in order to achieve bankai. We saw this way back when Ichigo was doing his 3-day blitz training with Yoruichi before rescuing Rukia. Renji came into the training ground and said "Don't worry, I'm not here to fight. Zabimaru and I are just gonna' go achieve bankai over there." We then saw his manifestation: A Nue. A Japanese mythological creature that looks like a baboon with a snake for a tail. This was the second time we saw that manifestation too. The first was when Renji had been defeated by Ichigo, and then got arrested for loosing (poor Renji). While in his hospital bed/jail cell, he talked to Zabimaru, who manifested, saying how much they wanted to beat the s--- out of Zangetsu for breaking them. (I say "them" because the baboon and the snake both talk.) Renji had to convince them that Ichigo wasn't their true enemy. The only other one we've seen is Hitsugaya's Hyourinmaru. Whenever he uses his ice powers, you're basically seeing what his manifestation looks like.

#SUNDAYRUNDOWN BLEACH There are ALOT of small hints about Young Ywach(Zangetsu) REAL Origin and Powers, even as far back as the Soul Society Invasion Arc. We saw in the Kenpachi VS Ichigo fight that they BOTH should have died there, YET they didn’t, because the both them had very different circumstances lol.. Ichigos is a little different in that he has VERRY UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES regarding his Inner World. When he is saved in his fight with Kenpachi, you can HEAR the subtle Bass Skip of the Shadow that hides Quincies when “Zangetsu” saves Ichigo, which is basically Zangetsu taking Ichigo to his inner wold where WHITE actively tries to either SAVE or TAKE OVER Ichigos body.m

just a tidbit cause i didnt see anyone else mention it, but Tensa Zangetsu, Ichigo's bankai spirit, is a manifestation of Yhwach as a teenager (why he looks younger) "Zangetsu appears younger in Ichigo's Bankai form ("Tensa Zangetsu") because it represents the purest manifestation of Ichigo's Quincy powers, which are directly linked to the youthful form of Yhwach, the Quincy progenitor; essentially, when Ichigo activates his Bankai, he accesses a more potent version of his Quincy abilities, visually represented by a younger Zangetsu resembling Yhwach in his prime."

Not sure how familiar you are with the source but that's more of a language thing that doesn't come across well or often. The only specific example I can think of is when we first meet Nemaya he greets Ichigo and Renji with Shiku-yoro insted of Yoroshiku (nice to meet you). It's just a quirky character speech thing and and I'm not so fluent I'll have noticed every time he does it (plus he's just not in it that long to stand out to this point).

As we all know, the Zanpaktou is representative of a character's self progression, and here, Ichigo finally gets a Completed Zanpaktou. Both parts of Zangetsu finally accept Ichigo because Ichigo finally accepts and loves himself, which is something he couldn't do given his trauma. -Throughout the entire show, Ichigo's Quincy power never said he was Zangetsu; in fact, the first & only time that part of Ichigo's soul spoke its name, we could not hear it. More important is that if you go back through the story, "White" always told us that he is Zangetsu. Think about the entire SS arc, it was actually White who kept saving Ichigo. Kubo loves writing in this fashion, where he blends Metaphors and Foreshadowing to make the viewers that pay attention or cling to a false understanding. - Some still question, "Then how did Ichigo have a Zanpaktou all this time". The hollow "White" was made from Shinigami Souls, so practically Ichigo had something akin to an Asauchi, yet made with a hollow as a base. This is also why whenever he got stronger as a Shinigami, His hollow powers did as well because his Shinigami and Hollow Powers are one. - It's really cool how Kubo uses Ichigo being a mixed breed to show that he has Quincy Powers, we can assume that this Young Ywach looking being existed in all Quincy, but unlike Ichigo, Quincies can't visit their inner soul...only Shinigami can, so Ichigo would be the only one in existence able of experiencing this. -This part of Ichigo that looks like Young Ywach seems to carry Quincy intent, yet also seeks to protect Ichigo. I always found it fascinating because this Quincy part of him believed becoming a Shinigami = Conflict and suffering so he actively tried to keep that from happening. I still wonder if maybe this belief comes from Ywach himself. - The long Blade is representative of his Shinigami & Hollow powers and the short blade is his Quincy powers. - Bleach blends Buddhist themes and Christian themes when crafting its lore. Buddhism has a concept known as Samsara and within that concept, you have something known as 6 Paths, 3 of them are virtuous paths and the other 3 are unbenelovent paths...One of those "bad" paths is the Animal path, which plays into Komamura's clan being beast.

