#sundayrundown NOOOOOO, GET UP MISTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! The hype brought by Mask and James was off the charts, with every hit punctuated by an emphatic "GOD DAMN" that matched the sheer brutality of the animation. The visual impact of the fight was amplified by the animation team’s expert use of blunt force trauma effects, and even Rose’s powerful throw was so exaggerated it almost suggested a career in quarterbacking. The introductory episode laid out just how wild the Sternritter Schifts are going to get, and it’s clear that the way abilities are explained in Bleach isn’t just a typical battle manga trope—it’s a fundamental part of the series' identity. The characters fight with a sense of honor, always introducing themselves with their names and ranks, and engaging in straightforward, one-on-one duels with minimal sneaky tactics (save for a few clever exceptions like Kyoraku). In the Bleach universe, the explanation of a character’s unique power isn’t a sign of weak writing; rather, it’s a critical element that ties together their inner identity with their combat style. These powers aren’t randomly obtained or taught in a classroom—they emerge from within, shaped by each character's very nature. This in-depth connection between power and personality not only makes the battles more engaging but also offers strategic moments where explaining one’s abilities can intimidate an opponent, as seen when Komamura’s description of his power caused Bambietta to back off instantly. The characters live by a strict code: honor, clear communication, and respect for one-on-one combat, where even the act of explaining their abilities reinforces their commitment to fairness and personal valor, no matter how disadvantageous it might seem in the heat of battle. Beyond the core action, there’s a wealth of added and modified content that enriches the narrative and differentiates the anime from the manga. The episode includes expanded scenes like the entire pre-credits sequence, extra dialogue from Rose during his Bankai activation against Masculine, and even moments such as Rukia carrying Rose and Kensei to Isane and Squad 4. There are also notable differences in cut content and altered sequences—from changes in dialogue during the high-stakes confrontations to subtle shifts in the presentation of key moments like the Star Man Killer Punch and the formation of multiple James characters in the manga versus the more comedic take in the anime. These revisions not only refine the pacing and impact of each scene but also underscore the series’ intricate approach to blending power, honor, and personality, ensuring that every element, cut or expanded, serves the story’s dynamic core.

#SundayRundown Bleach TYBW It’s time to RUMBAAAAAALE!!!!! The Animalistic True BAN-KAI: So-Oh Zabimaru (Baboon/Twin King Snake Tail) The true form of Renji's Bankai takes on a more compact form that is predominately worn. On his right wrist, Renji gains a gauntlet resembling the top portion of a snake's skull, with a cowl of red fur surrounding its base. In previous Bankai, the blade turned into a giant skeletal snake that fires beams while its owner dons a baboon pelt but the weapon's form is revealed to be an imperfect bankai as Renji now know and reveals his weapon's true bankai: So-Oh Zabimaru. As for Mask De Masculine, Fun Fact: James was his true holder of The Superstar, as he was a manifestation of what James considered to be his "ideal hero". Which is why Yhwach mentioned "James has died". As long as one of them was still alive, the other would come back to life. Add in the power-up and healing James could give Mask and it truly was a really broken ability. This was confirmed by Kubo in his KlubOutside Q&A 185. Honestly, not surprising considering mask de masculine seemed to be just a puppet.

Bleach TYBW Episode 18- Rages at Ringside Keyword Page 1: Bankai: Kinshara Butōdan (“Final Release: Golden Shala/Sal Tree Dance Troupe") “Bankai of the 3rd Squad Captain of the 13 Court Guard Squads, Rōjūrō Ōtoribashi. At the same time as the Bankai is activated, the shape of the sword transforms from a gold whip (in it’s Shikai form) to a cordwork-like structure, transforming into a pair of large hands holding a conducting baton and a dance troupe of more than a dozen dancers that are commanded a hand directing them. The dance troupe under Rōjūrō's command produces various illusions in accordance with what song is performed. The true nature of these illusions is a musical melody as sound itself. The illusory melody steals the hearts of the opponents,  while at the same time turning the hallucinations into reality, causing damage and eventually leading to death” Episode 18 Keyword 2: Bankai: Tekken Tachikaze (“Final Release: Iron Fist Severing Wind”) “Bankai of the 9th Squad Captain of the 13th Court Guard Squads, Kensei Muguruma. The zanpakuto has the ability to produce explosions in the cutting path of the blade. ‘Tekken Tachikaze’ is a Bankai that concentrates the power of that explosion into the knuckle blades that it forms. The shape  of the knuckle blades can be changed according to the combat situation. As long as the fist is in contact with the enemy, it will continue to cause rapid fire explosions into the enemy causing accumulative damage.”

