When this show was on Barry Allen was dead in the comics over 10 years following the events of Crisis of Infinite Earths. Also Wallace West( the new 52 Kid Flash who is a black character), which is the character I think Rana is referring to was not created yet. Wally West is the original Kid Flash, who was created in the 1959, he took over as the Flash and was the only active Flash for around 20 years before Barry was brought back in to the comics.

#SundayRundown "Stryker's Island" is the prison that Metropolis criminals go to. Which I'm now realizing rhymes with NYC's Riker's island prison. Weather Wizard is voiced by the late Miguel Ferrer, who voiced Vandal Savage in seasons 1 and 2 Young Justice. Ferrer was in Robocop, the villain in Mulan, Crossing Jordan, Twin Peaks, NCIS: LA. He did lots of cartoon work. Cousin to George Clooney, big DC comics nerd and all around nice guy. He passed away in 2017.

Wally was always Flash to me, since I grew up in the pocket of time between Barry Allen's death in the 80s and his rebirth in 2009. Everyone older than me sees Barry as the Flash and everyone younger than me sees Barry as the Flash, but I was in the Wally pocket. It was a good pocket. WW! Walt Whitman! Woodrow Wilson... Wally West. Btw, same thing for Green Lantern. John Stewart for life. Daily Show Green Lantern > Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern.

Most of Superman's villains go to Strikers Island it's an Island prison off the coast of metropolis

Fun fact, the city of Metropolis was originally base on the two real world cities. Those were Cleveland, Ohio and Toronto, Ontario.

The Flash is generally depicted as faster than Superman for at least the last three decades. Probably a little more. There was once after Barry Allen came back where Superman was trying to help Barry adjust with resurrection. Barry wanted to be left alone so he turned up the speed. Clark tells him that he was always able to keep up with Flash in their races to which Barry says “those were for charity, Clark” then rockets away from Clark. Wally is generally depicted as the fastest, but this usually changes depending on who DC wants to glaze at that moment. Generally it’s Wally as the Speed Force was created when he was The Flash in the 90s. Barry died in the 80s during Crisis on Infinite Earths. Wally is bae 😏

#SundayRundown Weather Wizard is one of my least favorite Flash villains. His character design stinks. There's so many characters with Doctor in their name that look cool but he has wizard in his name & looks like a doctor carrying a dumbbell.

#sundayrundown Another fun episode. The voice of the race announcer is Carl Lumbly who later would become the voice of J’onn J’onzz/The Martian Man Hunter in JL/JLU. You guys know him as Isaiah Bradley in the MCU (or as Miles Hawkins/M.A.N.T.I.S. The first black superhero hero on 90’s television if you’re old like me). STAS/DCAU Bizarro is a failed Superman clone (think 2025 movie but he slowly physically and mentally degrades) created by Lex, he was introduced in a season 1 episode and ultimately redeemed himself saving Lois from an explosion (he did return later). Superman villains go to Stryker’s Island, both Parasite and Livewire and up there after their first tussles with Superman. The JL/JLU Flash is adult Wally West, the one in this episode people speculated if it was Barry but he never mentions his name and his suit is slightly different as well as his voice.

M.A.N.T.I.S. had a pretty good pilot directed by Sam Raimi & then they scrapped most of that creative direction when it went to series.

The Wally pocket is quite literally the best pocket. That’s basically where the foundation of the Flash mythos that is constantly used today started 😂 And technically Daily Show Stewart is Jon while Green Lantern Stewart is John 😜

Badsos123

To me Flash is faster on foot but superman can fly faster than running on ground. Basically foot race Flash, flying SUPES!!

Les

I’m so used to Flash’s voice in the main Justice League cartoon, that hearing a different voice in this first appearance was jarring.

#sundayrundown I love this episode! This version of Flash (Wally West) can be aggravating because he always acts cocky and runs ahead without thinking, but he really does care about being a hero for the right reasons. It was fun seeing these two meet before their Justice League days and seeing him win Superman's respect at the end was great.

When Rana said Weather Wizard had a dildo I HOLLERED!

#SundayRundown when this show was coming out, and as the DCAU was starting.. Barry Allen in the comics was dead so Wally West was the main Flash for a very long time. It’s the same situation with Tim Drake, he was the main & most popular Robin for close to 15+ years since Jason Todd was still dead and Dick became Nightwing. You guys will see another example with this in one of the season 3 episodes of this show.

Maurice Gray Jr

It was a good pocket indeed. I grew up on Barry as Flash in the comics and Wally as Kid Flash and then the transition from Barry to Wally after Barry's heroic death in Crisis On Infinite Earths. He had HUGE shoes to fill and he did a good job. Over the years, Wally had a nice arc from sidekick and brash Teen Titan to temporarily giving up the hero life due to a health scare to taking on the mantle of the Flash.

Yeah apparently. I vaguely remember the show but having a black superhero on tv was very special to me, even back then there was a noticeable dip in the quality of the show. Also it had one of the dumbest/worst endings ever where they got hunted by an invisible dinosaur, everyone died in an explosion taking out the dinosaur. It was fucking terrible.

@eric.na.goo.yen

One of my absolute favorite STAS episodes 💚

Yup, I'm with you. John Stewart and Wally West for life. Shayera as Hawkgirl too. Alllllllll (mostly) because of the DCAU lol.

Solebat

For some reason, I remember this show addressing that.

Xonok

That was definitely Wally West; you can tell by how he acts cocky and hits on Lois. Barry Allen is reserved and was always in love with Iris. In this version of the DCEU, I don't think Barry Allen was ever mentioned.

Daniel Gonzalez

So I get you guys won't watch the rest of the show but could we at least get a volunteer to watch the entire thing maybe even on their own and just give thoughts one of the biggest reason I was so disappointed when you guys dropped BTAS was because I knew it meant wed never get Superman BB and JL\JLU reactions and as much as KC is Batman and MH is the Joker its not my favorite series of the DCAU im at the very least grateful were doing a sorta greatest hits before JL

Daniel Gonzalez

So for me one of the main reasons I love Superman TAS so much is all the groundwork they did in setting up the justice league we get actual team ups here which as great as BTAS was it was really a Batfamily thing and we rarely saw outside heroes
