Charlie’s Home Alone | It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia 13x8 | Group Reaction

Suraj, Spidey, Navi, Pat, and Rana present their review for It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia | Season 13, Episode 8 (Charlie’s Home Alone) Written by: Andy Jones & Adam Weinstock | Directed by: Kat Coiro - Spoiler Alert - In this hilarious and chaotic instalment, history and football collide at Paddy’s Pub. Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day) finds himself home alone at the bar on Super Bowl LII weekend after his “Green Man” suit disappears and the rest of the gang heads off without him. Believing his personal rituals (wearing green, eating brown, drinking yellow) will influence his beloved Philadelphia Eagles’ outcome, Charlie rigs the bar with bear-traps, sets up wild stunts, and journeys through a rat-eating, paint-splattered version of fandom madness. Meanwhile the rest of the gang Mac (Rob McElhenney), Dee (Kaitlin Olson), Frank (Danny DeVito) head to the Super Bowl party, leaving Charlie to fend off his own paranoia, basement furnace fears, and the turning point of “color rituals gone awry.” This episode blends fan-obsession, slapstick chaos, and the absurd lengths one of the gang will go to “secure” victory for his team. this is one of my top favorite episodes in the show

Haru Urara

This is probably my least favorite episode of the entire show. It might be one of the few episodes I skip upon re-watches.

Smapdi

Yeah, this and the next episode just feel completely off. They don't feel like Sunny, even the bad episodes.

On the podcast when the guys talk about their creative visions for the show it really makes these episodes make sense. Glenn Howerton likes to keep the show grounded and tied to reality. He enjoys the political satire stuff the most. Charlie likes keeping the show as it was. He likes the episodes to feel like “classic episodes” and tries to stick to the core premise of the show. Rob is the one who likes to push the show into new territory. He likes the different episode ideas and strives to keep everything fresh and new, venturing away from the familiar. You can definitely feel his and Charlie’s influence more in this season. Boggs reboot is redoing a classic episode and escape room feels more normal for the show. These end of season episodes are bigger and new ideas. And the bathroom crisis politics episode fell flat without Glenn’s voice in the writer’s room. He only partially comes back to the writer’s room in season 14 so there’s some improvement there. But, the he is fully back season 15 on and the balance and quality is restored imo

#SundayRundow I love how Charlie having the mind of a child (children can be evil) thinks he made his friends disappear and tries everything Kevin McAlister did.