SUNDAY RUNDOWN If I recall, this will be the last sunday rundown for some time, enjoy your trip to Japan guys! I do find it funny that you got a wrestling episode just as the girls are getting into it, shocker that Pat was rooting for the heel again. There's honestly not much to say about this episode that hasn't been said already, it's surprisingly linear with it mostly focusing on Mask, and then Renji arrives to absolutely stomp him. That's a bankai 3 episodes in a row, do I hear 4? ;) I also might need Penguin🐧 to help me out since you guys haven't seen the cour 2 trailer, he could link it in the email or upload it so you don't get recommended any Bleach content. it was so hype when it came out but spoiled quite a bit. You've finished the season now so it's fine to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53_QT4NSB48

I

#SundayRundown #Bleach I know Renji deserved and needed this win but, man, Rose didn't deserve to go down like this lol. His Bankai is another all time favourite of mine, love the eerie feeling to it. Also, there's definitely a lot of shounen typical criticisms you can validly level at Bleach but, I really like that Kobe emphasises the importance of a relationship and experience between shinigamis and their zanpaktous. You almost always see people with young bankais struggling and I really appreciate him taking the time to drive that point home. I also like that he gives the zanpaktous personalities.

Justin Chere

Soo Zabimaru means twin kings snake tail

penguin299

Was this confirmed by Kubo? I always figured James was also just Mask's real name and that he gave it to the being born from his power when he took on the moniker of Mask De Masculine. I'm not sure how James would have come back to life like Mask said if he was the actual holder of the power.

All Mighty Lowercase Jay

Ok, remember back to what Ishin told Ichigo Yhwach has a power called Auswahlen that allows him to take the power from other Quincy. This is what he was doing when he absorbed James/Mask.

Step B.

Yea long been confirmed. They only died because Mask ashed them all before getting ashed himself

Xonok

Renji finally gets a real win, and poor Rose and Kensei their bankai's were cool but they were fodderize worse than Toshiro.

Nabeshin

#SundayRundown #BLEACH And with that, Renji finally steps out from Chad’s shadow! 🤣 No but seriously. Even though Renji is obviously way more of an important character, and gets into way more significant fights than Chad, if we’re just talking straight wins and losses within the narrative, Chad’s had 1 more W than Renji for the majority of the series. With their co-victory against Battikaroa in Hueco Mundo, Chad picked up 3 dubs to Renji’s 2. Renji tied it up with his victory over Jacky Tristan, and now he finally has 4 victories after massacreing mister Mask de Masculine. RENJI Total canon wins: 4 Total canon losses: 9 CHAD Total canon wins: 3 Total canon losses: 4

Yhwach

what? Toshiro never damaged anyone. Sternritter S Mask was way too strong for those captains but still they landed hits

Step B.

#SundayRundown - There has been a large misconception through a lot of the fandom that the reason Renji’s Bankai wasn’t his real one was because he used the same 3 day method that Urahara and Ichigo used; which is false. The doll they used was simply a way to force the Zanpakuto spirit into the physical world which is one of the steps to learning Bankai, but Renji could already do so naturally. His new Bankai So’o Zabimaru (Twin Kings Snake’s Tail) is one of my favorites in the series especially compared to his previous one Hihio Zabimaru (Baboon King Snake’s Tail) looking back it’s a bit of a hint that his bankai wasn’t at full potential because Zabimaru itself if you might recall is a talking white furred baboon with a talking white snake for a tail “twin kings” yet his old bankai was just a giant bone serpent with the only thing representing the baboon was the fur cloak on Renjis shoulders

Step B.

Not really accurate

Gremmy Thoumeaux

#Sunday Rundown: Kubo confirmed that James is the true Sternritter S while Mask was a manifestation of what James considered to be his "ideal hero,” which is why Yhwach said James’ name. That’s right, 2 Captains were beaten by what is essentially someone’s imaginary friend.

Denickart

Chad has 4 or 5 canon Ls. He lost to Yammy twice, Shunsui, and Nnoitra. 5 counting Di Roy since he would've been oneshotted had Ichigo not saved him at the last

Bleach Calaminator

It was confirmed by Kubo in his KlubOutside Q&A 185. Honestly, not surprising considering mask de masculine seemed to be just a puppet.

