Sunday Rundown! Still can't believe that you guys didn't realize that her name is Yachiru, and kept calling her Yachirou instead lmao, no wonder you didn't clock that she was named after Unohana. Really cool that we finally got to see her fighting though, defo one of the fave shikai's in the series. That was just the undercard for this episode, the main event just kept escalating to the point where it was becoming suffocating, especially when Kenny was stuck in literal outer space. That being said, I do appreciate that the anime decided to pace this at break neck speed in comparison to how it dragged in the manga. I also find it funny how Gremmy was unintentionally hyped for you, only for that fucker to lose in his first fight and reveal that he's been a brain this entire time, which, yes, was shown at the poem of the last episode. We also got another original ost remix, this time being "What can you see in their eyes" which was dropped around the time Gremmy decided to throw down that meteor. The reveal of Nozarashi was so badass too, after witnessing 3 new bankai's in subsequent episodes, we get 2 pretty damn impressive shikai's here. Wonder what's in store for us next? We can only imagine ;)

Bleach TYBW Episode 20- I Am The Edge Keyword Page 1: Sanpo Kenjū (“Three-Step Sword Beasts”) “Sanpo Kenju is both the name of the ‘sword’ wielded by 11th squad lieutenant Yachiru Kusajishi and the mysterious sword-beasts that are always present in front of and behind Yachiru's sword. The front beast, covered in fur, is called ‘Mokomoko’, while the rear beast, which looks like a cloth-clad skeleton, is called ‘Honehone’. Shuhei Hisagi once attempted to interview Yachiru in Seireitei Tsūshin (Court of Spirit Souls Communication) regarding her sword, but was only able to obtain the names of two of them. It is unclear whether they’re just her Shikai or if they're even actual life forms.” Episode 20 Keyword Page 2: Schrift “V” (“Holy Script “V”) “Schrift of the SternRitter Gremmy Thoumeaux. It represents the ability of ‘The Visionary’ to turn fantasy into reality. Guenael Lee who also called himself ‘V’ (Vanishing Point), but was only merely being created by Gremmy's ability of imagination. Due to the danger and the extent of the impact it had, Gremmy was imprisoned in a cage in the Silbern (Silver Castle), which was sealed by a special barrier ward created by Yhwach.”

#SundayRundown Bleach TYBW This episode is Bleach Cinema. The Most Animalistic Shikai- NOZARASHI (Weather Beaten One/Exposed to the Wilds) By stating the command, "Drink", Kenpachi can activate Nozarashi's Shikai form. Nozarashi's released form resembles a gigantic axe, with enough cutting power to slice through practically anything. Its cutting power is greatly enhanced, allowing Kenpachi to effortlessly cut through the bodies of his opponents and even through meteor and space itself. Regarding the title of the episode, Unohana said back in Episode 10: “During our battle, we both experienced a sense of joy such as we’d never felt. The difference was, you found joy fighting on the Edge, instead of fighting to win, you learned that fighting me, and that is my sin. Everyone you’d ever met had been weaker than you. You had run out of enemies to test your sword against. Until you met me. I was the first opponent you’d ever encountered who could rival your power. But only rival it” Fun Fact: Yachiru is the name Kenpachi gave her after the person he admired- Yachiru Unohana. They’re the same name. And now the same happens here. Gremmy is what happens when you give a Child the mind of God (Soul King) He probably could’ve imagined Kenpachi out of existence but aside from and due to the lack of spiritual pressure, he wanted to test him out and beat him fair and square, as well as break down his hope and spirits.

AttackRunRepeat

The comments really have become a trivia dump lately.

Funny suraj said he was a visionary

Bleach Calaminator

Nah, just people‘s general thoughts and breakdown tidbits of the episodes

Temperistic

Nah, just people trivia dumping

Whatever

Just a tiny random fun fact Renji and Orihime never interacted with one another.

