Matthew Cronin

I know it’s probably too late but if you are gonna watch literally anything else from this show it should be “The Call” two parter. It is super important.

itsRichErich

letsssss gooooo now we just need Spider-man Unlimited 🔥🔥🔥 I'll be satisfied with just select eps for that too

KrimzonHawka

Oh, was expecting a few more Superman reactions or did they already react to the Aquaman and Doctor Fate Episodes and I missed it? 😢

Emmanuel Roberson

I remember watching this live. It premiered on the WB in primetime, that's how big of a deal this was. Damien Wayne doesn't exist in this universe.

Adan Guzman

I will stand by this show has the coolest Batman intro of all time! Fun Fact: The part at 5:54 where old Bruce Wayne turns isn’t CGI. They created a miniature bust figurine of old Bruce and turned him towards the camera. I would say Bruce’s role is a mixture of Alfred and Oracle to Terry and his dynamic with Terry is one of the shows best qualities. This is still my favorite Batman show and it’s a shame we’re only getting 4 episodes because almost all of them are bangers. But I am looking forward to getting the movie from you guys too.

Emmanuel Roberson

When Terry shows up I think Bruce is in his late 80s or early 90s. Also in this universe that Robin suit is Tim Drake. The DCAU comics touched on Jason Todd, DCAU proper never did, when you watch the Batman Beyond movie you'll learn more about what happen.

Ludwig's Fishbowl

#SundayRundown Great reaction!!! I share Chris and Spidey's excitement!! Also great seeing the rest of the couch get introduced to Terry! Love Batman Beyond!! So many great episodes!! I know it's not on your list but one of my personal favorite episodes is "Meltdown!" Looking forward to seeing "The Call" reaction and more as we continue these great DCAU reactions.

Adan Guzman

So this is NOT Dr. Phosphorus but Powers’ design is based on him since the creators(including Bruce Timm) wanted to use Phosphorus in the animated series but didn’t get a chance to, so they used the design for Blight instead.

Austin Lucek

Joker doesn't die in any of the shows, at least not permanently, Bruce Timm and others said that they purposely killed him and brought him back with no explanation

Jon Mercano

Last SRD you said you already watched the Call so I guess you already watched Return of the Joker, so it’s on to Justice League (oh you added out of the past!) With the short list you had you wouldn’t have seen Derek Powers again. He takes on the name Blight. He was visually inspired by Doctor Phosphorous The extra episodes I recommended included some more of him.

Narutoanime16

Bad boy Terry baby !!! Honesty WB is so stupid for not doing anything more with Batman Beyond other than the comics & one animated movie. I’d of loved for the Spiderverse people to do it but they got shut down by WB for even a concept for it

Gremmy Thoumeaux

My question is more for the comments than the Normies: So I’m actually meeting the voice of Terry this weekend you can imagine how excited I am. Are there any questions you guys be interested in me asking him?

Adan Guzman

They added Out of the Past? YES! 🙌 Is Meltdown on the list too or not?

Adan Guzman

WB I just allergic to making money man. And after seeing the concept art, I can’t believe they turned it down. Batman Beyond as an IP deserves more recognition.

TrixieTurner

Yes finally the countdown is rounding its end, it’s almost time for justice league to arrive.

Objuan

Are they going to react to the movie as well?

Jon Mercano

Seems not. Marketa named everything on the list here. The 2 part premiere, Dead Man’s Hand, The Call 2 parter, Out of the Past, and the movie. Maybe they’ll add more but I kinda doubt it, I think they’ll have finished these and moved on to JL already

Adan Guzman

Meltdown is such a great episode and probably has the coolest design of THAT character. Out of the Past might’ve been added but not too sure. I hope it was since it’ll be cool for them to see how the story of some of Bruce’s old rogues ended. This is my favorite Batman show and I also wish they could see more episodes but at least we’re getting any at all.

721shadow

you guys should react to the episode with inque , she's such a cool villain.

Kay Bee Baby

Yup. Especially after they watched the two Lobo STAS episodes.

J. J.

Terry McGinnis is the GOAT, one of the few DC Animated original characters who got so popular they made them canon in the comics, others being Aqualad (Kalder), Harley Quinn and Static Shock

Ben Ivinson

interesting they going batman beyond before Justice League

The Normies

omg that's so cool about the figurine!!

Denickart

Some episodes worth checking out are "Meltdown" and "Ascension" for the rest of the Powers storyline

#SundayRundown NGL the first time I saw this it felt really jarring coming of the heels of BTAS. It just feels like a very different show. Once I got into the rhythm of it I enjoyed it quite a bit. It's a shame they haven't been bold enough to show this world in a splashy live action adaptation.

