Kyle is literally the strongest lantern, its crazy the journey he goes on. You should look it up.

Denickart

Kyle Rayner was Hal Jordan's replacement, the main Green Lantern during the 90s/ 2000s, and a big Gurren Lagann fan. Also I'm pretty sure the guy that tried to steal Jimmy's camera was supposed to be Guy Gardner.

Kay Bee Baby

Yup, the hair cut gives it away.

#SundayRundown Great reaction!! Kyle was very big in the nineties while Hal Jordan was....going through some stuff. It was great seeing most of the couch that were more familiar with the Green Lantern lore (via Young Justice and the movie) getting excited about it! Especially when Chris realized it from the episode title. Sinestro is an amazing character but he's even better when paired up with Hal Jordan because they have a personal history.

Some Simp

1. You never heard of Kyle because Kyle Rayner is unfortunately Rarely Adapted 2. Kyle's origin in this series is more Hal Jordan, but they couldnt use him for the seires 3. Green Lantern rings are way stronger than you Think, but most adaption and even comics...always make them a joke 4. There are multiple Color Lanterns other than Green and Yellow 5. there are multiple animal Lanterns out there 6.Please watch Green lantern the animated series, its so good and will you answer most of your questions about Green Lantern lore 7. Other than the GLTAS, the only other way to experience actual good GL content are the comics, especially the geoff john run 8. I dont have hope for the new Lantern show, i think it looks bad and its jut gonna damage the Franchise, witch sucks cause this franchise has been put down many many many many times (the DCAMU you watched is a big example of fucking over GL) because of the ryan Reynolds movie

#SundayRundown - The Moniker of Green Lantern is the most passed down mantle in Comics History, with their being 8 heroes to be called Green Lantern, also the most diverse as most of them have Multicultural backgrounds. Every comic book generation there has been a different Green Lantern at the forefront and with The Modern Age of Comics, Kyle Rayner was created in 1994 and took that place. It was also during the mid 2000s when Kyle was the main Green Lantern that the concept of the Emotional Electromagnetic Spectrum was introduced, along with the concept of the 9 different Lantern Corps that all source their emotional power rings from the Spectrum. Kyle’s innate creativity allowed him to figure out and train with 7 different rings to become a White Lantern and the White Lantern Corps greatest champion, making him the strongest Lantern of all time. Because he is half Mexican-American he is also one of the strongest Latino Superheros in history. Unfortunately because the concept of the Spectrum and the Other Lanterns Corps was not introduced until 2005, the Justice League shows were made before then and will only feature the Green Lantern Corps.

LoneCourier21

Kyle Rayner has an incredible arc in the comics to become a super powerful Lantern. Being an artist constantly drawing a huge variety of stuff and scenes means he doesn't have to imagine and craft every idea. A lot of solutions he can just remember instead of being forced to create mid battle. Also he makes the wildest and coolest constructs out of all the Lanterns.

#sundayrundown Kyle was chose because in the comics post Death of/and return of Superman Hal went insane because the villains (no spoilers) blew up his hometown Coast City, he essentially did what Sinestro does in this episode, hunt down other Lanterns steal their rings/power he then went to Oa and absorbed the main battery and became the villain Parallax. In the early 2000’s Geoff Johns brought him back and with some retcons made “GL” into one of DC biggest/best selling series culminating in the war of lights/Blackest Night. He came up with the other corps Yellow/fear, Blue/Hope, Pink/love (more like obsession), Orange/avarice/greed, Indigo/Compassion and Black/Death. Before the Lanters the Guardians used robots called the Man Hunters which will show up in Justice League. By now there’s I want to say five earth Lanterns: Hal, John, Kyle, Guy, Jessica and Simon (there might be one more…). Kyle’s appearance, power use and suit are more based on Hal Jordan. If you haven’t heard of Kyle before, you probably still indirectly had some exposure to him as he became linked to the “women in refrigerator’s” trope when the writers had the villain Major Force kill his girlfriend and hide her in his fridge so he would find her once he gets home. Once you’re through the DCAU you should watch the Green Lantern animated show it’s an exceptionally good adaptation of the lore the two part premier is better then the live-action and that had Geoff Johns involved and somehow still fucked up.