#SundayRundown This is one of the longer fights so they cut many lines from others who aren't Gremmy & Kenpachi which weakens how Gremmy is really much stronger than the anime gives him credit for. He's top 3 in all of Bleach however the anime cuts multiple lines from Quincies which prove that very fact - "Askin" The line was "What was his majesty thinking letting a guy like that venture out into the open" We see other Quinces scared and worried about why he's free implying Gremmy was locked away - Askin and another Quincy question Gremmy and they go deeper in on how any dream he thinks of will come true - Askin responds "And you think hey, maybe it's not such a bad think that most dreams don't come true" - When Gremmy brings down the meteorite Askin says "This is why I said we should've kept him locked up and never let him out." Gremmy would've won however he was the quincy too strong for his own good to the point Yhwach kept him locked away - this explains why he wasn't at the first invasion also. Plus other quincies rush to safety and Haschwalth screams to protect the sleep Yhwach

Step B.

There is a reason they re-animated that flashback with Kenpachi and Yachiru. I’m not gonna point it out or hint at what it means, just that it’s important. That aside though fun fact Gremmy was imprisoned in the Quincy castle until just before the current invasion and his only friend was Liltotto (the short blonde Sternritter that’s always snacking) she would come and get him to imagine sweets for her that tasted bad cause he didn’t know enough about good tasting food to imagine delicious sweets. (You guys brought up the poems and there’s video compilations of all of them for each Cour they’re barely a minute and a half long each if you were curious about hearing them again with all the knowledge)

Nabeshin

You guys remembered the scene where Yachiru and Kenpachi met, but you DIDN'T remember that her name was Yachiru, or that Unohana's real name is Yachiru, and that when Kenny saw that the baby he met didn't have a name, he gave her that name and said "It's the name of the person I admire most." 😉 --- Correction Suraj: There's not a handful of people with two bankai. There's a handful of people with 2 zanpakuto, period. Kyouraku has 2 swords that both transform when he releases his shikai, Katen Kyoukotsu. Ukitake has one sword, but when he releases his shikai, it becomes two, Sogyo no Kotowari. Ichigo now has 2 swords that, just like his previous sword, are always in shikai form. --- HOT TAKE: Kenpachi's shikai feels redundant. We've seen his little skinny sword cut through just about anything, and it's not hard to imagine (😏) him doing the same to that meteor; ESPECIALLY considering he hadn't even taken his eyepatch off during this fight! So the fact he brought out a big axe was "...Eh." for me. Granted, we've never seen a shikai that big before, but aside from it's impressive mass, I was disappointed it wasn't radically different; like an armored gauntlet or a shotgun or something wild. 😛

Anderson Lake(The Bleach)

Those last things wouldn't fit though. So what you were expecting isn't really that great either. It fits Kenpachi. That's the most important thing.

ShaquanVirse

I think CFYOW Will be animated which is why i didn't mention the Litotto part. LOl I have faith it'll be announced "Should I have faith?"

Aneesh Paul

Broken power but in wrong hands Imagine Aizen with the power of visionary

Nabeshin

I wasn't EXPECTING anything specific. I just threw those examples out there because something wild and crazy absolutely fits him. Maybe not a projectile weapon (again, I was just coming up with crazy examples), but something that augments his bare hands I think definitely fits.

#SundayRundown Bleach TYBW ‏Because some people will say this was Plot armor and is not true Because Zarki won because his reiatsu was higher it's not the author's fault that you didn't understand the power system there are some things you guys need to understand: Why Gremmy didn't use his ability to erase Zaraki from existence? The reason is very simple: In Zaraki fight against Ichigo Zaraki tells Ichigo that two spiritual forces colliding results in the weaker of the two absorbing the impact and In Aizen fight against the Gotei 13 Soifon stabs Aizen with Suzumebachi her ability won't work Because he has used his Reiatsu to suppress the effects of her ability and Tatsuki was able to withstand Aizen Reiatsu which erases existence Aizen compliments Tatsuki for being able to continue existing despite him being so close to her even weak characters like Tatsuki can resist characters like Aizen from erasing their existence and Zaraki is not affected by the ability of Gremmy Because Zaraki has a higher Reiatsu than Gremmy We know that because Zaraki didn't take off his eyepatch

#Sunday Rundown - Bleach The Visonary is a double edged sword in which you can imagine any thoughts you have including the negative ones but perhaps there might be a way to get around the weaknesses if you are creative enough. For example, you can imagine yourself that you are unable to be affected by your power in a negative way or be unable to think negative thought or have your brain rewired to function in that way.

