Marketa, Chris, Suraj, Spidey and Rana present their review and reaction to One Piece: East Blue Episode 49, "Switched Blades!" AKA "Kitetsu III and Yubashiri! Zoro’s New Swords and the Woman Sergeant Major!" , as well as Episode 52 "Sanji Sizzles" / "Buggy's Back" AKA "Buggy's Revenge! The Man Who Smiles On the Execution Platform!" ---------------------------------------------------------------- Episode 49 Summary Smoker confronts Luffy at the historic execution platform, who escapes his pursuit. With Tashigi's help, Zoro receives the Sandai Kitetsu and Yubashiri to replace the two swords destroyed by Mihawk. & Episode 52 Summary Zoro and Sanji show up too late to stop Buggy but a bolt of lightning shows up just in time to stop the execution and help Luffy avoid being killed. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Acknowledgement One Piece is an original series written by Oda Eiichiro. Here we go again. How is it filler if oda personally said they happen. He was just rush so he couldn’t draw it but had the animation add it. Why do you think the goggles are canon if he gets them in a supposed filler episode.

Episode 50 and 51 are canon. Oda wanted chapter 100 to be them reaching the grand line so he didn’t have time to fit these chapters in so the anime added them.

SundayRundown: I'm sure many other people will mention it but I want to say just in case. Episodes 50-51 are episodes that adapt stories that Oda wanted to include but had to skip because he wanted Chapter 100 to end on the crew leaving the East Blue. The main thing I want to mention is that Ep 50 is pretty popular. So popular in fact that One Pace, the fan made abridged version, even included 90% of that episode in One Pace. To put into perspective, One Pace will cut even the most simple scenes or shots because it doesn't align with the manga. The last thing I want to say is that either the first 7 minutes of ep 55 better be watched or Navi and Marketa could read from the manga(the scene is probably like 5-6 pages at most) and ep 68-69 also be watched. There is more questionable filler after but we can discuss that when we get there.

I might be in the minority, but I like the way they handled Buggy's Adventure episodes. And episodes 50 and 51 as well. The Anime is 1100+ episodes and still going. Let them get to the heart of the story as fast as they can. Navi and Marketta are reacting to these episodes on their own during the read a longs. So we're still getting a reaction. Just not the whole group.

Sunday Rundown: The actress who played Alvida (Ilia Isorelýs Paulino) in OPLA is going to still play her and went through the journey to lose the weight herself to play the role so props to her and feel free to look it up. Like Navi said, the fat slipped off after she ate her Devil Fruit but what’s funny is that Alvida genuinely thought she was conventionally attractive and that the only change she had was losing her freckles. According to Oda, she never owned a mirror on her ship.

Just like with "Yu Yu Hakusho", the "One Piece" dub has fully English OPs and Eds until, like, episode 207. Check 'em out! 👍🏽 Also, that giant Elephant Bluefin Tuna is what Sanji won in a cooking competition, and Usopp's new goggles were earned from his legendary duel with Daddy the Father. Both canon, BTW.

#SundayRundown - Breakdown for Blade Ranking System: Saijō Ōwazamono= Supreme Grade Blades; 12 exist Ōwazamono = Great Grade Blades; 21 exist Ryōwazamono = Skillful Grade Blades; 50 exist Wazamono = Basic Grade Blades; Countless swords exist in this tier These Meito(Famous) Blades have become so infamous in the world’s history due to their quality and the feats performed by previous masters that they are recorded and ranked among these tiers. Unfortunately while the Famous Ranking System for Swords introduced in ep. 49 is awesome, it is seldomly utilized in the show and manga. For example, where the story of One Piece is currently, we know the names of only 5 of the 12 Supreme Grade Blades, and most of them Oda revealed were Supreme Grade in the SBS Question corner, not even when the blades are introduced first in the manga. Idk I guess when you’re writing a story this vast, stuff like this happens but it sucks to see a cool concept introduced in a story and it NOT be used more.

Idk who told chris that episode 50 is where you get hooked, most people say arlong park, if you dont like it after the walk to arlong park scene youll probably never like it, some people say different episodes when they are asked "when did you realize this was the best anime youve ever seen", for some it happens sooner and some later, like for rttv it was later , for some other reactors it was in about 40 episodes, for others it was in about 200 episodes

Dang I like ussop sniping battle with Daddy the Father lol even though it’s filler it’s allows us to meet someone who knew ussops father. Also showed us why he’s on the team with his sniping ability and how he got his sniping goggles that he wears for a majority of the next couple arcs. Those sniping goggles actually contribute to an emotional moment later on in the show. I hope they don’t skip the filler arc after skypiea cause that entire arc though not canon was absolutely amazing content for one piece.

#Sunday Rundown: To help clarify Zoro's swords using the popular English translations, because none of the details will stick if you confuse the Japanese Legendary rank titles with the sword's personal name. Also the anime completely made a mistake with the number of one of them. "Kitetsu the Third" (red scabbard) is cursed but a Basic Grade of which very many exist. Basically C-tier compared to other Legends. "Yubashiri" (black scabbard) is a Skillful Grade of which 50 exist. Decent B-tier. "Wado Ichimonji" (white scabbard) which was Kuina's heirloom is a Great Grade of which 21 exist. They are A-tier blades. (Also said to include Kitetsu the Second) None of Zoro's blades are Supreme Grade, as I call S-tier, of which only 12 exist. (Also said to include Kitetsu the First)

I love that the anime gives us extra bits of fun character interactions. And, seeing the previous villains and the two good Marines, plus PANDA MAN, really makes me want to play One Piece: Grand Battle!

To me, the fact that there are 1100+ episodes is a perfect reason to NOT skip. A few side-stories here and there are not going to get us to hype moments nine-hundred episodes later in any speedy amount of time, and they have great reactions to all the crazy nonsense.

It's true that filler is hit or miss but One Piece filler better than most especially the G8 arc! Rushing doesn't help so they'll get there WHEN they get there and not before. Take the time and enjoy the ride!

To be fair, there are more than enough episodes that they can skip one or two fluff episodes like 50 and 51 and not miss anything important to the story. Manga canon and getting the summary afterwards is the way to go.

A couple fun facts: Future Pirate King, Buggy D Clown is Oda's favorite character. Many fans (me included) believe that he's going to be the next Pirate King (even if for a few minutes) as one last Buggy gag for the series. There are damn near countless Devil Fruits out in the world. That by itself isn't insane, what's insane is there are NO duplicates.

I found it crazy that Cabaji managed to capture Luffy. I misremember since it's been so long, I thought Buggy got the drop on Luffy. Even though Luffy was worth 30 million berries at the time, a henchman from Buggy's crew was still a threat to Luffy.

@Lace King respectfully you don't speak for everyone, I'm all for skipping the entire filler arcs (of which there are only a handful) but the one off episode here or there of anime cannon are not only a fun watch, but skipping them COMPLETELY RUINS the flows of the episodes. Not to mention pretty much all Loguetown filler is borderline cannon, as Oda has stated he WANTED to include those storylines in the manga but cut them JUST so that they could enter the Grandline on chapter 100.
