Bleach #SundayRundown It should be noted that the jinka technique does not have a time limit, as soon as Sajin completely gave into revenge, his immortality in human form would expire. Theoretically it could go on forever if he didn't become the embodiment of vengeance. It would have been cool to see if he battled Yuha, but like Chris said, I like this more. His quest for vengeance was pointless. He didn't even kill Bambi, though he did look dope during it. Gotta give credit to Kubo, and to the voice actor with that line as he defeated Bambi. What an end for the character, he truly was ride or die. Yamamoto meant so much to him, in fact, Kubo confirmed that he was the one who gave him the surname "Komamura" when he joined the gotei 13. As for Ichigo, these scenes of him in the royal palace, in fact many of those scenes in general are anime original. The manga focused primarily on the fights. I find your thoughts about his training and visions to be interesting, won't say more than that. I do appreciate that the anime is focusing on this aspect, it was sorely needed and editing this in with the fights was a smart decision from the team, we do like a nice little b plot. Even with everything happening right now, it still feels like the anime is setting up something even grander. I know you have watched the rest of the cour by now, I look forward to seeing it and your answers to the discord discussion points ;)

Man these episodes are short

#SundayRundown Bleach TYBW Please let this one be showcased….. Sajin’s New form- The Human Metamorphosis/Humanifcation Technique (Jinka technique): A special technique that is unique to the werewolf clan that Komamura is from, which allows one to shed their beast form and return to their Human form. This is achieved by ritually removing one's heart. In this form, his body is nothing more then a shell. And Now- The Immortally contradicting and Samurai BAN-KAI: Kokujô Tengen Myô-Oh: Dangai Joue! (“Divine Retribution, Black Ropes of Ruination: Severed-Armored Rope-Garb”) A 100 meter tall (about 329 feet tall, which makes sense as to why it had to be CGI of the best kind) armored, now with severed armored Giant Samurai that is a manifestation/reflection of the heart, soul and spiritual energy/pressure of the WolfMan that is Sajin Komamura. While the normal armored form has greater range and durability than most, it’s critical weakness is that any damage on it will reflect on Sajin, but in this severed armored and temporally immortal state, any damage is irrelevant after giving his heart away which as he said- “Before I even stepped into this battle, I HAD ALREADY LEFT MY LIFE BEHIND!” There are ironically 4 (being similar to the word death in Japanese) quotes that best describe this episode- “While seeking revenge, dig two graves - one for yourself” “Revenge provides its own executioner” “Revenge is like a ghost. It takes over every man it touches. Its thirst cannot be quenched until the last man standing has fallen” “Revenge is not a noble sentiment, but it is a human one” The gist of it is Sajin is the representation of the undying loyalty, integrity justice as revenge of the soul society. The theme of revenge is a common one as the same type that Gin had for Rangiku and Tosen for his dead close friend, Yamamoto for Chojiro and Ginjo for himself. While Sajin may have only succeeded in taking down a single Stern Ritter as the strongest female among them and leader of her own group known as the Bambies/Femritters, but it was enough as he’s the first one to take down any one of them in this 2nd invasion. One of, if not the most underrated captain character in the whole series: SAJIN KOMAMURA. Remember the name. Lastly regarding the colors that were surrounding Ichigo at the end of his training- Gold/Yellow = Soul Reaper Red = Hollow Green = Fullbring Blue = Quincy Sajin Komamura and Bambietta’s final illustrations: https://twitter.com/tite_official/status/1685296622551629824?s=61&t=1VigzxkX26iJZItobY59WA And for Ep 15, Rangiku between life & death/near death experience illustration: https://twitter.com/tite_official/status/1682759907349794816?s=61&t=1VigzxkX26iJZItobY59WA The death album is stacking up https://twitter.com/geta_boshi_/status/1685334754307010560?s=61&t=1VigzxkX26iJZItobY59WA

