The Child Labor Episode | Battlestar Galactica 3x16 "Dirty Hands" | Normies Group Reaction!

Tensions rise within the fleet as class divisions and labor unrest threaten the fragile human civilization’s survival. Written by Jane Espenson and directed by Wayne Rose, this powerful episode explores themes of equality, leadership, and the price of survival. Chief Galen Tyrol (Aaron Douglas) becomes a voice for the working class after witnessing the dangerous conditions faced by refinery workers aboard the fleet. When a tragic accident exposes the widening gap between the privileged and the laborers, Tyrol pushes back against the chain of command — including President Laura Roslin (Mary McDonnell) and Admiral William Adama (Edward James Olmos) — demanding fair treatment and better working conditions.. As Tyrol’s rebellion intensifies, Roslin faces a moral dilemma: how to preserve order without betraying the democratic ideals she’s fought to uphold. #sunday rundown battlestar galactica this episode allowed me to Marx post for this episode Gaius Baltar was an impure messenger for workers right but the point stand that for each member of the fleet should not not be type cast for a job with no break or time off. this is a version of a karl marx quote "every person should be able to fish in the morning, work in the factory in the afternoon, and write a novel in the evening" that evey person should be able to have a fulfilled life. that people should not be force into a job or be force because their parent did the job before them. and here another quote “But one man is superior to another physically, or mentally, and supplies more labor in the same time, or can labor for a longer time; and labor, to serve as a measure, must be defined by its duration or intensity, otherwise it ceases to be a standard of measurement. This equal right is an unequal right for unequal labor.” so people shouldn't be trapped in a job because of where they were raised or their body's bulid that still inequality for people like the kid who only work on a farm for the summer is now labeled as knowing heavy equipment just because It said he worked there.

This was the only "day in the life" episode I really liked. It is so easy for a capsule society like this to turn into a Snowpiercer situation. Not to mention that in that stupid Lee black market ep, it showed there were ppl turning to prostitution to make $ for room & board. Wouldn't mandatory work rotations & job cross trainings help that stop? To a certain pt at least?

It's actually crazy that she joined NXIVM when they were filming season 2 and helped Keith Raniere found DOS in real life after the show had ended. If I remember correctly, she and Allison Mack were married for 3 years (for the green card) so she could stay in the States and keep helping with the cult. And to top that up, Raniere, the cult leader, had fled to Mexico after being exposed by the press and she was the one who accidentally revealed his location, sharing a photo on her Instagram that told his whereabouts to the FBI. In fact, she and Mack were in the house with Raniere when the Mexican police raided the place! Boy... talk about having a crazy life. 🤣

Hey did you see that Allison Mack is launching a podcast about her time with NXIVM?

Gaius Frakking Baltar

Full text of "My Triumphs, My Mistakes", by Gaius F. Baltar: Chapter 1 Tricia Helfer is hot af. I REGRET NOTHING. The End

Is it weird that I am definitely going to listen to that podcast?

You guys need to watch a movie from 2010 called: UNTHINKABLE. Stars Samual L Jackson, Carrie Anne Moss, Brandon Routh and a bunch of others. Before anyone says to suggest things in the recommendation section, this goes directly to their recap at the end. Especially what Ketty was talking about so I put it here. Better chance of my message being seen.

#SundayRundown #BattlestarGalactica Adama was not bluffing about Cally, imo, but wasn't anti-worker's rights/actions per-say, I think, only that immediate survival of the human race trumps temporary unpleasantness. And he absolutely could not allow mutiny of people under his command. Putting aside that refusing orders in wartime can result in a death sentence in any military in our own world with much lower stakes, Adama bending now would only encourage anyone with a problem in future to mutiny, leading to breakdown of discipline and potential disaster in life or death (or extinction) situations. I can't imagine any military leader in a situation anywhere near as dangerous as theirs responding differently. I'm pro-union/strikes personally, and Adama/Roslin are definitely in denial about working conditions, hand waving it away with circumstance from their cosy quarters, but that Tyrol and Galactica crewmembers didn't think mutiny would be violently shut-down instantly is nuts. The worker's strike was justified, but expanding it to military personnel was an awful idea. Navi said Roslin should promise to talk if they kept working. They already did that, and nothing changed, which is why the workers went hardline, justifiably. They discussed this at the start of the ep. Marketa said they should provide counterarguments to Baltar's manifesto, but that would probably legitimise and provide credibility to Baltar in the eyes of idiots, equating his voice with the government's, stengthening his position. It would also make them look defensive and vulnerable. Ignoring him and suppressing his book (which is normally bad obviously, but he's currently detained for high treason and crimes against humanity on a military vessel, publishing shit is probably illegal to say the least under terms of detainment or something, I imagine) might be the tactical play.

Shoutout to Katee Sackhoff on her recent appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast. She was great!

I don't think Adama or Roslin were against the workers, they were just preoccupied with the their particular burdens, and also blind to the hardship that the Tilium refinery workers were going through. Adama was out of pocket talking about executing Callie but I feel like he wouldn't have actually done it. Beyond the fact that he looks at Callie and Tyrol as damn near his own kids, logically killing skilled workers when you are in a crisis precipitated by a lack of skilled workers is stupid. Adama isn't stupid but he is prone to dramatic gestures to make points. I really like the way they framed it the whole episode, because everyone seems a bit off but it is all in service of showing the inequity and hammering home the point This is one of my favorite "filler" episodes, it carries a lot of weight storywise because it gives a face and to the civvies and other dwellers of the fleet who we see so little of. It also ties back into New Caprica, and the lives they had to abandon there. Even though i have seen it a million times at this point, I get a little misty eyed when Tyron pins on Seelix's rank insignia. Seelix has been a ride or die since season 1; she almost died on Kobol in Crashdown's tactical blunder.
