#SUNDAY RUNDOWN The reason toshiro is “badass” now is because he’s not honorable anymore / no longer clinging to a code of honor. He usually fights with honor and THAT is what prevents him from using his powers like that. He’s young, yes, but also he’s very honorable. Zombie Toshiro has no qualms using his power / doing whatever it takes to win. Maybe once he grows older, he’ll shed some of that “honor” and do whatever it takes to win a fight, but that’s just who he is as a person. he’s honorable.

Wasn't going to bring it up until the end but since Chris brought up his point about losing and not dieing it seems appropriate. Love him as a character, but Byakuya surviving pissed me off so much. His presence just kinda made everything here feel so cheap, ESPECIALLY Rukia vs Asnodt if she could have beaten him with Byakuyas bankai and no help. So many other characters could have gotten some decent wins here too (really think this setting at the end would've been perfect for Shinji, Hinamori, and Hisagi), though I get the time constraints.

#SundayRundown Bleach This is some recent new but I’m begging someone shows you the link or an image of it. Kubo decided to respond to a comment posted by a hater in which he proceeded to roast the hell out of him with a comically long response and became a massive meme. So a couple of interesting details in this episode, if you pay attention to his dialogue Yumichica was about to use his true shikai against Toshiro for hurting Ikkaku, so he was willing to reveal his secret for his friend. Regarding Byakuya, it was confirmed that his robe protected him from Pepe’s love attack and Nanana’s morphine. Also Byakuya is typecasted to fight people that can control minds (Zommari espada 8, Tsukishima, Pepe). This episode really highlights how power-scaling works in Bleach, Toshiro is more powerful than Mayuri in almost every aspect (speed, swordsmanship, raw power) but with his research he can “Batman” his way out of situations. Finally after this episode is where you can kiss the manga goodbye, they are still following the manga but they added and rearrange so any things in the end of cour 2 and all of cour 3 that you cannot longer use the manga as reference. Believe when I say the best yet to come, it is so good that cour 3 the highest rated anime season in history, with almost each episode having a 9 or above.

#SundayRundown #BleachTYBW Marching out the Zombies 2, I love that they gave Gigi the respect she deserved! Giselles The Zombie definitely does make Shinigami into corpses and as such they are dead. They used the word corpse for that reason but it does seem strange to have Hitsuguya and the other captains just outright dead. Chirs also pointed out that Blacksuguya has a completely different outfit on. With Giselles personality, you can definitely imagine that she stripped him naked and played dress up with sternritters clothes. He definitely has more drip than when he was a soul reaper. Now Blacksuguya definitely has a great showcase here. Without emotions and his kind personality, he wasn’t holding back anymore. He cut down Ikkaku and Yumichika with ease, even implementing ice into his hand to hand combat, a la ice on the knee. He even showed his overwhelming strength against Mayuri by just enasing him in ice several times, even using tactics like grabbing his sword to freeze it, rendering him defenseless. Sure it was in his mind but that’s something he could accomplish. To explain the drug, it’s obvious once you get it. Yes his fights vs Mayuri stopped happening once he said the phrase “It’s all for the seretei” After that, the drug look effect from Charolletes blood splash. The drug is supposed to create and simulate scenarios for Hitsuguya to accomplish defeating Mayuri. So in his brain he was fightinging Mayuri over and over until finally after the 10th scenario we are watching Hitsuguya succumb to the drugs effects and everything is happening real time. It’s def a variation on that super human drug he used on Syza Additionally we got some new scenes with Byakuya as his fight vs the sternritter wasn’t that extensive. Robberts scene was new and him using Bankai, giving Byakuya more to do during this second invasion. Navi also correctly pointed out that Byakuyas royal guard clothing protected him from Nananana Najakoops Morphine pattern attack, but it also protected him from Pepes love, showing how strongly defensive Senjumarus clothing is. Overall a fun episode before the crazy shit happens next week in the royal palace. Additionally there was a comment made in last weeks Sunday Rundown that was slightly incorrect. The chapter “God Like You” was in fact adapted in the anime, but because the crew is short on time, they adapted it as the intro for episode 14 with the sperm. It is an extremely important story/chapter to understand because it tells you a few things about who Yhwach is. The intro with the baby is a non-commentary adaptation of the Manga Chapter 565. When Yhwach was born, he was born completely black. He could not hear, speak, see nor could he move. He had no way to survive, but despite this, even as a baby, he was never scared because he knew he would survive. The people he was born to treated him like a prized possession because they realized that when they touched him, they would feel a power grow inside of them. Severed limbs would grow back, people who were afraid would gain courage etc. Ywhach power was the ability to share part of his soul with whomever he wanted. While they gained part of his soul to heal or fix a problem with themselves, that piece of his soul would gain the entirety of their knowledge, strength and talent that person acquired through their life. He would gain all of that knowledge and talent when these people died. His soul would return to him and eventually allow him to hear, see, and speak and gain strength to actually move around. However, the people who touched him did not live long, almost like a curse fell upon them. Despite this, and them knowing it, they continued to touch him and praise him. Yhwach was not born with this name, but the people chanted to and praised him because they believed him to be their god born on earth. So he adopted that name for himself. That is what that intro depicts in a beautiful way. His angelic birth to what appears to be a healthy mother. But for some reason he was just a blacked out child that could not move. But then you see the hands surrounding him, that are wrinkled and tired looking, reach up and bring him to divinity. And then the sinister red threads spread out and are connected to all those who touched him, his soul. Eventually you hear they harmonize and call out to their God, Yhwach, Yhwach, Yhwach. He is then seen growing up, and as a teenager he looks like Tensa Zangetsu, Zangetsu in bankai form that Ichigo fought before Aizen. This chapter explains how the Sternritter have their powers too. The A-Z lettering scheme is Yhwach etching his soul into them and giving them new powers that a normal Quicny wouldn't normally have ie. Bazz B the "H" Heat shooting flames. It is also why he is the father of the quincy. Because his soul is in all the humans that touched him. He created the quincy race through the sharing of his soul. This is why he was inside Ichigo as Zangetsu because he is apart of them all, no matter how small a percentage a quincy you may be.

