The Last Human Option... | Battlestar Galactica 4x16 "Deadlock" | The Normies Group Reaction!

Ellen Tigh and Boomer arrive at the fleet and Boomer is immediately taken to the brig. Ellen and Saul reunite and, after making love, go together to visit Sam Anders, who is still comatose. Tory Foster, Galen Tyrol, a Six and an Eight are also by Anders' bedside. The Cylons propose that since Ellen has returned, they should leave the human fleet, especially since Caprica Six is pregnant with Saul's fully Cylon child and they no longer need humans in order to reproduce. Ellen did not know about Caprica Six being pregnant, and is angry at Saul as she was never able to conceive children, and Caprica could only have become pregnant if he truly loved her. Would it be considered irrational to believe that Ellen was responsible for the child's death? It appears she wished to eliminate Six, and thus caused her considerable distress. Her objectives seemed quite evident throughout. Additionally, would it be unusual to suggest that this might be a form of retribution for Caprica Six's actions towards that unfortunate woman's child in the pilot episode?

Every time I see Tory I try to imagine if Billy hadn't died and was given Tory's storyline - he would have been a truly goofy member of the final five.

I'd like to think he'd really find himself as a member of Baltars harem

Callback to when Ellen visited Laura in jail when Laura was in the middle of withdrawals "oh my gods it's Ellen Tigh."

Regarding Ellen's behavior in this episode, it's important to remember the show has established that Cylons believe the only way they can successfully procreate is through love. If love is absent, they can't have children (so they believe). The cause of Caprica Six's tragic miscarriage can be interpreted by the viewer as losing Saul's love, or *thinking* she's lost it. That's why Ellen keeps trying to reassure Caprica Six in the hospital that Saul truly loves her... Ellen is now desperately attempting to make amends for her behavior and prevent the pregnancy from failing. Of course, the miscarriage can also be attributed to Caprica Six being assaulted in Dogsville, the stress of Ellen's return, or just terrible luck. It's up to the viewer. This is also why Ellen's reaction to Caprica's pregnancy was so over the top initially, because she saw it as "proof" that Saul never loved her, because Ellen and Saul could never successfully conceive a child on Earth.

you guys are definitely making the right choice by doubling up on Battlestar episodes each week now because since the Gaeta mutiny through the series finale, it's practically nonstop, so be ready, y'all. and if I recall right, the finale is split into 3 parts, not just two episode-wise, and I am BEGGING you to power through the whole thing and post all three in the same week once you get through lol

Also... she saved Saul from the brig back in New Caprica by having sex with her "child" that on top of that looks like her father. And she got killed by Saul because of that. It's even implied in that scene that she knew she was being poisoned and accepted her fate. She died for him. Of course Saul cannot be blamed but he should've told her everything the second they were alone. Not just "I fraked a six thinking about you". Considering her beliefs, Ellen's behaviour is actually very human. You can't expect to tell someone that you fraked her daughter and take it like it was nothing. Also, if Caprica Six had told her that she had been assaulted and that she had already felt some pain, I'm pretty sure Ellen's behaviour would've been different. And in the end, she really tried to help. P.S. How fraked up it is that Saul got Six pregnant while thinking about Ellen during sex. And Ellen dismisses that mustn't be true and assumes that Saul never loved her. This show is layers on top of layers.

Meh

Love the almost immediate "This is why we hated Ellen" XD. Looking at it now I'm wondering if the writers had the plan and concepts for all of the final 5 back when Billy was around. I would figure they could basically just swap 1 for 1 what their roles are but you then have the major differences of her sleeping with Baltar, being an item in the past with Tyrol, and probably killing Kaley. Would love to know how things would play out with him instead.

The Plan is Essential. It answers remaining mysteries from the first few seasons. If you can’t find it standalone it’s included in season 4 on apple.

It would have been sooooo much more painful to watch poor sweet Billy become a cold murderer and I wish we had gotten that
