Straw Hat Luffy Becomes Known to the World!!" , as well as Episode 48 "Roguetown" AKA "The Town of the Beginning and the End! Landfall at Logue Town!!" ---------------------------------------------------------------- Episode 45 Summary Luffy is given a wanted poster and the highest bounty in East Blue. As news of Luffy's accomplishment reach Luffy's allies and former enemies, the crew sail towards Loguetown, the place of Gold Roger's birth and execution. & Episode 48 Summary The crew arrive in Loguetown to shop for goods, but Luffy is pursued by the Marine captain Smoker. Meanwhile, Zoro meets Smoker's assistant, Tashigi, who bears a striking resemblance to Kuina. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Acknowledgement One Piece is an original series written by Oda Eiichiro. #Sundayrundown - Fun fact: In the 4Kids dub, just like Zoro was renamed Zolo due to legal concerns and trademark issues, Captain Smoker was changed to “Chaser” to remove any connection to smoking, since kids’ TV rules didn’t allow characters linked to cigarettes. So They removed his cigars and made it look like all the smoke comes only from his powers so it wouldn’t reference smoking. It's crazy it took three top pirates and two corrupt marines for Luffy to become the famous "gunslinger of the East". Also, the 2nd One Piece movie premiered after this Loguetown arc. Compared to the first, it's more brutal and emotional, and hints at later big characters.

#SundayRundown - To answer Chris’s question, Zoro is NOT wearing a cummerbund, he’s wearing a Haramaki, a Japanese belly warmer that keeps your core, Kidneys and stomach warm to promote better blood circulation and health since that muhfucka is about his fitness. Also he uses it as a belt to hold his swords in place. ALSO, if you want an explanation for why you have to use Reverse Mountain to cross into the other 4 seas as well as the Grand Line, you have to watch the filler episode 55 at this time stamp of that episode: 02:43-05:22. Lord knows why the anime chose to have an important piece of worldbuilding occur in a tiny snippet of a filler but hey whatever.

I’m sad we’re not getting Little Buggy’s Adventure. The anime hardly ever adapts cover stories in general and there’s only 2 that are adapted until you get to Episode 418. Cover stories also shouldn’t be called filler since they depict events that happen outside the Straw Hats which are canon material.

Zoro's green "cummerbund" is called a haramaki. They were originally made to go under armor, but in modern times, became a fashion statement. And a way to keep your midriff warm. Smoker's weapon is an exaggerated version of a jitte. It was the standard weapon of Japanese police in the Edo period, evolved from the need for palace guards to carry weaponry, despite shogun not allowing anyone to have swords inside the palace. Speaking of Smoker, you were wondering how they censored him in the 4Kids dub. Well, very simply. They just took out the cigars. So now he just...emits smoke. Also, even though he clearly emits smoke, they STILL didn't want to call him smoker. So he's now Captin Chaser! ...'Cause he chases. ...pirates. Also no "JUSTICE" on his back anymore, 'cause Japanese is harmful to innocent children: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbavHkbiJms --- I'm disappointed y'all aren't watching "Little Buggy's Big Adventure". 😞 If Kety and Navi think the others would be upset watching filler, they're not giving them enough credit. The random silliness that has minimal plot relevance has been some of the best reaction fodder so far! Not to mention the series of episodes you skipped is not only part of the manga, but shows how Buggy got his parts back and met up with Alvida. Skipping entire filler arcs goes without saying, but if it's individual or small groups of filler episodes, that are based on the manga, so technically not even filler, I recommend watching them. It's not like skipping them will get you through the series any faster, and they'll be great fun to watch. 👍🏽

#SundayRundown to what Surj mentioned Roger was the one who named his treasure the One Piece before he was executed but in the manga he just starts talking and nobody asked him about his treasure. So to make it flow better in the anime they had that guy ask about him about to One Piece, rather than have him just start talking about it

Gathering the crew was important, but this is one of my favorite parts of One Piece. Crew just chilling on the ship, teasing each other and goofing off. They feel like a real group of friends. And of course, the more grand moments like Roger’s execution and Luffy standing in front of it are just iconic early scenes. The journey has only just begun!

fine with the skip. and they mentioned on the stream that they will also skip 50 and 51. Suck it, Daddy the Father!! Episode 48 is just iconic. That Roger moment 🔥

Skipping the Buggy episodes means that they're also gonna skip the Koby and Helmeppo episodes.... which is gonna lessen the impact of you-know-what later. Marketa and Navi should know better, the Buggy stuff was a cover story in the manga, therefore.... it is Canon. Also... even tho it is mostly filler.... they should react to episode 55 (or at least the beginning of it). because that's the episode where they explain why you can only access the Grand Line through Reverse Mountain.

Meh I'm ok with them skipping Buggy's Adventure tbh. I mean, it's a pretty funny set of episodes, but it's inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. I do however think they should react to the Koby/Helmeppo episodes. Those ones actually have consequence lol. I also think that you should NOT call them filler. Because if you tell the others that it's filler, they will think all cover stories are filler, which is false.

Tbf I don't actually mind his Chaser name because A. Smoker is also a pretty silly name (it's because he has smoke powers and he smokes a lot!) and B. His nickname is the White Chase/Hunter, so they probably took it from there. Also iirc they made his nickname in the 4Kids version the Smoke Hunter or something, to reflect that.

Suraj was mistaken, the big speech that was voiceover (not spoken) was still attributed to Roger, it was his voice. It's a main theme of the whole story. "Inherited will, the tide of the times, and the dreams of the people. These are things that cannot be stopped. As long as people seek the answer to freedom, these things will never cease to be".

The 4kids dub did get to the Smoker part and past it. They just showed him emitting smoke without the cigars.

Because Alvida is a nothing character who barely shows up after this and you don't realllllly need to know how Buggy ended up in Loguetown. It's not a big deal to skip it imo. They're also doing two eps a week, I'm ok with them not wasting a whole week on it. If they were doing more eps a week, maybe, but oh well.

The death of Roger was arguably the most important event to ever happen. Luffy wasn't even born yet when Roger was killed, and wanted to stand in the shadow of greatness. The King of the Pirates, who saw it all and obtained all the treasures the world had to offer.

I wonder who told them that the 4Kids dub ended before this part. It made it all the way to a few episodes after where I'm assuming the Live Action's 2nd season is gonna end. IIRC, the 4Kids dub changed Smoker's name to "Chaser" and got rid of the cigars so he's just got smoke coming off of him for no reason.

Is not when 45 episodes is 1 year, and normally you had 2 movies per year, for famous anime. Basically the Summer and Winter movie seasons. Is only know that you normally only get 1 movie per year, for the most famous regular series(Detective Conan, Doraemon, Shin-chan, ...) and 1 in every 2 moons for other famous movies.