#Sunday Rundown Right before Yumichika got cut down by Zombie Toshiro, he shouted “Ruri'iro Kuj-” meaning he was going to unleash his true Shikai like he did with Charlotte. Ruri'iro Kujaku is the true name of his Zanpakuto and Fuji Kujaku is the false name due to his Zanpakuto’s favorite color. Before he said he would never use it even if it meant death so his Squad members wouldn’t know he had a Kido type Zanpakuto, but in a desperate attempt to save Ikkaku he was going to use it in that moment.

#SundayRundown #BLEACH HUZZAH! Suraj and Rana remembered my comment about Shinji's reversal nature! 😁 However...you have ALL misremembered the info about "favorite characters". Captain Kurotsuchi is Kubo's favorite character...TO DRAW. He loves to design all of Kurotsuchi's looks so much that he changed them up more than any of the others. His favorite character OVERALL is Ichigo. This is typically the case with manga-ka. The main character is their favorite child. Also, if I had a nickel for every time Byakuya fought against a black man who uses the power of love to control people...yada yada, you know the rest. 😉

Mayuri is definitely one of my favorite bleach characters, I think that although he is not exactly a "good" person Kubo still writes him in a way that doesn't come off as unlikable, he's also Kubos favorite like others have said so him getting some banger fights helps a lot lol especially his next one. Honestly can't wait for that reaction.

Sunday Rundown! Mayuri is not just loved by Kubo, many authors such as Kishimoto and Akutami are massive fans of him too. Episodes like this are exactly why, Mayuri is able to do so many bs plot related things, he's a cheat code, but a well written one, you don't question any of the solutions he comes up with because he is that competent. It is a mangaka's dream to have such a character at their disposal, especially for a shonen, where escalation of power can be a huge issue, like Bambi's bombs or Giselle's zombies. Suraj even knew the latter was completely fucked when Mayuri showed up, which couldn't be a better example of what I've said. When Kubo finds himself in a hole, Mayuri hands him a rope.

#SundayRundown - Have to disagree with y’all with the Kurotsuchi dub being better, my goat Ryusei Nakao is the best va when it comes to portraying maniacal scientists in anime. He just has a way of sounding so sinister at times and playful at times with his characters that’s just like damn, this character thinks lives are his playthings. That’s why his Frieza is iconic as well. #SundayRundown #BLEACH I meant to write this for last week but since the character is still here I will will write it here. The character Giselle is in general a very controversial character all together. From the gender identity argument to the way the character is portrayed. In the scene where Giselle esencially reveals their true personality we understand that the goofy jokey side of theirs is false and the sadistic cruel side is the more true side of the chracter. It can be argued that the character started getting a lot of hate due to how it was more heavily implied in the manga that Giselle "R worded" Bambi's corpse after killing her. And the scene where Yumichika says "you stink of semen" was to imply Giselle climaxed on Bambi from killing her. And the way Bambi gets abused later did not sit right with a lot of people, especially those who may have expirienced something similar. I spoke to some people within the trans community where I am from who also watch Bleach and they love the series but really dislike Giselle but not all them, mainly due to the fact that the show gets a trans character and they are portrayed as one of the most vile and digusting chracters with scenes that made some people want to turn off the series. It did not also help that Bambi by herself was and is arguabley still the most popular female sternritter (a lot of posters for TYBW features Bambi even though she is not that relevant) despite her short appreance and to see her get treated that badly while not being a sweetheart did not help as well. It was also offputting for people to see that visual boob jokes and butt jokes from the manga got removed but they show and imply a very absive SA scenes which just made some people wonder "we can't see a boob or a butt but we can have SA violence". Also the comments about Kubo acknowledging the gender identity of Giselle is also another discussion that gets toxic. You can interpret his answer on his Q and A website as you will; basically someone asked if Giselle is female or male? Kubo simply answered "He's a man". Whether he has changed his opnion is hard to say. And in Japan they are not afraid to be very politcally incorrect about certain things so take it as you will. Otherwise looking forward to the next reaction.

