Not my favorite Superman movie but i still love it. The Clark and Lana scenes are great, Richard Pryor's 1/2 pennies scheme that Office Space would reuse is a fun side quest, Pryor substituting Tar for Kryptonite is funny, Kind of evil Superman is cool and lame at the same time, Superman vs Clark fight is epic, Of course the sister getting turned into a robot scared the ever loving shit out of me. Even though Webster is a poor version of Lex and Robert Vaughn just felt, too tv in his performance, i really like the chemistry between Pryor, Vaughn, the sister and the blonde. The scene where Pryor is recreating how Superman saved Columbia, the other 3 bad guys seemed to be having a great time playing off Pryor. 1 last thing........It was refreshing to me that part 3 showed the other side of metropolis where people are out of work and in line for their welfare or unemployment checks. I really liked Pryor begging for his check before eventually giving up and finding his true purpose.

Never watched this before lol

Just a question. Are you going to go back to the animated movies? Just curious.

#SundayRundown After years of hearing this movie was bad, I thought it was actually pretty good. Some *very confusing moments, goofy comedy, and half of it is a Richard Pryor movie, but overall not that bad. I especially like the fight between good and evil Superman *Superman uses his ice breath on some water to take to the fire, WHEN HE COULD’VE JUST USED IT ON THE FIRE! Im sure there’s some reason why he couldn’t, whatever *No one thinks to ask why exactly is a green rock the army’s gift to Superman, or what the rock even is. And they don’t tell us! Is it an emerald? Is it a special mineral (Jesus, Marie)? What makes it worth gifting?!

I had a recurring nightmare from this movie as a kid too. I combined it with the witch villain from 1984 super girl movie.

Yeah the woman being turned into a robot/cyborg near the end freaked me the fuck out as a kid too lmaooo. Anyway this movie is ok. It's got some good moments, some bad, some straight up goofy. I watched it a lot as a kid, so i have nostalgia for it. Funny and fun time overall. Can't wait for Superman 4, if you ever do it. Now THAT'S a bad movie, so bad it's good though, legit unintentionally hilarious and one of the funniest movies i've ever watched (I never really watched 4 as a kid, only the first 3, so i have less of a nostalgia goggle factor for it lol...actually I straight up didn't know it existed till way later in my life lol). Also the Kryptonite in this movie has similar effects to Red Kryptonite, which (among other things) alter Kryptonian's mood and releases their inner inhibitions etc. basically makes them asshole drunks. Why they didn't just....use Red Kryptonite in this movie for it rather than altered Green Kryptonite is anyone's guess lmao.

#SundayRanadown Fun fact: Since Superman Returns is connected to this, this is all connected to the greater CW Arrowverse Multiverse through the events of Crisis on Infinite Earths. Further proof is the DCEU flash meeting CW flash in crisis and Dceu flash has that CGI Reeves Cameo. That means all the live action superman are connected including Smallville and other Batman movies and even Kevin Conroy's Batman and netflix Lucifer. I guess it also means they are all also dead cus of the crisis destroying everyone and would kinda explain the DCEU to James Gun DCU Change.

I know the evil Superman fight because the internet shows that part so much but for some reason the only thing I remembered from this movie for the longest was the Italian souvenir guy when Evil Superman fixes the lean then him losing it when Superman fixes it back. The fact Marketa loved that moment so much warmed my heart

Shockzz1234

Evil Superman in this is so fucking funny coz he's not even really "evil", not to the extent he could be. He's like an "inconveniencing" goofy pranking drunk uncle Superman rather than evil. Except for putting the oil in the water, that was evil.

It got better with time

The 1980's had movies geared towards children but have things in them that are forever nightmare fuel. Return to Oz comes to mind...jaysus.....

bob

So, after standing there for twenty minutes (except for saving Jimmy), Superman finally blew his super cold breath on the lake, froze it and took the water to the fire. He later blew out the Olympic torch. He blew the oil back into the tanker after getting back to himself. WHY THE HELL DIDN'T HE JUST BLOW OUT THE FIRE? Just one of the many instances of bad writing in this, starting with that fustercluck of a slapstick opening. Folks got hurt, maimed, almost killed and generally inconvenienced because that woman in the heart dress had big titties. That scene could have been shortened or cut altogether. Richard Pryor couldn't save this- his humor felt out of place here. Skiing off a building?!? What the hell were they thinking? That sucked for 1983. And why did we need the sister? They could have cut her out and had her brother do all her lines and nobody would have noticed the difference. The only good plotline in this for me was Clark and Lana getting together. Lois treats him like crap in these movies- he finally upgraded :-) Another bad piece of writing- why was drunk-ass Brad in Metropolis? How did he know where Lana and her son were staying? For me, this one is right down there with Catwoman and WW 1984 for pure "nothing can save this" bad. It's fun to make fun of this one though- there's that as a positive :-).

I liked this movie as a kid. Mainly because I loved Richard Prior movies (especially his ones with Gene Wilder). But how did I not notice how weird it is that when Superman gets sick he closes the curtains and sits in the dark 😂