#SundayRundown #BLEACH With regards to the revelation presented in the Part 1 Finale of TYBW, if you go back to Episode 06: ‘The Flame’ where Yamamoto fought Yhwach, on Disney+ you would see various glimpses of a younger Yamamoto throughout the episode whilst Yhwach maintains the same appearance he has throughout all of TYBW. However, if you were to watch that same episode on the Blu-Ray release (and presumably DVD as well) of TYBW, you would find that you are also presented with glimpses of a younger Yhwach who bears a much closer resemblance to ‘Old Man Zangetsu’.

A reminder that in season 1 when Ichigo first met Zangetsu, he told him his real name was but Ichigo couldn't hear it. The anime muted, while the manga scratched out his name. Zangetsu replied "It seems I still can't reach you yet." Kubo forshadowed nearly a decade ahead from the time he started writing Bleach in 2001 to when he started the TYBW arc manga in 2011. The name Yhwach is inspired by YHWH, the acronym that refers to Yahweh, the true name of God of the Israelites in the bible. Zangetsu, on the other hand is has to do with time, months, and the moon. Word for word translates to "cut moon" however the meaning is "To cut the moon" or "Slay the moon" The kanji 斬 used to spell Zangetsu's name means "Cut"....the ON reading is "Zan" and the KUN reading is "Kiru". The Kanji 月 is used for both "Tsuki" and "Getsu" which both mean month or moon. The words Getsu and Gatsu are used to count months. For example Ichi-gatsu (January/ Month/Moon 1), Ni Gatsu (February/ Month/Moon 2) and so forth.

I’m sure you can imagine they must’ve felt very foolish after the reveal. And yes that is indeed the same voice actor as Old Man Zangetsu just like they did in Japanese as well.

Bleach #SundayRundown In episode 123, the one who we previously referred to as the hollow had told Ichigo and us, that he is Zangetsu, and even in your reaction, Chris had said off-hand that maybe he's always been Zangetsu. That guess was right on the money, the answer has always been staring us in the face and like Ichigo, we simply didn't acknowledge it, or didn't want to acknowledge it. Because we would then question the one who we previously thought to be Zangetsu, who had turned out to the manifestation of his Quincy powers. I remember reading the manga when all this went down, there were so many theories that Yuha and Zangetsu where linked given their likeness and I'm happy you guys didn't even suspect it. Even when I saw all that, I didn't want to believe that the man who had guided Ichigo this whole time was lying about who or what he really was. It really shatters our viewpoint, and it literally shatters the buildings in Ichigo's inner world when he says goodbye. In doing so, Ichigo has not only unlocked his true Zangetsu, but his true self, he knows who he is and where he comes from. Because of this, we're seeing an Ichigo that of which we have not seen before. One who is focused and fully realized, as are his Zangetsu's. Having 2 Zanpakuto is exceptionally rare, and in this series, only Shunsui and Ukitake possess a duel wielding Zanpakuto, both of which are not only captains, but are veterans, students of Yamamoto and some of the oldest among the gotei 13. That should give you an indication of how powerful Ichigo must be at this present moment. Oh and shout out to Shiro Sagisu and Hazel Fernandes, the bankai remix for Number One is so dope.

Every Soul reaper that is imprinted on their asuchi enough to achieve "Shinkai" has a Zanpakuto spirit. What's required for Shinkai is "communication" and they have an inner world. What's required for "Bankai" is materialization. Bringing that spirit into this world. Renji materialized zabimaru in front of Ichigo which is how he knew he was only a little step from Bankai. Zabimaru even materialized while Renji was sleeping in his cell after his defeat to ichigo and "Zangetsu". You have actually seen a few of their Zanpakuto spirits. Just have to go back and watch.

It's also worth considering why Shunsui and Ukitake have 2 Zanpakuto. We know the reason for Ichigo now (being a combination of hollow, soul reaper, human and quincy) but we know next to nothing about Shunsui and Ukitake at this point

A lot of people get this wrong, but Zangetsu wasn't Yhwach at all!!!! Listen and read. Zangetsu was just Ichigo's Quincy powers, who took on the form of Yhwach. Not every Quincy has manifested spirits like Soul Reapers. The only reason his Quincy powers took a form in the first place was because the true Zangetsu was a combination of a soul reaper and a hollow.