Nabeshin

Yammy 0 got his fight with Chad, Renji, and Rukia interrupted by Ichigo before he could defeat them. Chad didn't even fight D-Roy. Almost getting killed unexpectedly, but avoiding death, is not a battle that was lost.

Adan Guzman

#Sunday Rundown Let’s finally put some respect on Renji’s name! He went from being put into critical condition by a single drop kick from Mask to outperforming 2 veteran Captains in their Bankai and defeated a Mask that was stronger than the one they fought since he gets stronger with every cheer.

Kail Andrews

#SundayRundown Bleach You guys have been disrespecting my boy Toshiro for so long, saying he has less W than Renji so I’m here to prove otherwise. Here’s his track record up to this episode: Vs Gin-draw Vs Aizen-lost Vs Shawlong-win Vs Yammy-interrupted Vs Luppi-win Vs Harribel-win Vs Harribel round 2-interrupted Vs Aizen-lost Vs Yukio-win Vs Cang Du-interrupted Vs Bazz-B-lost Vs Cang Du-win As you can see most of his battles are either interrupted or W’s, the main issue is that he rarely kills his opponents due to plot or being somewhat relevant, also when he loses it’s against opponents he didn’t stand a chance. Or worst, they make him take a massive beating before winning so people just remember him getting beat up all the time.

Gremmy Thoumeaux

#Sunday Rundown: The Visoreds often received a lot of criticism for not using their Hollow Masks despite it being a power boost and being told that Hollow Spirit energy is poisonous to Quincy. Although I can’t imagine it making much of a difference here since Mask can regenerate and Kensei probably wouldn’t be able to close the gap in power if Mask got as strong as he did against Renji.

Denickart

Chad was already unconscious on the ground by the time Ichigo arrived against Yammy 0. And Chad was expecting a fight when Di Roy arrived and had already activated his Fullbring. He just got speedblitzed.

LegitIQ

next ep is so peak

Jackie Gibson

It took till the end of the series lol but Renji FINALLY got a worthy fight and a sick power up to go with it, Renji fans went wild when this episode came out, and I'm happy for them. My personal favorite comes up next and I think the anime does it absolutely spectacular.

Yhwach

Normies we need next episode now.

Doc Anime!

All of Renji’s losses made sense though, except for Ichigo, but ima chop that up to “plot”. He only loses to ppl above his level. Byakuya is his captain, Aizen….no explanation needed, Espada 8 had Batman levels data on him, Yammy is just pure strength/rage, and the Quincies were beating on everyone once they showed up. I never thought of Renji being weak. He’s a lieutenant for a reason.

Johnathan E Llorente

Agreed. Hope they can replay at the end the sub version. So eerie lol

SilentCilantro

As Nodt's sub voice actor goes HAM next episode. the poem isn't even 10% of what he can do.

