Dean Cipher forces a public showdown between Marie Moreau and Jordan Li in a rigged match to manipulate campus power dynamics and public perception. Marie undergoes intense training with Cipher, learning to manipulate blood bags and levitate living creatures — even a goat. During training, Marie realizes Cipher’s blood shows no presence of Compound V, raising suspicion about his origins and powers. Marie and Cate, Jordan, Emma attempt to steal a confession from Cipher by planting a hidden camera in his quarters. Cate confronts Cipher, claiming she knows he’s human (i.e. no V), but Cipher senses betrayal and cancels the fight — or so it seems. When the match begins, Cipher reveals a terrifying power: he possesses Jordan’s mind, forcing Jordan to brutalize Marie as if Jordan is a puppet. Marie fights back, restoring Jordan’s body. The crowd chants “Marie!” as Jordan collapses. Cipher remains unscathed, his secret power now exposed. In Cipher’s home, Jordan and Cate discovered a hidden chamber with a severely burned man in a hyperbaric tank — possibly Cipher’s father or a clue to Godolkin’s origins.
