Next episode is where the tournament ACTUALLY starts. Also the Yu Yu Hakusho live action is the second worst adaptation ever put to film; seconded only by Amazon's terrible Wheel of Time adaptation.

I find it funny that every #sundayrundown whoever is there says they are impressed at how the yu yu hakusho posts gets a lot of engagement and how they "dont really get the hype iet" but then I remember how Naruto and Bleach where the same hahahaha Its ok guys, those shows are slow burns and with time you get to like all the characters and everything, but i think there are things that are good right from the beginning, like the music or the lighting in some scenes, like the thunder in the back making only the silhouette of the fighers beein visible, it all adds to make the show so much dramatic and cool IMHO. Classic Anime like Yu Yu Hakusho, when done right, proves to me that you dont need flash and pyrotechnic animations to be cool and impressive, like some new animes does. You just need a good direction in the scene construction.

Fucking Amazon it wasn't bad enough they decided to tell the story Tolkien "couldn't tell" but I actually love WoT my mom got me the 1st book at Costco and I'd been following the books for years what Amazon did to it will never be forgotten I'd press criminal charges if I could the only thing I can think of that screwed the source material to a similar level is probably what Disney did to Artemis Fowl

It's also that we live in a time where many audiences expect instant gradification, like with the modern pop shows lile Demon Slayer or JJK you'd have 2 eps of set up and then BOOM! the rest of the season is go-go-go. Which is not really a bad thing, with this shows you learn about the characters through the battle, where's with this older shonens you have aot of character building and you feel like you're going with them into battle. Both are good, it's more of a which time you grew up with kind of thing, not necessarily if one is better than the other.

#SundayRundown #YuYuHakusho The problem with live-action Koenma is 2-fold: 1 - He's no longer an toddler with a personality to match; which automatically eliminates most of the charm of that character; including the fact that the adult form only exists because of his insecurities. 2 - The pacifier is CG. Granted, it's VERY hard to have a character talk with something in their mouth and have it be anything other than unintelligible and ridiculous. That said, making the pacifier CG and just having the actor talk normally is even MORE ridiculous and makes the whole thing look really strange.

It's has some great action and casting for Kuwabara and yusuke and some solid fights, Kuwabara's acting is actually perfect so him beung skinnier isn't really an issue and is realistic. The live action is just rushed a bit and Hiei and Kurama are not the best. I would say it's fine and they do show that they loved the show

Yuyu at one point was beating out DBZ head to head (believe it was while the Dark tournament was happening not sure what was happening in DBZ but that's what I heard at least)

YuYu Hakusho's live action is fine for what it is. It's only 4 episodes so they had to skip A LOT but the first half was the best 2 episodes of any live action adaptation Netflix has put out.

I couldn't even get the through 1 episode, I just couldn't stomach the live action for too long. I turned it off like 20 minutes in.

Second worst? Not even close. Death Note, Dragon Ball Evolution, The FMA movie, Cowboy Bebop, the Percy Jackson movies, The Dark Tower, ATLA Live Action are all worse, just off the top of my head. But the YYH live action isn't good either, yeah.

Damn I hate to say it but the fights are at the peak when Kuwabara is getting worked, I love my mans but him getting whooped is always hilarious. Walk the dog is the best movie that little kid could have used cause they dog walked the hell out of kuwabara. That being said another peak part of these fights is the commentary from the peanut gallery, between the fox girl and the humans it’s a treat.

That’s speculation from western fans because with no proof since there are no available per volume sales numbers from that time period. The speculation comes from The Dark Tournament and Cell Games running alongside each other for a period of time along with behind the scenes claims about the editorial involvement in the cell games concept. The Cell games consisted of 3 volumes The Cell Games, Gohan vs Cell, and Death of a Warrior. It’s hard to see Yu Yu Hakusho out selling 1 of those 3 given Dragon Balls insane popularity especially back then