Bleach Calaminator

Bleach TYBW Episode 17- Heart of Wolf Keyword Page 1: Jinka No Jutsu (“Humanification Technique”) “An ability-enhancing technique handed down in the werewolf clan. This clan originated from humans who committed severe sins and iniquities while they were alive and were forced to take the form of animal beasts as the path of animals. They were unable to die and thus secluded themselves to the Soul Society, retaining their beastly form. The technique to temporarily break the chains of their sins, return them to their human form, the form they had before they were sinned as beasts, and gain immense power, is called the "Humanification Technique." The practitioner offers their own heart to temporarily gain immortality and, while in human form, will not cease to breathe no matter how much damage is inflicted on them. However, once the effect of the technique wears off, the person does not return to the beastly form, but is transformed into a complete animal, making it a once-in-a-lifetime technique..” Episode 17 Keyword Page 2: Quincy: Vollständig/Voll Stern Dich (“Annihilator: Complete Holy Form”) “A technique to strengthen the abilities of the Quincies. It is different from the Quincy: Letzt Stil (Last Style) that Sōken Ishida was obsessed with as the original final ability of the Quincies. It can release the abilities of the schrifts more effectively and dramatically increases combat power. It is mainly manifested in the form of a star-shaped ring over the head of the user and wings on their back, but the shape can vary depending on the user. Quilge Opie, who has the Schrift “J”, has shown that he can absorb even Hollows in this state, using ‘Sklaverei’ (Holy Slavery) for absolute control of reishi (spirit particles), which is the basic ability of a Quincy amplified to the utmost limit.”

I

#SundayRundown #Bleach I know a lot of people hate the outcome of Sajin and think the parallel to Kaname doesn't work but, I'm personally a huge fan. It's not even that I'm someone who enjoys the condemnation of revenge in fiction, I just have always loved the Sajin and Kaname relationship and storyline (it's probably my favourite storyline in the entire anime which is crazy to think about as someone who was pretty apathetic to both of these characters when I started Bleach). I still cry every time I rewatch the episodes with Kaname's last moments and the ways Sajin and Hisagi spoke to him at the very end. So, for me, for Sajin to go out in a similar fashion is heartbreaking. I'm an anime only girlie so, I can't speak to what might happen the future but, to be relegated to fate a lot of people would consider worse than death in the name of seeking "righteous" (which is where a lot of contention with what happened to him tends to comes from) vengeance is poetic to me. Especially when spoken about alongside what happened to Kaname. The action is amazing but, moments like this and another one that comes up are a big reason why I love this Cour so much compared to the other 2.

Yhwach

#sundayrundown Bro, this episode was straight fire, solid 9/10. The scene where Komamura is marching toward Yhwach gave me chills, and the CGI for Kokujo Tengen Myo was actually consistent and not jarring at all. Komamura transforming into a wolf was so emotional, man, especially with the flashbacks to Yamamoto and Tousen. The anime made me hate his ancestor even more, just the way he talks down on Komamura, even though I do like the whole "revenge turns you into a beast" theme. Also, Mask De Masculine was way more enjoyable here than in the manga, and Ichigo finally finishing his training with that “What do you want me to do next?” line? Absolute badass. Senjumaru actually doing something too, finally! And Uryu retrieving BG9 and Cang Du for execution was cold as hell, he's turning into Silbern himself. Loved the added content: Komamura telling Hinamori to grab Shinji and leave before activating Bankai, that slow march with the music, "Soundscape to Ardour" playing broke me. Iba stepping up made him the real MVP. Even the fight between Mask vs Shuhei, Ikkaku, and Yumichika got extended, unlike the manga. Some cut content like Komamura’s internal monologue or Giselle’s line about Candice learning Vollständig was kind of a loss, but nothing major. Jugram? Chef’s kiss. Dude’s more regal than Yhwach and still a total knight to women. And man, the Elder slobbering over Komamura’s heart while he’s struggling to walk was so damn infuriating. Each episode keeps getting better and better. In love with this one.

Kuro

#Bleach #SundayRundown I am interested in your thought and feelings towars the outcome of this fight and the price Sajin paid. Sajin gave up his humanity and his life to get revenge, throughout the Soul Society and Aizen arc, Sajin has been a voice of reason towards Kaname Tosen, trying to convince his friend to give up revenge ans now Sajin has given into his revenge and like Tosen who turned himself into a hollow by sacrificing his humanity, Sajin too gave up his humanity to become human for power and in the end like Tosen he took only one opponent out and didnt even get the revenge he ultimately wanted

Nabeshin

#SundayRundown #BLEACH Just wanna' point out, if it counts as a victory for Komamura to defeat Bambi, even though he didn't kill her, then the same applies for Hitsugaya. 😉 Cang Du was down for the count when Ishida came to him. This is what happens in Hitsugaya's battles. Even if his opponents are rescued from his ice, he still defeated them in that match.

