I also think Ilya was trying, in his own way, to get Shane to open up during that “you like girls” conversation. It didn’t feel like denial — it felt like Ilya gently pushing, testing the waters, maybe hoping Shane would finally say something real. And for Shane, I think a lot was happening in that moment. They’d been hooking up for years, but they’d never crossed into something more intimate like staying over. That changes the tone completely. Plus, we see at the end of episode two, Shane in the elevator typing out texts to Ilya, deleting them, and finally just saying “f**k.” That moment alone shows he was already falling hard. Add in him starting to confront his own sexuality, and suddenly everything becomes very real. Not just physical, but emotional. It makes sense that he’d retreat when it stopped being something he could compartmentalize. The fact that they used each other’s first names (I think for the first time), and then Ilya reverting back to “Hollander,” says a lot too. It’s like vulnerability slipped out for a second and then immediately got covered back up. Ilya was also vulnerable in his own way — especially considering what’s going on in his personal life back home. Wanting Shane to stay over, making him food (even if he tried to downplay it), just sitting together and enjoying each other in a softer, more domestic way than we’ve seen before — that was different. That wasn’t just physical. And the final scene really drives it home. They clearly want each other. They want to be together. But there are so many external pressures — career, identity, family, reputation — that make something simple feel impossible. That tension is what makes it hurt so good.

The moment before Shane freaked out and left was so important! It was the first time Ilya opened up in any kind of way. He prepared Shane's favorite drink, made him food that was okey with his diet, let him stay... Him calling Shane by his last name again after the spicy sofa scene broke my heart. It's like he was saying "I'm sorry, we can go back to the way it was, don't leave". Ilya started talking about the girls because he wanted to see if Shane was into girls or not. In a way, he was opening up about his life. Not because he wanted to hurt Shane but because he thought it might help him to open up about these things as well. Thank you for the reaction! Please, drop the next two episodes tonight! I can't wait, I'm begging :(

I'm going to the Heated Rivalry party in Prague next month and then in April right before my birthday. I also need to make or buy some HR outfits! Cannot wait :) Rana's comments about Connor are so relatable, lmao. He got the looks, the sweetest personality and he is also an incredible actor. Fun fact: His parents are actually body builders. Would be cool to see your reactions to some of their interviews to see their bestie dynamic and real personalities in real life.

Shane kept looking for Ginger Ale the whole episode and only found it with Ilya btw who knew it was his favorite and bought it before inviting him

Sex and casual hookups are Ilya’s safe place, but they make Shane uncomfortable; family is Shane’s safe place, but it’s exactly what unsettles Ilya. And yet, Ilya really was trying to open up to Shane. He asked him to stay, cooked for him, even kept ginger ale specifically for him. You can see him watching Shane while they’re cuddling, pretending to be asleep when Shane wakes up. Shane didn’t leave because he wanted more and thought Ilya didn’t, he left because it was getting too real, and he panicked. He’s not as comfortable with his feelings as Ilya is. Ilya trying to undo it going back to "Hollander" was heartbreaking 😭

And Rose is not playing Jean Grey, wrong redhead 😂 Was the word Marketa was looking for Orthodox? The necklace is the symbol of the Russian-Orthodox church. There is no Ilya in the shower btw, that's Shane imagining him to get it up. The club scene is pure cinema with the perfect song choice.

this episode is so good and so frustrating because these boys suck at communicating lol. and omg cant wait for the next 2 (hope chris is back for those because theyre the best eps of the season, need the full couch!) and since you asked for more recommendations, i'd love to see you guys react to Heartstopper its an incredibly sweet and wholesome queer show with lots of different representation, and they also deal with darker topics too. its not explicit, the show is about teens and it grows up with them so sex is discussed but not shown. i adore this show and think it'd also make a fun reaction :) only 3 seasons\24 eps and a movie coming out this year to finish off the series! pleeeease! lol
