Tom

So, probably because of censorship or maybe time constraints, this narration was cut from the anime: "For about a year, the sex worker had been suffering from hardened growths on her arm. She wasn't even aware of her pregnancy for the first eight months and her unstable lifestyle wasn't the only reason for that. She simply couldn't feel what had taken up residence in her uterus and had begun sapping away her very life force. She gave birth to the twins on a riverbank before dying in the same place. And for some reason, the growths on her arm had completely vanished. The two babies right around when the rats showed up to gnaw on the newborns and their mother's corpse the flooding river swept the babies away. One year later news of the Glowing baby was the first of many worldwide reports of emerging meta abilities."

Bakugo’s super smart. Nitroglycerin is explosive and dangerous even on impact. So he sent bits of sweat at AFO so they’d pop and explode!! He just goes “lemme try something real quick…” and it KEEPS WORKING

I’m Pretty sure yoichi quirk was only the ability to give quirks which Is useless and AFO had both The ability to take and give. So he gave him a stockpile quirk which turned into OFA

AFO had the ability to take and give, yoichi was born with the power to give, he was given the stockpile quirk.

Chris - It's crazy you brought up the Bruce Lee quote. Blind Wave brought up the exact same quote / point in their discussion! It's 100% on the money. Great discussion, y'all!

#sundayrundown characters like bakugo and toga show us that quirks can affect your personality how do you think that affects all for ones situation was he going to subconsciously take all the nutrients from his mother regardless? was he destined to become the demon king? if japan was able to take better care of their sex workers would their mom have been able to have a proper birth.

Fobbles

Ok so. AFO was born with the quirk to take and give powers to and from others, but can’t give his quirk to take and give powers. His brother was super malnourished so his quirk never fully developed, but he had the power to ONLY give away his own quirk to someone else. But that’s still useless even if it was matured. AFO found a stockpiling quirk so his brother could get stronger and forced it on him. Maybe it was because he didn’t want it or maybe because his quirk never fully developed, but the malnourished one ate it! Forming a stockpiling quirk that you can pass on from person to person! Leaving you powerless. One for All could never have possibly existed unless the two brothers worked together to make it. AFO accidentally did that, and created his own downfall… but even still he was bested by a simple explosion quirk!!!

Fobbles

AFO could have been the kindest power ever, giving and taking pain and power, but he was so greedy that he never really gave unless it was for his benefit. -He could have saved Shigi’s family by taking his quirk until he was older. -He could have saved many animal looking humans by taking their powers and helping them escape oppressors. -He could have helped someone like twice, by taking his quirk and proving he’s real. -He could have just given Deku a quirk so he could be a hero like he always wanted. -He could take Muscular’s power away from that absolute psychopath He could have ended the segregation between quirk holder and quirkless people when he was growing up, JUST BY BEING VOCAL THAT HE CAN GIVE PEOPLE POWERS! Because they saw them as diseases back then, not genetics changes. But if all people have the ability to hold a quirk… they’re not different at all..

Came here to write this explanation, lol. It's already been explained in previous seasons, but I guess people forget after a while.

In a weird way, its refreshing to see a villain who is just pure evil. I feel like too many anime villains are either trying to do their own twisted sense of good or have tragic backstories that forced them off the right path. AFO is neither, and Horikoshi pulled that off without making him bland or overly cliche

Need dat marketa reaction

I’m leaning towards time constraints. Having to linger on those shots in order say the narration probably would’ve eaten up time. Otherwise they would’ve risked having to cut other things.

Bakugou could have kicked that baby and nobody would have said a thing 😂 Yeah, folks need to give it up about you guys watching the English dub. If that's what y'all want, then it's cool. The English VAs paid the bills for sure, though I'm still playing subs (REALLY LOUD) over y'all's reactions. I just can't! 😂 I think my only complaint would be is that the dub is behind so y'all aren't caught up with sub watchers; gonna have to wait for your reactions to the end of the series two weeks later 😭

Forgot to say this last week, but Bakugo straight up did Gojo’s “honored one” pose last episode. Bakugo alone is the honored one! It was a deft touch to center All For One’s craving for One For All in his toxic love for his brother. He can’t properly exist without his brother, his first possession. It gives All For One a sick and twisted sense of humanity. Even the best parts of him were warped and deformed. Believing that everyone catered to his story. Making Bakugo, a foil for All For One. He learned the folly of believing everyone is an extra in his story. Through appreciating how he wouldn’t be where he is without a good support system, he recognized the value of this being “our story.” Given the themes of nature vs. nurture all throughout the series, I wonder if All For One could have turned out differently if he didn’t grow up in a dog eat dog world that only reinforced his negative impulses. Like Yoichi said, “All For One was born with the ability to take and give. His quirk could have been the kindest power in the world.” Also F.Y.I. All For One’s real name is Zen Shigaraki. Zen means All. Yoichi Shigaraki’s given name comes from the Japanese word ichi meaning one as in Zen’s first possession and first wielder of One For All. All For One’s real name was revealed in a data book after the series, so no spoilers here.

Don’t know if you remember this, but Overhaul had a theory that quirks spread through rats. We see rats all over All For One and Yoichi’s mother’s corpse. Kind of low key confirming Overhaul’s theory. Also All For One allows him to give and take quirks from birth. Two in one. He gave Yoichi Power Stock, the ability to stockpile power over time. Yoichi’s quirk was Quirk Bestowal, the ability to pass on quirks. Due to Yoichi’s weakened quirk factor because of malnutrition his quirk was incomplete. Quirk Bestowal bonded with Power Stock to create One For All. I wonder if Yoichi would have had the same ability to give and take quirks had his quirk properly developed. They were twins and quirks are genetic.

Ren Davis

I actually wonder if Yoichi only had the power to give quirks because his quirk wasn’t fully developed. Since they are twins, I wonder if Yoichi would have had All For One as well or something similar.

Ren Davis

Chris: “Glowing is not even a power 🙂” Zach from Sky High: “Am I joke to you? I beg to disagree 😏”

Ren Davis

How dare Blind Wave peer into the future and rip off The Normies! Villains!

Meh

If I remember it right Yoichi always had the abilty to pass on quirks and AFO never noticed it. The quirk he gave Yoichi was stockpile and the two became OFA. Then they just happen to get stronger as they pass on (which is a natural phenomenon like the quirk singularity theory). Also I actually like that you guys watch Dubs. While I do watch in sub myself watching it in dub makes it a new way to enjoy it with you guys vs watching it twice especially on shows that are currently airing. Plus they are not BAD at all any more. I can only think of a handful of anime that I think are absolutely better in Japanese

Phil

Navi was making zero sense during the discussion.

Russell Edwards

Personally I think the show could've ended after this episode.