Zack

fun fact Bambietta birthday is August 6 and thats when the atomic bomb was drop. her Signature Skill Reishi Bomb s

Gremmy Thoumeaux

Imagine how many Komamura fangirls were born when they saw Sajin’s human form. 😅

Xonok

Shinji taking L's this arc is almost as bad as Toshiro. Also, the training that Ichigo is doing is anime original it wasn't in the manga. Kubo asked the anime team to included, so the anime version of TYBW is the true canon now, over the manga. Mask de Masculine "S" is my favorite sternritter, the amount of W's he racks up in one arc is impressive.

Step B.

#SundayRundown Bleach Just in case nobody talks about it this is another great example of what revenge does to someone in this series. Tosen, Gin, Yamamoto, and now Komamura for different reasons and in different ways have succumb to it. Tosen for a noble cause of change in the corrupted system, Gin for love, Yamamoto for immense anger and rage at the death of his closest companion, and Komamura in the name of the person he most respected and admired, yet all met unfortunate fates for it. Even worse that Komamura could’ve stayed in his human form for as long as he needed had he not let himself briefly be consumed by vengeance P.S. Regarding your discussions about the Soul King; yes you guys have seen the Soul King before in the Episode 8 after credits scene specifically. Also the lights swirling around Ichigo represent Hollow (Red), Quincy (Blue), Shinigami (Gold), and Human (Green) if you were curious about it and wanted to piece some lore together from that

Step B.

Most of Toshiro’s “losses” are either against Aizen which isn’t fair or his opponents are completely frozen but someone else breaks them out of it

Step B.

Ichigo was a ghost for all these chapters that this Cour has covered so far until he eventually returned so all this is entirely new content and I love it

iman

You and ur imagination man ffs

#SundayRundown Bleach The hole thing with Komamura is very tragic cause he ended up doing the same as Tosen and let himself be drive by revenge but a key difference is that he didn’t let revenge change who he was. If you remember at the end of their battle Komamura said to Tosen that it was okay for him to hate everything as long as revenge doesn’t change who he is. You can see this in his actions, since he was in a time limit with his transformation and still took a detour to make sure his comrades were safe and deal with the primary menace that was Bambieta. So is up to you to decide, did Komamura did the right thing or did made the same mistake as Tosen? Finally regarding Ichigo’s training we can see how brutal it became but also if you hear what Ichibei says it looks like he’s testing if Ichigo is capable of holding something, as he called him a “vesell” while the power of all races invade him and he almost bursts.

iman

!!! In the manga, he was shown to be on his way back to SS while Bambi blew up Shinji's shoulder in this ep

Anakin

This is one of my favorite episodes of TYBW. Such an amazing moment, great writing and for such an underrated character. Sajin is not always on the list of favorite captains for some people but they gave him one of the best scenes of this arc. The fight was great, the new bankai look was awesome. Such a tragic and dark turn for this character. That he succumbs to revenge, thus forgetting the lessons he once said to Tosen. The music, the giant dog's voice, everything just turned out perfect for this scene. "Curse your lot, wallow in your vengeance, and I will drink deep of your dark resentment and live on". This line gives me chills for some reason. What a great episode.

#SUNDAYRUNDOWN BLEACH Kubo wanted to include the Irazusando in the manga, but due to his health and time constraints he couldn't. In the Blu-Ray we actually learn what this training actually does. [These are comments by the series director] The Irazusando pathway tries to push people away from the stone road, the more one tries to resist the push, the heavier the bokuto (wooden sword) gets. Ichigo dragged his feet forward to not stray away from the stony pathway, and the pathway of Irazusando is actually 'cursed. As one walks through the Irazusando road, they are not supposed to look at the stone path, but focus on the torii-gate instead. Ichigo suffered because his gaze was on the stone. The heavier his steps became, the torii-gate turned whiter and whiter. The rain that falls outside makes the body decay, so if Ichigo had strayed off the road, his body would have rotted away. Irazusando road is depicted as an 'Inka hall'. 'Inka' means a philosophical 'seal' in which obtaining the seal is considered to be the highest form of understanding of one's innermost soul. 'Inka' translates to 'transmission' in which a student receives his teacher's philosophies. Here, Ichigo's zen buddhist teacher is the monk, and Ichigo obtains the seal from Ichibe Hyosube, which is meant to uplift or evolve Ichigo's soul. Also cannot wait for the rest of cour 2 and for y'all to start cour 3. I hope y'all do discord discussion questions for cour 3, as it has a ton of content both in the manga and completely new. Definitely do one for the first batch you watch for cour 3

Kayso

First Shinji bankai and now we get Komamura bankai. Back to back hype with TYBW greatness. Komamura's human form is dope.

