Loved how they handled the Yuji/Hakari conversation. Shooting it from the side as a one-take was the perfect way to build tension and add heat (Hakari: 🥹) to the interaction. You could just feel the scene burning up as it progressed. I have really enjoyed how MAPPA has handled the adaptation so far. Mahoraga would be proud 🥹

Just to clarify: Kirara (Hakari’s buddy) is ambiguous/ transfem. When Megumi and Panda discuss Kirara’s technique, Panda specifically says that Kirara was a man but Panda hasn’t seen them in a while. Additionally in the manga gender-neutral and feminine language is used to refer to the character.

So an interesting detail is Panda says to Megumi that both third years are male, and the two third years are Hakari and Kirara. This means Kirara was at one point "male" and that's how Panda knew her (Gege the author, also did a sketch of Kirara from when she was in Jujutsu High and she is very male presenting). Kirara is never explicitly said to be trans in the manga but I do think this was Gege's intention.

There's a painful truth about Jujutsu Society in that it's stupidly conservative. Gojo was strong enough to challenge those beliefs, but once he was gone, the higher ups clamped down on his allies so hard as to wipe them out. Yaga legit had a powerful technique but kept it on the down low so not to rock the boat. Imagine if he'd made a doll out of Geto or the Zen'in clan (post massacre), he legit could have made armies of super powered dolls, but he chose not to do so. The Jujutsu Society heads killed him simply because he *could* have posed a threat, and it sucks that their own fear of evolving is what's costing them in the long run. It's like looking at a group of people constantly shooting themselves in the leg repeatedly. P.S. I like the fanon idea that Hikari got pissed as the Jujutsu heads over Kirara and beat up one of the heads for her.

#SundayRundown #JujutsuKaisen. I said last episode that Maki was in my top 5, well here is another. Hakari is so damn cool! He gambles, drinks, got kicked out of school, runs a fight club, is extremely powerful and has that passion for living life to the fullest, not only is he the stereotypical bad boy but somehow progressive enough to get "cozy" 😉 with a trans woman or at the very least a feminine man, I can't wait for you guys to see more of him and his insane technique I'm almost 100% confident you'll love him too.

#SundayRundown Giving y'all the heads up just cause some people are gonna get weird about it, Kirara is a Trans woman. Panda referred to her as a "he" because Panda hadn't seen her in a few years and she transitioned after her and Hakari were kicked out of the school. The manga never directly commented on it or treats her differently but the context clues are all there. Also, the last scene w Yuji and Hakari is a rotoscoped scene. The directors acted out the scene and then the animators drew over the filmed scene. That is why it feels so fluid and looks like real life motion.