Reynaldo Urena

There’s been 8 Green Lanterns, you forgot about the OG, Alan Scott, and the newest GL, Sojourner Mullein

SunnydaleClassof99

#SundayRundown Spidey jokes that dogs can't be Lanterns. There actually is a dog Lantern though. G'nort, whose assigned to Space Sector 2112. He's from the planet G'Newt which is populated by humanoid canines. G'nort is a nepo hire as his uncle was a famous Lantern (though he does end up proving himself). He's a fairly niche character but he was featured in an ep of Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Daniel Gonzalez

While I'm happy to see Kyle rayner I hope this doesn't mean they're skipping New Kids on the block it should've been the episode right after Knight time

Ink Noir

#sundayrundown Fun fact! Kyle Rainer is the reason the term ‘fridging’ exist Fridging - When a female character is hurt, killed, maimed, assaulted, or otherwise traumatized in order to motivate a male character or move their plot forward. Kyle Rayner finds his girlfriend literally stuffed into a fridge. She served no purpose to the story other than being Green Lantern's girlfriend, dying and motivating him.

Mzuka

#SundayRundown In terms of human Green Lanterns there's Alan Scott (the OG who is different. he's not part of the Lantern Corps), Hal Jordan, John Stewart (the architect), Kyle Rayner (the artist), Guy Gardener (the asshole). There's also Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz who are newer. There's a new animated Green Lanterns series coming out with Jessica as the protagonist, in the same universe as My Adventures with Superman. There was a run in the comics where Supergirl was a Red Lantern for a while, and in the Smallville Season 11 comics Superman is a Green Lantern for a bit too.

SunnydaleClassof99

#SundayRundown Rana's reaction here is priceless. She's not on board with this 🤣

Shockzz1234

Yup there was even a Simon vs Kyle Death Battle haha

MajinVegeta420

The whole green lantern universe, lore, stories, other rings, etc etc is all goated. The Blackest Night Arc/Comics/Story is just 2 damn good. i know others have said it but its funny that your like "ive never heard of this kyle rayner scrub before" when he's the strongest and best Green Lantern lol XD makes sense tho since you guys dont really know much at all about the GL lore/universe/ weren't a fan of GL prior to the few things you've recently seen in the last year or two.

Ink Noir

hope not either. I know the villain is already in JL but I think I remember the "kids" only being in Unlimited, so idk if they're skipping it because of that.

The Normies

All the different Lantern Corps is so cool!! Would be neat to see it explored more in the tv shows/movies.

The Normies

Oh damn. Was aware of the term, but didn't realized it came from this!

MajinVegeta420

Larfleeze is da GOAT (the only orange lantern user in the universe) (orange is greed and avarice) Larfleeze is the sole, one-man member of the Orange Lantern Corps. He is driven by an obsessive, insatiable never ending hunger and need to hoard anything and everything in the universe. His most iconic catchphrase is simply: "Mine!" He is quite literally insane/crazy and quite literally beyond OP He could unironically beat most of the top people in both DC and Marvel if he truly wanted to/tried to and wasn't so batshit insane/crazy and greedy lol and easily distracted/tricked because of both those reasons lol