Adan Guzman

People always wonder as to why Gremmy didn’t simply imagine Kenpachi dead or turn his bones to cookies and we never get an answer to why although fans have come with 1 of 3 explanations: 1. Zaraki’s Spiritual Pressure is higher than Gremmy’s so Gremmy can’t directly affect his body with imagination like how Aizen negated Soi Fon’s 2 sting kill Shikai. 2. Gremmy wanted to crush him with overwhelming force instead of taking the easy way out. 3. Kubo didn’t want the fight to be that easy.

Justin Chere

Gremmy lost because he tried to imagine having a body that was as strong as Kenpachi's but Kenpachi's strength is so immeasurable that Gremmy's imagination couldn't actually conceived of a body strong enough so the body he did imagine ended up destroyed itself do to not actually being strong enough

#SundayRundown Suraj had an interesting thought this week, where he was speculating about Yachiru if she had a bankai. He said that because her shikai manifests two spirits, she might be like one of those dual bladed soul reapers (as a reminder, the only dual bladed soul reapers we know of thus far are Shunsui, Ukitake, and now Ichigo). There’s something about them that i’d like to provide additional context for but unfortunately i can’t as it would spoil some stuff we don’t know about yet. When cour 3 reactions come around, i’ll post another Sunday Rundown comment about the dual bladers. Edit: Also shoutout to Normies patron Gremmy Thomieaux for making a guest appearance in cour 2 of Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War. Can’t wait until cour 3 comes around where Alex M makes a guest apperance and defeats Yhwach and all of the sternritters on his own!

Adan Guzman

If you guys think this episode was fast paced then the reason being is that they actually adapted 8 1/2 chapters of manga material in it which is nearly a full volume that usually contain 10 chapters each and did unfortunately cut content. When Gremmy killed Kensei and Rose, there’s a scene which Isane rushes to the bed and couldn’t sense their Spiritual Pressure anymore but the anime rushes through it. There’s also the reactions to the meteor from both the Quincies and Soul Reapers freaking out. I do wish this fight was adapted to at least 1 1/2 episodes because there’s so much you can do with imagination.

#SundayRundown Aizen did not want to fight Zaraki in the novel Bleach Spirits Are Forever With You Aizen comments that isolating Zaraki in Hueco Mundo was one of the positive effects of kidnapping Inoue. He figured that, if Kurosaki entered Hueco Mundo, Soul Society would also quicken its procedure to send captains to Hueco Mundo. And they did. Just as planned. Aizen thought that Yamamoto and Zaraki could pose the biggest hindrance to his plans. He wanted to avoid fighting Zaraki until after he had awakened the hôgyoku and gained his immortal body Aizen saw Zaraki as a bigger threat than Yamamoto. His only solution was not to fight Zaraki until he gained immortality.

Annah Suarez-Domit

#Sunday Rundown So there's two things to this episode that I think need to be stated from the manga/supplementary material. First is that when Askin(discount Aizen to y'all) reacts to Gremmy fighting he mentions that he was 'unsealed by the king' and that Yhwach was so scared of his power he was locked away whenever he wasn't fighting. Second is that during the end of the first attack on the Soul Society when Ichigo pulled up he one shot a random Sternritter who didn't get a letter. Tite Kubo later realized that he accidentally made an extra Sternritter for a total of 27 and so in a spin off novel he revealed that the scrub Sternritter was another creator of Gremmy who had specific powers that allowed him to become a 'real boy' essentially.

Pandrix

His shikai fits him perfectly especially with what we know from the manga

Gremmy Thoumeaux

#SundayRundown: Bleach You guys were wondering if there were any other Sternritters created by the Visionary and there sorta is one you’ve already seen. I imagine you might not have remembered Shaz Domino who appeared briefly in the 1st Invasion was someone who almost killed Akon right before Ichigo came to the Soul Society and easily dealt with him who never had a letter reveal in the entirety of the manga. Here’s the clip: https://youtu.be/Au6m6hqoLDk?si=Gii0WDjPMxkhjsq7 Seeing as how we don’t know what his letter was even after every letter of the alphabet was filled in, he was most likely forgotten about until the writer for CFYOW wrote in a backstory for him: https://youtube.com/shorts/hi797ywU2eE?si=EZE-n0O5L_F1bN32 So there’s 2 people created with also the letter V powers.

