Personally ive always liked this Arc more than Dark Tournament. While DT is more classic Shonen and arguably one of the best anime Tournaments, Chapter Black is more experimental and I like what it has to say more. You can see its influnce in later anime easily.

This was a nice episode to highlight the stakes of the saga and hint at the villain team. And, when it comes to Hiei, I don't think he would be satisfied with any ranking of his current level, lol.

Put a smile on my face hearing Rana say she really enjoyed the last 3 episodes. Seems you're probably gonna like Chapter Black more than the Dark Tournament arc. Chapter Black + the arc after that I'd argue is where Togashi really goes into his bag. Not going to hype up too much, because we all know how that ends. But you guys have some great material ahead.

When Koenma talks about the A-Class and S-Class demons, he also mentions the Super A-Class demons but that was a mistake in the dub. What he actually says is that there are "...A-Class demons & S-Class demons, the ones that are above the A-Class." Just to summarize it for the Normies: Demon Classes: 😈 E, D, C, B, A and S. Each Class has 3 levels: Lower, Middle and Upper.

Rana asking why Hiei left like that... and I always remember the fact that he wasn't even supposed to be a character. Togashi didn't expect him to be part of the story. He was just supposed to be some random villain in the first act who would be defeated by Yusuke, as he was. Only Kurama was supposed to join the team, but the audience liked Hiei SO MUCH that he felt compelled to bring the character back, but without knowing exactly what to do with him. Kind of unintentionally and unplanned, he created one of, if not THE greatest "anti-hero" "i dont like any of you... but i will help" in anime.