MajinVegeta420

Why Larfleeze is so OP 1. He is a One-Man Army - In the DC universe, there are many different Lantern Corps, each representing a different emotion and color (like Green for Willpower, Yellow for Fear, or Red for Rage Etc etc). Normally, a Corps has THOUSANDS of members spread across the galaxy. Larfleeze is the only person who wields the Orange Ring. Because he is so incredibly greedy, he refuses to share his power, meaning the power of the entire Orange Corps runs through just him. 2. His Lantern Corps is Made of Ghosts - Larfleeze's Orange Power Ring allows him to literally absorb the souls and identities of anyone he kills. He then summons these souls as ghostly, glowing orange hard-light constructs to fight for him. Whenever he defeats an enemy, they become another permanent member of his personal Orange Lantern army. 3. His Tragic Backstory Justifies His Greed - Larfleeze is billions of years old and spent his early life as a starved, abused slave. After escaping captivity, he and a gang of thieves stumbled upon the ancient Central Orange Power Battery. The parasitic nature of the Orange Light immediately amplified his suppressed trauma and starved state, turning him into a paranoid, obsessive hoarder who thinks the entire universe is trying to steal the few things he owns. If you want to summarize him in one sentence: "Imagine the greasiest, most obsessive, gold-hoarding dragon in a fantasy story, but give him a glowing space ring that lets him build an army out of the souls of his victims."

#SundayRundown I started reading comics in the early 90s and Kyle Rayner was MY Green Lantern. DC had just shaken up the GLs, destroyed the Corps, killed most of the Guardians and all that was left was Kyle, the last Green Lantern in the universe. I loved those comics! Kyle was just a normal guy who was randomly given the last working ring while he was drunk in an alley. I loved watching him learn to be a hero and little, nerdy teenage me felt like I was growing up with him. As all things do in comics, the GL book went back to the popular version with Hal and the Corps. I do love that mythology and agree with Spidey’s comparison to Star Wars, but I’ll always have a soft spot for Kyle.

Zeee

#SundayRundown - ngl im kinda question Spidey’s comic nerd card lol. He let them think Kyle Rayner was a show only character when was the most popular one during the time this show was released and he’s still a relevant character lol I guess the reason why you guys wouldn’t know him (outside of.. being normies lol) is because he doesn’t get adapted as much for whatever reason. Similar to Tim Drake, in the last episode, he was the popular version of the character at the time but gave him Hal traits like his look. I’m glad this was dropped after you guys watched the Lanterns trailer. FYI; the show is suppose to be cosmic mixed with a HBO-True Detective type tone.

Zeee

She would piss off so many Green Lantern fans

Dale Cooper

It's worth checking out the Blackest Night and Brightest day comics. Big story line involving the different lantern corps and the DCU in general.

Zeee

Really enjoyed you guys Lanterns trailer reaction btw Suraj: “where’s space” The comments: “open your eyes! 😂”

Cordero Stephens`

I really really hope you guys watch Green Lantern First Flight animated movie. To me it’s the best content on GL. That and the Green Lantern Animated Series

Michael Acuna

Surprisingly, I've barely read anything of Kyle Rayner, even though artists-being-superheroes is my jam.

RAV3RXTZ

Green Lantern First Flight and Emerald Knights animated movies are both on HBOMax and great quick intro.

RAV3RXTZ

Also, speaking of gates, Stargate shows are great! Rana knows

Shockzz1234

I was stressing the whole time Navi was on that reddit page man, there were some SPOILERS in there lmao. Anyway, Kyle Rayner is pretty cool. I don't know much about him myself, all I know is that canonically he's a big Gurren Lagann fan so really he's just like me fr (and also he becomes like the most broken and overpowered GL ever). Death Battle did a vid of him vs Simon from Gurren Lagann that was pretty cool. I really should get round to consuming more media featuring him, been meaning to do it for a minute lol. Also as others have said, the whole other colours and corps and emotions for the rings etc doesn't become a thing in DC lore till about 2005 (which is relatively super recent for comics, really!) so the DCAU, coming before all of that, only has Green Lanterns and that's it, except for Sinestro who has the one and only Yellow Ring.

Step B.

I feel like suffers from the Tim Drake syndrome. Popular enough to appear, but not enough to be a focus

Step B.

I hope they read this

Step B.