Gremmy Thoumeaux

This was the best shoutout I could’ve ever imagined, thanks guys! 😊 If you look at every comment I ever left, you can see I always sneak in the word, “imagine” or any other variation of the word in all the #Rundown comments. If you had the power of the Visonary, what would YOU come up with to try to beat Kenpachi? Make everything a spiral like in Uzumaki or summon Saitama for example. Yeah picture this power in the hands of someone who reads comics and manga. 😅

Informing The Normies or reminding them of aspect of the show is a really great part of the community for this and other shows. I love reading and hearing everyone opinions and it give me new perspectives to see.

#SundayRundown He didnt say bankai. Its not bankai, its his shikai. I swear someone let you guys know this. Of course you guys watch alot of shows so it can be understandable

Pojah 101

it was revealed Gremmy was always locked away when not fighting cos they feared his power. thats why he was childlike and probably wasted his powers

Masked Void

[Tidbits] - Yachiru's ability is quite strong, It strikes before she attacks, when she attacks, and after she attacks, making it nearly impossible for most people to evade. Also as Isane noted no Shinigami has a Shikai that doesn't change form once released (which is a hint that something is off) - A really interesting dynamic here is that Kenpachi, now that he's accepted his role, is doing the same thing Unohana did for him. He's Fighting Gremmy but also teaching him how to properly enjoy battle. - The anime cuts several reactions from both Shinigami and Quincy characters when Gremmy uses the Meteor. - Many fans claim that Gremmy is idiotic; however, he's more so sheltered, and this is why he began to feel ecstatic by fighting for the 1st time. The idea is that despite being able to imagine nearly anything he's likely experienced very little in life, from actions to even feelings. - In regards to Gremmy's power of imagination, many fans fail to understand that it has many drawbacks that could limit its strength. The 1st is that what one can imagine is based on experience, and Gremmy has lived a very confined life because it's alluded to in the manga (and confirmed in light novels) that he's kept locked away. The 2nd is that a person's imagination can do its own thing, so if you have involuntary negative thoughts, they will affect you like how Gremmy began to lose (You could even argue that Kenpachi saying that he can't be cut, made Gremmy imagine that into reality). 3rd is that it's limited to the speed of his thoughts. Lastly, it's not limitless as some claim, if he could just make anything a reality, Yhwach would have told him to imagine that every soul reaper was dead, but clearly, that's not the case, (It's also a matter of reiatsu; he'd need enough to make the ideas happen, but clearly you need a body strong enough to house certain levels of reiatsu.) - The scene with Kenpachi calling out his sword's name mixed with the Flashback of Yachiru not having a name is a huge in-your-face hint here, which some people somehow miss.

iman

Fun's over bro, change your profile pic to the brain now!

Shockzz1234

I hope they just adapt the mini novel featuring him vs a certain someone into the anime tbh. It's short enough that it could be it's own episode.

Kayso

Kenpachi's shikai was so fire and Gremmy's power is broken bro lol. We finally got to see Gremmy, I remember the first Sunday rundown of this year and you guys read Gremmy's comment and was wondering who that was and you seen his comment again and kept wondering but we couldn't say anything so you wouldn't be spoiled. Had to wait and find out and it didn't disappoint ofc. Next episode is gonna be insane

Marius Reini

So a little fun information and change from the manga to the anime. In the manga Gremmy was apprently sealed away because he was seen as a loose cannon and very dangerous to both the Quincies and their enemies. So he was released for whatever reason for the second invasion. However in the anime this was apprently changed. Because of 2 scenes, first one is when Uryu is announced as the successor to Yhwach in the big gathering you can see Gremmy standing casually in the front and is clearly not sealed or restrained. The other scene is by the big Sternritter meeting table you can see Gremmy sitting on the table casually. Why this was done, don't know but just fun to notice.

Nigel Kameri

Kenny and Battle Beast would be best friends to the death

PacoTaco

I can't imagine Chad losing

Norman Hopfeld

You need to watch Sailor Moon after this. It's not connected at all. But I don't think you ever watched a Shojo anime. It's time boys and girls :D

Zico2510

Heyyy i watched all 3 seasons of tybw ( new bleach fan here) and i was reading your comment which is great btw, i just wanted to ask what exactly do you mean by the last line i dont really understand what you mean of the big in your face hint that people miss about yachiru? am i missing something? i would love if you could inform me here or in dms. Thanks!

