I understand you guy not liking this match, but this was a superb wrestling match that put both of these guys as iconic stars. This is wrestling for a lot of “non-normie”/casual fans showing these guys technical ability and toughness. Again, not for everyone but should be not be looked down upon

#SundayRundown These two are literally some of the very best in the world at their jobs that being to make it look like they're seriously injuring each other while taking the minimal amount of damage possible. The fact you guys got so upset by it speaks volumes to their ability to sell you guys on thay illusion they're actually hurting each other seriously. This is actually rather tame compared to most hardcore/no DQ/Deathmatch style matches. What happened at the end was essentially a simulation of what happens in MMA when someone gets choked out, he stopped moving/defending himself so the ref called the match.

Ilja & Walter did a rematch the following year at NXT TakeOver 36 & it was just as brutal as this match, except there actually was a crowd there because this was post-COVID-19. Gunther's real name is Walter. WWE made him change his name to Gunther when he got called up to the main roster in 2022. Ilja was born in Moscow, Russia but moved to Berlin, Germany when he was 5 years old. All those slaps, punches & kicks are real. That's basically the European & Japanese style of wrestling called Strong Style. No one was injured in that match, but they definitely had some major bumps & bruises.

#SundayRundown - Just so you girls know they were both perfectly fine after this match outside of the obvious marks on their body, yes it was brutal but it was a master class in the art of selling a stroytelling. The true Art of Pro Wrestling is drawing out and playing on your emotions so your reactions are 100% valid cuz that was the whole point of it all. You guys are suppose to feel the way you all felt, this match was physical and brutal, it told you an easy to understand story of a giant man vs a smaller man or a bully vs a man who refuses to be bullied. The fact that all of you reacted exactly the way it was intended for you to react without any of you knowing is why this match is considers a classic on top of the fact that they had to do this without a live crowd which is actually very important piece to the pro wrestlin. Now they have a rematch to this match at NXT Takeover 36 in front of a live crowd that i hope you girls give a shot as its a direct continuation to this feud but also i think you guys might like more that this.

chops are one of those moves in wrestling where it obviously hurts and it makes a physical change to certian skin colors where you can see the chest starting to peel and bleed but after the match your totally fine, these guys are masters in doing shit that looks awful but they both know they are in safe hands, its basically strong style wrestling where instead of throwing punches that never connect, you throw forearms and chops and knees that always connect, it results in more bloody noses, bloody mouths, red chest, so some fans like it more than the wwe north american wrestling style because it allows you to immerse yourself in the match if midway you dont obviously see someone miss a punch and the other person act like it did it, but some wrestlers simply cant do strong style because they have different philosphies on wrestling, they think your a bad wrestler if you actually have to give someone a bloody mouth to get crowd reaction

Just to clarify, after the match I explained that the outcome of this match was pre-determined as per usual, no one was injured, and that these two are just tough wrestlers that trust eachother and work well together. Also that this is more like "strong style" wrestling like Okada/Takeshita do. -Spencer

In the end they were actually fine with it, and they had a better idea of what good selling looks like. Its just that everything about this match was more brutal than what they were used to.

I won't lie, this does make me a bit nervous for their upcoming reaction to the Iyo Sky match at Marigold as well as any future reaction to either male strong style wrestling or female joshi style wrestling. It can be a bit uncomfortable to see those types, especially if you're used to seeing regular wrestling. But small steps, we have a plethora of wrestling to react so I'm sure they'll get used to it and appreciate all styles that this beautiful sport has to offer from both men's and women's sides.

#Sunday Rundown Ignore everyone calling this "strong style". This match actually told a story. It inspired extreme sympathy in the girls for the babyface (dragunov). And no one was injured for real. 3 things that are all core components of pro wrestling that "strong style" has no understanding of. Which is why strong style doesn't produce stars.

"Imagine how their mothers, wife, or children feel watching this" .... PLEASE, somehow show them the portion of BEYOND THE MAT of Mick Foley's Wife and Children sitting front row at the I Quit match with The Rock .. She knows the outcome, the children are assured, daddy is not really trying to intentionally hurt this man, but still, even knowing the inner works, the match is too much to take for them. They have to leave, mid match because it's too much .. THEN they show the aftermath of the match, with Mick getting stitched up by the doctor and doing the concussion protocol test .. It gives an amazing inside look into just how REAL this industry is.. That would be an amazing reaction.👏👏👏👏

This is the first time y’all have seen a match that was supposed to illicit this reaction out of you, but as crazy as it sounds, this is exactly how you should feel, uncomfortable, wrong, as if you just saw something that wasn’t part of the regularly scheduled entertainment, because that’s the vibe they were going for. I think you guys need to see the rematch, and perhaps, you might even get a more satisfying ending.

Tbf the lack of crowd noise and such makes it seem even more real. Anyway, time to show them the rematch ;) It's not as brutal tbf (still pretty gnarly though) but it's basically just as good.
