I remember enjoying this film even if it’s basically a massive deviation from the source material. Matt Ryan’s Constantine felt much more straight off the page. Keanu Reeves’s Constantine does have a certain gritty urban fantasy appeal that I appreciate. Although this film started the trend of fucking up John’s name. It’s pronounced ConstanTINE rhymes with LINE. The comics stress this out multiple times……….yet no adaptation gives a single shit 😭 Even when they acknowledge the correct pronunciation they still make a point to go back to ConstanTEEN 😭😭 No biggie though. Just a pet peeve of mine 😂

So fun fact, Peter Stormare suggested Lucifer walk with tar on his feet to symbolize his corruption of the world. He literally leaves footprints of corruption wherever he walks. It's a small detail, but damn does it go hard with the character.

#SundayRundown How the heck did this end up on the bad movie list?!? It's not a "pure" adaptation of the source material but it's miles ahead of something like Steel or Batman & Robin. Saw this opening a day & have been waiting over two decades for a sequel that will probably never arrive.

Oh man I love The Prophecy. Christopher Walken is amazing in that. The first two sequels are a lot of fun as well.

That’s literally the only one and there was a lot of confusion over the pronunciation. Neil Gaiman (terrible human being by the way) was adamant about getting it right because one he’s English and two the comics stressed how his name was pronounced. He felt it appropriate to stick to what Alan Moore intended out of respect. Why can’t Constantine focused adaptations get it right 😭 I almost decided to edit the Sandman adaptation into my comment, but it’s not even a Constantine focused adaptation. It slipping my mind the first time is a testament to the mispronunciation agenda from mainline DC adaptations 😂

yea, funny thing I was reading some reviews from british critics about the show and they all complained that they kept pronouncing it "tine" not "teen" the incorrect way of saying it is so wide spread now even british people think its "teen

Just look at that. A name that was pronounced regularly a certain way for years in that part of the world now has been colonized by treacherous lies! That’s the power of the mispronunciation agenda. It’s even infected the Brits. We have to stand tall even if we’re the Fang Gang staring down a demon horde in a rain-soaked alley. ConstanTINE will live on!!!

With John not being a wominizer in this there is an entire subplot of him with his succubus girlfriend like he has in the comics that was cut, some scenes are on youtube.

I love this movie & I think the actor they got to be the devil was great . Keanu isn’t my ideal Constantine that’s Matt Ryan but this movie is overall good I like the lung cancer plot cause Constantine is a chain smoker & he knows when he dies he’s going to hell

I love that the moral soundness of sending someone to Hell for killing themselves is never discussed. I always have to mentally skip over that one.

Ooh!! Yes! I love Constantine! I admit it’s my first introduction to the character and kinda been obsessed since! Sincerity hope the sequel stuff isn’t just all talk. I believe I read that Keanu is game for doing the sequel!!