Zico2510

wait i just realized what you were talking about lol, its that kenny named yachiru after unohana

Mixedshinigami

Fun lil fact from the light novels so not really a spoiler but Aizen actually banked on soul society sending Kenny to hueco mundo so he could keep him out of the way during the fake karakura town arc before he fused with the hogyoku because he knew how strong Kenny actually was and didn't want to risk him unleashing his true power. Not saying he saw him as a monumental threat but he did see him as an obstacle

Paul-Junior Black

Important note about Gremmy its not only conscious imagine but subconscious as well. What I mean by that is. Gremmy accidentally started to imagine himself losing the fight. Which caused him to start losing and he accidentally imagined Kenny as a monster which kind of boosted Kenny in a way. Its like if you stepped on a crack and went "Imagine if my mom broke her back" You didn't willfully imagine that to happen but just the thought entering your mind would make it a reality. So he has to be very careful with what he thinks

Twisted IceCream

A bit of information here that I also see falsely misinformed by other comments: First, Gremmy's imagination is manifested by both conscious and subconscious thought. So it can be extremely volatile. It was given to Gremmy because the lower your intelligence the less dangerous and yet more effective it is. Secondly, when Gremmy sent Kenpachi to "space" it was actually a separate dimension created to replicate space. Kenny cut through space and that dimension. His shikai's ability is to literally "cut anything" and very VERY few things in the show can actually withstand more than a single blow from his sword. Third, Gremmy DID NOT power up Kenny when he "imagined" him as a monster. That wasn't an imagination. He literally viewed Kenny as such. It was more of an observation than anything else. Fourth, when Gremmy imagined himself stronger than Kenny, that power killed him. He doesn't need to know the actually level of power for his imagination to work. Let's say Kenny's power was 999, yet Gremmy never even tried to quantify his power level in any way, yet imagined he was stronger, his schrift would automatically put Gremmy's own "power level" above 999. This is because the power itself can already discern what it necessary. However, if Gremmy DID imagine it as 999, but it was actually 1499, then it would only gaurantee Gremmy's power to be above 999, but not 1499. THAT is why it is more imperative to give the power to someone of lesser intellect. They would not even think to try and quantify the power of their enemy. As such, they would automatically allow their power itself to do so for them. Now, the reason why Gremmy died after imagining himself stronger than Kenny is because Kenny's full, true power, was greater than what Gremmy's body could contain. So let that sink in. Gremmy had an insanely broken power to warp reality to the will of his imagination that is comparable in power to be ing able to destroy or create entire galaxies(a lot of information involved with knowing this, but not any sort of spoiler. I just read all of the LN). Yet, his body broke down only 2 seconds after imagining himself stronger than Kenny. As such, just imagine just how strong Kenny truly is, and he has yet to even unlock his Bankai. He only just unlocked his Shikai as well. Either way, in the LN and manga, Gremmy died because his body was literally unable to contain a power equal to, nor greater than, that in which Kenny holds. The anime kind of failed to properly convey that along with a few other things in this fight. These were just some of the more important aspects I felt to explain.

Won-da-Ys

Gremmy wasn't "given the ability". Spoiler: He is somewhat loosely confirmed to be some type of special item related to the Soul King. He wasn't "given" the power because he had "lower intelligence", he has always had the ability and existed even before Yhwach possibly being that he was going to be used as the brain of the being to replace the Soul King, even the very body he has was created by him. "So let that sink in. As such, just imagine how strong Kenny truly is, and he has yet to even unlock his Bankai"...this has nothing to do with Kenpachi's strength to be honest. The same thing would have happened if he tried to do the same to any other "top tier" character. He lost because he imagined Kenpachi's strength without changing his body (his original body was simply to give the brain a physical form). So it wasn't that Kenpachi's power was so vast that Gremmy couldn't theoretically overpower him, it was that Gremmy imagined kenpachi's power without also imagining or thinking of a body to hold said power. Tbh anything related to the soul king would almost certainly dwarf Kenpachi in power and need some sort of special loop hole to be defeated. He couldn't defeat Gerald, he got annihilated by pernida and the only reason Gremmy lost was because he made a mistake, which with his ability proved fatal.

Chris

Yes, Yachiru is also not technically real.