AI analysis of comments so far 1. Renji’s Long-Awaited Breakthrough Key Observation: Many fans have noted that Renji had been fighting without his full potential for most of the series. The excitement stems from finally seeing him unleash a true, formidable Bankai—a power-up that many felt was overdue after years of incremental growth and setbacks (including his past, less potent Bankai forms). Jackie Gibson (29min ago): "It took till the end of the series lol but Renji FINALLY got a worthy fight and a sick power up to go with it, Renji fans went wild when this episode came out, and I'm happy for them. My personal favorite comes up next and I think the anime does it absolutely spectacular." Analysis: Jackie’s comment captures the sentiment of anticipation and relief among fans. The statement implies that Renji’s transformation was not just about a power increase but about finally matching his long build-up with an appropriately spectacular display of strength. This echoes the broader view that his previous efforts and sacrifices were leading toward an overdue moment of redemption and validation. 2. The Evolution of Renji’s Bankai Key Observation: A recurring theme in the discussion is the distinction between Renji’s earlier, underdeveloped Bankai and his new form—So’o Zabimaru, sometimes referred to as Twin Kings Snake’s Tail. Contributors highlight that his former Bankai was merely a stepping stone, a “doll” used to channel his Zanpakutō spirit, and was never truly representative of his power. Step B. (2h ago): "There has been a large misconception through a lot of the fandom that the reason Renji’s Bankai wasn’t his real one was because he used the same 3 day method that Urahara and Ichigo used; which is false. The doll they used was simply a way to force the Zanpakuto spirit into the physical world which is one of the steps to learning Bankai, but Renji could already do so naturally. His new Bankai So’o Zabimaru (Twin Kings Snake’s Tail) is one of my favorites in the series especially compared to his previous one Hihio Zabimaru (Baboon King Snake’s Tail) looking back it’s a bit of a hint that his bankai wasn’t at full potential because Zabimaru itself if you might recall is a talking white furred baboon with a talking white snake for a tail 'twin kings' yet his old bankai was just a giant bone serpent with the only thing representing the baboon was the fur cloak on Renji’s shoulders." Analysis: Step B.’s comment delves into a key aspect of Renji’s character development. It refutes common misconceptions by clarifying that the earlier Bankai was more of a provisional form—the “doll” was a technique rather than his genuine power. In contrast, his new Bankai is portrayed as a genuine manifestation of his evolving strength and identity. By contrasting the old and new forms, the comment emphasizes that Renji’s previous limitations (symbolized by the incomplete physical form of his weapon) were overcome, allowing him to access his true power. 3. The Impact of Past Traumas on Renji’s Power Key Observation: A central point driving the discussion is the idea that previous battles—most notably his fight with Byakuya during the Soul Society arc—had a lasting impact on Renji’s abilities. Many believe that these encounters effectively “shattered” parts of his Bankai, meaning that for much of the series, he was operating with a handicap. Only now has he managed to reclaim his full potential. The Bird of Hermes (3h ago): "and so we have finally witnessed Renji's true power, for the entire series he was fighting without his full power, because during Soul Society when he fought Byakuya parts of his 'Bankai' were shattered making it weaker and even before then Zabimaru never truly acknowledged him." Analysis: This comment serves as a summary of the overarching narrative of Renji’s development. It connects back to earlier arcs in the series (specifically his battle with Byakuya) to explain why his previous Bankai was never fully realized. The notion that parts of his Bankai were “shattered” implies that Renji’s struggles were not simply about personal growth but were also the result of lasting injuries—both physical and metaphorical. Now that these limitations have been overcome, fans see his current display of power as a culmination of long-simmering narrative threads, which deepens the emotional and dramatic impact of his transformation. Conclusion In summary, the discussion threads reflect a multifaceted appreciation for Renji’s breakthrough: Delayed Gratification: Fans like Jackie Gibson express relief and jubilation over the long-awaited power-up, highlighting its impact on long-term character arcs. Transformation and Authenticity: As explained by Step B., the evolution from an incomplete, makeshift Bankai to the full realization of his true Bankai underscores Renji’s genuine growth. Narrative Trauma and Reclamation: The Bird of Hermes encapsulates the idea that Renji’s battle history, particularly past traumas like the fight with Byakuya, played a key role in limiting his power until he finally reclaimed his true abilities. By selecting these three comments in full, we see a comprehensive picture: Renji’s earlier limitations due to past damage, his journey towards mastering his Zanpakutō, and the resultant catharsis in finally seeing him unleash a full, unbridled power. This layered narrative enriches the viewing experience, ensuring that fans appreciate not only the spectacle but also the emotional and thematic build-up that has defined his evolution.

Step B.

The way people complain about it you’d think it was a Pokémon battle. At most it’d make the Quincy slightly weaker but if the gap in spirit energy isn’t huge then I doubt it’d make a noticeable difference

Kuro

Very simplified explanation for #Bleach #Rundown So-Oh means Twin Kings Hihioh means Babboon King Orochioh means Snake King If you remember the manifestation of Zabimaru, it was a baboon with a snake for its tail, both have their distinct personality. In the past, Renji was inoy fighting with a half awaken Bankai, this is his complete bankai

Nabeshin

Had to go back and check that Yammy 0 episode, and you're right. I completely forgot that Rukia was the only one still fighting. That's 1 more L each for Chad and Renji. However, I'm not counting the D-Roy sneak attack. It doesn't matter that Chad intended to go and fight someone. He didn't fight D-Roy. He was prevented from suddenly dying. There was no fight, and there was no win or loss.

