Suraj, Navi, Chris and Pat present their review and reaction to season 4 episode 4 of The Sopranos, "The Weight." In episode 4, Johnny Sack (Vincent Curatola) calls for retribution when a joke about his wife by Ralphie (Joe Pantoliano) drives him crazy, forcing Tony (James Gandolfini) to step in and take aciton. Tony played that meeting with Carmine and John perfectly. He knew that in order to find out who snitched about the joke, John would have to sell out the person who told him, Paulie, which would make John look weak in the mob.

#SundayRundown David Chase was cooking with these episode titles. I think Johnny Sack might be the most devoted husband in a series with almost exclusively abusive and neglectful husbands. By the way, shout out to Furio for wearing The Rock's $500 shirt.

#SundayRundown Elliot really shows himself to be an elitist windbag with his wholly inaccurate description of his encounter with Tony. "I must've crowded him" You were 100% crowding him "He turned around and became quite confrontational" Tony just told him to take it easy then walked away. This is after describing him as a "Big Bluto sort of guy." Then Elliot dismisses him as a being most likely a repairman. That seems ridiculous because he's a very well dressed man getting into a nice SUV not somebody dragging drywall back to his golf cart.

#SundayRundown Man that whole scene with the The Atwell Avenue boys feels like something out of a horror film. It's such a strange encounter & feel of the episode definitely shifts during that scene. The great Richard Bright plays Frank (the one with the oxygen). He's best known for playing Al Neri in The Godfather Trilogy.

#SundayRundown The John-Ralphie story on paper doesn't necessarily feel like something that could drive an entire episode. It's fantastic though. The escalating back & forth with everyone else getting dragged into it with most of them responding as you would expect to the absurdity of the situation.

it was a funny/creepy scene but it wouldn't actually be the old men doing the hit. they had a younger person in the back also named chris as a deliberate mirror character to the chris we know (and remember chris is the first character in the show who killed someone). Also junior wasn't the one that had bobby's father do the hit, it was gigi one of the other captains. the av club review of this episode is worth reading for how deep the foil between the tony/johnny and the two marriages go, even beyond what's immediately apparent.

melfi's scenes weren't off theme (the experience of her rape is still weighing on her), but they do still feel shoehorned in because the show doesn't regularly follow her personal life like the others. her inclusion in the last episode felt less out of place because her husband always go on italian-american spiels anyways. that's like 90% of his lines. it's a slice of life show (and we got a slice of her life here) so how you feel about the intentionally jagged nature will probably depend on how much you like more chaotic structuring.

You misread the dress scene Tony did that to boost carmela confidence in her body he said it was in a small in actuality I believe it was a fitting dress that would've stretched to most women around that size

I'm going to clear up a few first Paulie wasn't just telling to get in good with New York he is jealous of Ralphie he makes more money for Tony so Tony treats him better and it's not that easy to switch families it's been said a few times New York and the Sopranos been working together for many years and they not messing it up for any one but Johnny Sack snitching on Paulie don't help him he will be back to not having inside information which was making New York more money and making Johnny Sack look better to his boss Carmine which yeah New York is a different family they just work with New Jersey and the 5 families in New York or bigger and more powerful than New Jersey so they don't want to go to war with the