I don't think it was implied (nor do I like the interpretation) that it was Byakuya's clothing that let him nullify Nananana's ability. That doesn't really make much sense to me. We have always known Byakuya to be a well-rounded fighter, and after his training in the royal palace, it makes sense that he wouldn't leave any openings in his spiritual pressure. Pepe's love may have been nullified by it, but I think Byakuya was just a bad match up for Nananana.

#sundayrundown So it is totally fair to have a problem with Mayuri's methods. He is a mad scientist monster who is definitely guilty of war crimes and human (or soul) rights violations. But on the other side of the coin, against an enemy like the Quincies, who are also willing to use whatever means necessary to win and destroy their enemies, and after how badly the Soul Reapers were defeated in the First Invasion, Mayuri's methods, although vile and detestable under normal circumstances, are one of the only things that are keeping them from being wiped out entirely. The Soul Reapers are fighting a battle for their survival. Mayuri's methods are undoubtedly messed up, but they are definitely one of the few things that are giving the Shinigami any chance of victory, with the odds stacked so heavily against them.

That little scene where cirucci is making a face when Mayuri says he added something to the arrancar blood was in the manga too (i think cirucci was planning to hit mayuri but he said it wouldn't work), it was a funny little nod to it

I think the fact that they showed it smacking his clothes and highlight that implies that his clothes were protecting him. Klub Outside 321 question told us this regarding pepe. I dont want to mention anything else cuz of future spoilers but we know the clothes protect him.

Nothing is quite as terrifying as a mad scientist with prep time. Mayuri is definitely my favorite captain after Kenny. But maybe I'm just biased because I love me some mad scientists.

When pepe hit byakuya w the love attacks it didnt work bc he has royal armor on. Squad 0 gave ichigo and them armor/robes crafted by their bones/blood. Thats the reason why morphine guy didnt work either. That armor bypasses hax and is meant to unlock the barriers between soul society and royal palace place. Theyre all walking oukens meanwhile aizen plotted 800 years just to make what they were blessed with 😭. He was pissed to find out

Sunday Rundown - So, Toshiro is FAR more efficient when he's a dead zombie devoid of his usual naive emotions. He's a better fighter when he's just a killing machine and doesn't have to think about it. Now remember what Yhwach said to Yamamato before he killed him - about how the original Gotei 13 were far stronger and far more terrifying because they were cold blooded killers who didn't harbour such "nice" emotions that the present day version does. Yhwach said them becoming nicer had made them weaker and that the Gotei 13 actually "died" ages ago because of this. Makes you wonder if Yhwach was actually correct there lol. Also completely unrelated but Mayuri's Japanese voice is the same as Frieza's, which i find funny (and also the voice of another mad scientist in One Piece too - he likes voicing psychopaths, it seems lol and shit, i would too with a voice like that lmao. )

[Tidbits] - The concept of Zombie Toshiro is very fascinating, Toshiro is not only the youngest captain but he's also the most pure-hearted and honorable. Here we get to see what what a more ruthless Toshiro looks like. He's concise, intentful, and creative, like how he uses the ice as an extension of his body to make a knee blade or even immediately seal his wounds the moment they occur. - We get slight character growth on Yumichika here, we know that he doesn't want to show anyone in squad 11 his real ability because he thinks they'll no longer accept him as a real squad 11 warrior, yet despite that he was ready to use his real shikai the moment Ikkaku was about to really die (This is very different compared to when Ikkaku was Fighting Edrad and Yumichika simply called for a funeral instead helping) - In the Manga version of these events Byakuya fights against the 3 Sternritter never happened, we only cut to them all being defeated. From what we understand we can expect tons of original and extended fights in the next 2 cours. - Robert [Quincy with a gun] Seems very on edge, he's yelling and sweating and with the way he's speaking it makes it seem as if you have to do enough to be acknowledged by Yhwach otherwise something bad may happen. - We learned in Kubo's fanclub Klub Outside that Byakuya wasn't affected by the love ability because he's wearing clothing from the Zero Squad which has special protective capabilities. - Pepe uses cupid symbolism yet the idea overall is supposed to be a perversion of love, one that is vile and nasty, which is why his Volstanding looks repulsive. [Sidenote, Pepe was the one controlling Jidanbo, (The Giant who Protects the Wall) to attack the research and development division when Ichigo was on the phone last season.

This is also subtle Yumichika character development too - here he was willing to discard his secret to save Ikkaku, but way back in the Arrancar saga, he was willing to let Ikkaku die against Edrad if it was to be, without helping him.