Aus

#SundayRundown The other voice actor for Kenpachi is actually in the original Bleach also. He voices him after the Nnoitra fight and also the Fullbringer arc. Also, keep in mind at this point Sajin is the FIRST/ONLY character to beat a Quincy in their release form. Ichigo technically didnt beat Quilge. I just find it so cool how out of nowhere and out of all the captains Sajin is the one to accomplish that feat. Furthermore he defeated the leader of a whole subgroup of the sternritters who easily could've had an impact with her ridiculous aoe attacks

Aus

Shinjis bankai on grunts. The original bankai is much better

Phil

For some reason I feel like Kubo writes Shinji like he's his favorite character but at the same time he doesn't want Shinji to be his favorite character

Nabeshin

Precisely! It's significant both times he looses to Aizen, 'cause he gets immediately slumped, but so does everybody against that MFer! Of course, if you look at his battle with Bass-B, where he gets temporarily defeated but then an outside force revives him, if that counts as an L, then the same principle applies to all his opponents who had to get unfrozen by a third party.

Nabeshin

It makes sense for pacing reasons to keep what's happening to Ichigo in Irazusando strictly to implication, with him understanding just enough to keep pressing onward and needing no further explanation. Still, I love me some deep lore and world building, and I'm glad there's always more to read up on at least; even though I wish more of it was put in the series proper.

Anderson Lake(The Bleach)

Sajin Komamura’s Zanpakuto Tenken (Shikai) - “Heavenly Retribution” Release command is “Roar” Kokujō Tengen Myō'ō (Bankai) - “Divine Retribution, Black Ropes of Ruination” Kokujō Tengen Myō'ō: Dangai Jōe (Human Form Bankai) - “Divine Retribution, Black Ropes of Ruination: Armor Repulsion Rope Raiment”

#Sunday Rundown So its time for you to hear about some interesting fandom stuff that was going around at the time of Bleach airing. So Komamura was considered a bit of a meme. The joke was basically that Komamura could never win, not as much a meme as Chad or Renji but a meme non the less. However this chapter in the manga basically made people weep for a person who had this said about him in a relatively large fandom area: "There is one fundamental truth to the universe greater than the fact that filler villains always win their first fight, and its that Komamura always loses."

Masked Void

[Tidbits] - We learned from Kluboutside that the surname Komamura was given to Sajin by Yamamoto - Here Komamura has given his heart, his very life for his cause, and in this case it's for revenge. This is a through-line setup with his conflict with Tosen, who he condemned for seeking revenge, and just like Tosen Komamura is left here an empty hollow man, which is a pretty potent message. (Komamura giving his heart is also a nod to his line when he was speaking to Tosen before he died. He said: "If I lost you, I would have a hole in my heart") . - Kubo-Sensei wanted to include the Irazusando theme in the manga, but due to certain restraints, he couldn't. So In the Blu-Ray we actually get to learn what this training actually does. [These are comments by the series director] : The Irazusando pathway tries to push people away from the stone road, the more one tries to resist the push, the heavier the bokuto (wooden sword) gets. : Irazusando road is depicted as an 'Inka hall'. [Sidenote: The Humanification technique has always been interesting to me, metaphorically it seems that to be Human means having desire yet the aspect that makes you a beast is giving into those desires despite knowing what harm may come from it.] [Sidenote2: Quincy are depicted as angelic, they dress in all white and have wings when they use Volstanding, where as Shinigami are death gods who dress in all black, this speaks to the very gray nature of Bleach as a story and actually is a nice hint to larger lore implications.]

Step B.

Yea Bambi would cause monumental issues with her Schrift against most opponents. I wonder what happened to her after they found her

#Sunday Rundown https://youtu.be/8ofKrRHECkI?si=py4zDXgA2x578klB The link above is Kisuke and Aizen talking about the soul king. Since you guys started talking about what the soul king is or what. Plus I love how Aizen and yhwa definitely throw in that the soul society isn't entirely in the right of how they do things. Love how kubo throws in gray elements into the world of bleach. Especially Osho because of what shunsui said saying about what his true motivations are.

Nina

I love shinji so much I will take any opportunity to say that. My goat.

YungZeus

Jfc, hearing Komamura’s dub in this episode for the first time and he absolutely killed it. Same with the big dog Yamamoto (tho, his voice is just satisfying). One thing that made me realize from this episode, the thing that makes him different from Tosen, is that he didn’t abandon his comrades for his revenge. He knew he was on a time limit and he still helped them.

YungZeus

If you’re talking about the novel, they were on grunts too.