I was just thinking about this earlier Kyle is to the Lanterns what Tim is to the Bat Family when it comes to adaptations

Katra

Chris wears that Berserk shirt a lot. I will shout it out every time.

@eric.na.goo.yen

1. So stoked for those selected Batman Beyond episodes! I vehemently advocate for y’all to watch the whole series, but I’ll take anything of my favorite DC animated content that you’re willing to check out. 2. Kyle Rayner is my absolute favorite GL and he is CRIMINALLY underrated even though his costumes and his energy constructs were always way way cooler than everyone else’s. He didn’t have Hal’s arrogance or Guy’s brashness. He was a sensitive soul who just wanted to do the right thing. And him being an artist, his constructs were so creative and rich with detail. Plus he’s one of the few GL’s that got the seal of approval from Batman. Bats HATED Hal and Guy. Those two would blast into combat situations without tact and often underestimate their threats. So Bats can’t work with them because they’re showboaters and they’re both unwilling to accommodate to Batman’s standards. Batman once snuck into Kyle Rayner’s bedroom when he was feeling down and uncertain about his role on the League and as a GL. Bats told him he shouldn’t feel uncertain because Batman was certain that he had what it took. Bats told him why he can’t work with Hal and Guy, and he was like “But you, you I can work with. You got the goods.”

CJ Dennis

Yeah and he's became the Tim Drake of Green Lanterns in that he doesn't get much mainstream attention and people overlook him lol 🤔.

CJ Dennis

@The Normies They do sort of in Green Lantern the animated series, which is worthy of a reaction 😎.

CJ Dennis

She got on board with it😂😂 . She just needed it explained to her 🤣🤣.

CJ Dennis

@Step B Yeah I've said the same thing lol.

CJ Dennis

I don't think that episode was on the list of episodes required for JL/JLU. Though it is a good one. They'll have to skip over other great episodes like "the late Mr. Kent" as well 😔.

CJ Dennis

Kyle may be the strongest GL but he's least adapted. Therefore, many don't know about him, he's like Tim Drake 🤔.

CJ Dennis

@Zee I more mad at whoever that redditor is that said that, that they read 😅😅.

CJ Dennis

I'm surprised you didn't say: Hal Jordan (the pilot) lol. There's also Sojourner Mullein who's mostly new 🤔.

Maurice Gray Jr

#sundayrundown Superman and Kyle Rayner/Green Lantern vs Sinestro was EPIC. Kyle was Green Lantern in the 1990s. I liked his origin better- the Guardians had been decimated and one of them came to Earth to personally give Kyle a ring. They gave him Hal Jordan's origin here- I suppose they needed functional Guardians to make the story work.

Michael Colorado

#SundayRundow All the green lanterns of earth 🌎 are Hal Jordan Jon Stewart Guy Gardiner Kyle Rayner Simon Baz Jessica Cruz /limelight there is a whole ass DCAM about Jessica Cruz Justice League vs. the Fatal Five I'll link the trailer https://youtu.be/JhAxZS2lmc8?si=HgcEOoi3wYdkEk1x

Chriz Elkinberg

yeeah Kyle is depicted as the strongest Lantern in general which is all on the color spectrum which is he later on called to do the impossible in order it should go 1. Kyle Rayner 2. Hal Jordan 3. John Stewart 4. Guy Gardner

VisserOne

Can we get a reaction to a few episodes of the 3-D animation show "Green Lantern: The Animated Series" from 2012. Its a great introduction to all the lanterns in my opinion .

Chaos T

That's f'd up lol

Chaos T

Hopefully one day Marketa and Rana will get hyped from hearing the Green Lantern oath. It will happen!

Catalin

Kyle Rayner is my favorite Lantern, it's who I grew up on. Then John Stewart, then Hal Jordan. An artist being a lantern is frankly so much cooler than a marine or test pilot.

Ren Davis

Alan Scott isn’t a Green Lantern Corps Green Lantern and Sojourner Mullein is in an absolutely (heh 😏) different universe.