Kay Bee Baby

#sundayrundown The intro animation for Batman Beyond (or Batman of the Future as we Euro’s know it) was designed by renowned comic artist Darwin Cooke. Bruce is alone at the beginning of the show because DCAU Batman is not very good at keeping up his relationships. There’s a noticeable switch in his attitude from The Animated Series to New Batman Adventures. Why aren’t his allies around anymore? His fall out (and the reason for it) with Selina is never shown in the show (the Batman Adventures comics did) but the few times she shows up there’s absolutely no love, romance or even good will between them anymore. His fall out with Dick was shown in the “Old Wounds” TNBA episode and “Revenge of the Joker” shows why Babs and Tim Drake aren’t around anymore. TNBA is Batman years into his crusade and while he by that point can essentially predict the Joker, but crime never really gets better and even with all his efforts as Bruce only a few villains ever get rehabilitated. He can never win just keep the city from getting even worse. Justice League is where Batman regains his humanity, gets more emphatic again. But he still ends up alone by the begin of Beyond because he ultimately isolated himself… until he met Terry. Terry not looking like his father will comeback/get addressed.

Ren Davis

Perfect way to encapsulate Bruce’s retirement is to have him rely on a gun. If Batman was so overwhelmed that he had to resort to the weapon that killed his parents then he no longer had a reason to exist. It captured everything about Bruce’s core in one shot. Beyond has one of the coolest intros. Once again, a perfect encapsulation of the series. It starts off with vices as you see the city in a dystopian vibe then shows heroic ideals after Terry shows up. Will Friedle (Fradell) may always be known as Eric Matthews, but to me he will always be Terry McGinnis (and Ron Stoppable 😉 )

Narutoanime16

If he happy with em watching more of Batman Beyond & Static Shock after Justice League Unlimited if they are down

Narutoanime16

#SundayRunDown The Robin in this universe & Batman the Animated series is Tim Drake , yes Dick was Robin but he was Robin for years into college years, then he became Nightwing in S3 of the show then they introduced Tim. The Batman show skipped over Jason cause his death is too violent for a kids show. So only Barbra, Dick & Tim were the Bat fam for Bruce in this Bruce Timm universe of shows

Ren Davis

Honestly, this idea shouldn’t have worked. The network wanted a Teen Batman, as in Teen Bruce Wayne. The creative team thought that was a beyond (heh 😏) stupid idea. They opted instead to create Terry McGinnis and give it a Batman meets Spider-Man vibe. Great idea. Fun fact: There was going to be a Spider-Man 2099 show, but they scrapped it because they felt it would be too similar to Batman Beyond. They ended up making Spider-Man Unlimited instead. Shame for the Miguel O’Hara fans 😔

Step B.

Bruce: ah yes all these costumes for the Bat Family; me, Dick, Tim, and Barbara. Yes only us 4 and NO ONE else. Absolutely not at all

Ren Davis

Damian didn’t exist yet. He was created in 2006. This show premiered in 1999. That Robin was Tim Drake as he was the Robin when the show was created. He had his own long-running series and was super popular at the time, so the show opted to use him and adopt some Jason Todd traits.

Denickart

Jason Todd was also just an unpopular character until Under the Red Hood

@eric.na.goo.yen

1. Chris, Suraj, and Spidey doing the intro theme dance added 5 years minimum to my lifespan. Thank you, gentlemen. 2. I’ve gone over 25 years not knowing that George Takei voiced Mr. Fixx. Yall pointing that out makes hearing Mr. Fixx’s lines sound so much better 🤌🤌

Maurice Gray Jr

#sundayrundown I've seen select episodes of this series, but never the two-part origin. Now I'm binging the rest- I'm invested now :-). I loved the setup- fifty-something Batman realizing he's too old to carry on (that gun scene was epic) and hanging up the cowl. I knew that happened, but I didn't realize it was twenty years until Terry took over. Like Chris said, criminals have had decades to forget to be scared. Terry's got his work cut out for him.

Michael Colorado

Can we please just start with the Justice League show now? tired of these 1 off reaction episodes. With the amount you watch already, you could have been on Justice League Unlimited by now.

Michael Colorado

I disagree The Batman 2005 Cartoon has the best intro

GKDreamerTV

Batman Beyond became one of the coolest DC animated series, right next to Justice League Unlimited. I’m so glad that Suraj, Chris, and Spidey are fans of the theme song. My brother, Meow Meow, also enjoys the gay dancing. It gives me major cyberpunk vibes.

CJ Dennis

Batman picking up a gun against a criminal is what convinced the crew to do this show. As Kids WB at the time wanted a younger Batman series and the crew were hesitant at first until that scene was pitched by Paul Dini I think 🤔.