Nabeshin

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🫡 THANK YOU! In total, the boy has 10 full fights so far, with only 3 losses. I would call his first fight with Cang Du a draw, since we don't see it, but it's implied that Cang Du simply retreated along with the rest of the Quincies. If you consider making your opponent unable to fight a win, regardless of whether or not a 3rd party rescues them later, then Hitsugaya's got 5 dubs. Given how The Normies feel about him loosing to Bazz-B, or for that matter, how Bambi lost to Komamura, this should be the tally. If you DON'T consider that result a W, then Hitsugaya's got 2 dubs, 2 losses, and 5 draws. STILL better stats than Renji. 😛

Robenson BADETTE

Not fair on Renji at all... Renji almost always fight people stronger than him : Ichigo (the MC), Byakuya (his captain), Aizen (the main antagonist, Szayel (sealed his bankai), Yammy (Espada 0)

Sashi

You guys are in for such a treat next ep!

Toes24

I know you guys probaly already did the next episode but if not can you guys pls do the sub just for next episode.

XXI

yes Chris, sometimes you have to beat your swords ass to get them in line😆 also yeah, Renji was nerfed hard. the sword though he still a b1tch and not worthy to wield him.. YET

XXI

Jettro Jettro was so damn happy when this came up

XXI

yeah, the hollow might have given them temporary advantage but it sucks up alot of reiatsu. better to be in shinigami form for long battles. but in the end the reiatsu gap was and still is the deciding factor

XXI

mind you, Renji even unlocked true bankai, than other captains first XD

Masked Void

[Tidbits] - I enjoy how Mask's/James power is a quick reflection of the relationship between Superstars and Fans. It's a reminder that Superstars are only as important as their fans make them, if you step over your fans then you lose it all. - The Battle of Renji vs Mask is also a nod to when Renji said that he was simply a dog barking at the stars back in the Soul Society Arc. - The aspect about Renji not knowing his Zanpaktou's True name is something we experienced in part with Yumichikia, If you recall Yumichika intentionally calls his Zanpaktou a wrong name which results in a half-released shikai. We also learned when Renji fought Byakuya that his Bankai was still immature so it was bound to improve at some point. [Sidenote: The beginning of Mask v Renji is slightly different in the manga, it's has more moments of Renji overpowering Mask.] - Renji's original Bankai name was "Hihio Zabimaru" which translates to Baboon King Snake Tail, referencing only the Baboon as the King whereas the True Name "Sōō Zabimaru" means Two Kings Snake Tail. - Many question "Why aren't the Vizards using their mask", the answer is honestly quite simple, if you think about it in most of the fights they haven't needed them. For example, Shinji was easily winning until he was straight up blindsided/caught of guard, same thing happens here, Kensei has 0 issue until Mask gets a random power up, then it's too late to pull out the Hollow Mask. Same with Rose, he was winning then a sudden change of events turned the tables. - As many may comment, Judging by Yhwach's words, James is the real sternritter. This was confirmed by Kubo in his Klub Outside QnA's, Mask De Masculine is simply a being that's made from James' ideal of a Hero, which is why no matter how often he went down James could simply bring him back, James is the Fan and as long as Fans Exist, the Hero can never fade. (also why his design and name are so cartoonishly over the top) - Soken Ishida is interesting, he seems important enough that someone like Jugram Haschwalth knows him by name, it makes you wonder what was his position back when Shinigami and Quincy were at war.

Yhwach

They have already done thw whole season. They r now going to Japan

Kayso

So much hype with all the bankais we've been getting these past few episodes. Loved Rose's bankai it was super creative. When he did the fire and water attack I assumed he's the first person with a Zanpakuto that has two different elements but like he said it was only an illusion. Renji's new bankai form is fire and the new drip is insane. The ost went crazy too, it's the same lady (Hazel Fernandes) who sings Number One. 🔥🔥🔥

BindingofNack

Thus starts the most generational run of hype moments ever seen, Idk if they take their foot off the gas from here on out.

KyrianSalvar

Him losing to Ichigo wasn't plot. 1. Ichigo wasn't fighting with the intent to kill. Once he gained that he won. 2. Old man zangetsu suppressed his powers unless ichigo facing death. He loosens ups, or gives him some quincy power to help (see kenpachi fight) 3. White helped by dulling an attack that would have ended the fight. We see later the cracked mask that was under his robe.

Snadow

I'mma be honest. When we have Bankais with so many crazy powers it seems really arbitrary that none can have multiple elements.

TsukishimaGlazer

My goat Tsukishima would dog walk Mask and Renji at the same time.