Frankie H

"Yeah, I'll be a big success just like you." Talk about the worst last words to say to a parent before they're brutally murdered. In both this premiere and the "Superman: The Animated Series" premiere Kaznia the fictional Eastern European country is trying to get super weapons from American companies. In the Superman: TAS premiere Lex Luthor was selling the Lexo suit mech thing, in this episode Powers is selling a bio weapon. It's kind of funny how both series the pilot episodes involve an evil CEO's giving weapons of mass destruction to Kaznia, somewhere in Eastern Europe. Does anyone else think it's weird that they did that very specific plot twice?

Frankie H

I remember that too, I watched the premiere, that was back in 1999 and I was 8. I thought it was so cool watching a cartoon series premiere at night. It was such a big deal.

AWH

Just went blind wave finished last week, here you are

Dale Cooper

The ending scene with him saying he's pretty strong for somebody calling himself batman and saying he is batman was part of the bumper for the show.

Shockzz1234

The Call is on the list dw, they're gonna watch it!

Shockzz1234

Yeah they say in the discussion that Out of the Past has been added, which is good!

Shockzz1234

It's often said that Terry was influenced by Peter Parker/Spider-Man, was that something you leaned into when voicing him and if so, were there any specific Spider-Man voices roles or performances that you drew inspiration from? And for another alternative question (this is kinda spoiler for the Normies, so don't read this) - how far in advance were you made aware, if you were made aware at all, of the Project Batman Beyond twist in the DCAU and did that have any influence on how you played Terry when he interacted with Bruce and how you interacted with the late great Kevin Conroy?

Shockzz1234

And Mercy Graves! Got to give my girl some credit!

Shockzz1234

The 20 year skip is also interesting because it means the Beyond suit is techincally outdated by 2 decades even by the time Terry dons it. Even though it's so high tech already, imagine if it were made more recently?

Shockzz1234

Kinda interesting how linked Batman Beyond and Spider-Man (especially 2099) are - because iirc there was gonna be a Batman Beyond movie but they couldn't get it green lit, so we got the Spider-Verse movies instead lol. And there was supposed to be a Batman Beyond Arkham game too. Dammit man, I'm always shocked at how little Terry is in stuff outside the DCAU, give him some love, why is it so hard to get his projects off the ground?!

Shockzz1234

Yes, the creators weren't fans of Todd iirc so they elected to mix him and Drake together into one character (which becomes even more obvious in the Beyond movie lol).

Shockzz1234

Chronologically of course this comes after, but as a show this was released first, so it makes sense. Always do release order people! Well, most of the time!

Shockzz1234

Btw you've seen Tim Drake Robin in an ep you watched, the one where Bruce is abducted by Brainiac and Tim and Superman team up, and Superman pretends to be Batman lol

Cordero Stephens`

Hey guys! Just want to say that when this show came out Damian Wayne did not yet exist in the comics. He’s a pretty new development in Batman lore. Happy watching!

Ren Davis

I don’t remember if they tried to do it before Spider-Verse, but they did use the Spider-Verse style. They were told that there was no way that they could make a Batman Beyond movie, but they did the concept art and pitch anyway. The absolute no turned into a possible maybe 😂

Ren Davis

SPOILERS: It’s funny how another thing that Batman Beyond and Spider-Man 2099 have in common is that it’s revealed that their Irish father isn’t their biological father. Miguel’s biological father is Tyler Stone, the Derek Powers of 2099. I don’t much care for the Project Batman Beyond twist. Too essentialist for me. Felt that it undercut some of what worked in Beyond.

Ren Davis

Static started in comics in 1993. They eventually brought him over to mainline DC in the mid to late 2000s with his TV show design, but he was originally a comic character first. He was a Milestone (a DC imprint) character.

Zeee

You guys have a keyboard in front of you and are purposefully getting things wrong lmao There is no Jason Todd or Damien in this universe You saw the episode with Tim Drake in the very same suit lmao. Cmon yall.

Spidey Spice

Need you guys to watch the entire series and then Justice League and Justice League unlimited. It's a great series in total and they inter connect in a few crossover episodes and you get the true finale I'm Justice League unlimited.

Gremmy Thoumeaux

So according to Will Friedle when I asked him about Spidey, he didn’t think about it at all. As for the other question SPOILERS FOR NORMIES: Apparently he was informed of the twist only 3 days prior to recording that episode and that Bruce Timm did a good job keeping it from the cast about the twist. I asked him what he thought about the twist and he told me he liked it. I also asked him about if he were interested in playing Terry in the proposed Batman Beyond movie the Spider-Verse creators were denied and he said he would’ve been down prior to Kevin Conroy dying, but then wasn’t after his passing he wouldn’t feel like it unless maybe another famous Batman actor took the role but who knows, as he said.
