Normies think the CGI is bad or "okay" wtf? The CGI is the best part of this live-action. It's been top-tier, especially with the serpent pass. It's the writing and some acting that are bad.

it's interesting how they changed almost everything about Jet. He never suspects Zuko and Iroh are firebenders. He lost his crew before they reach Ba Sing Se. He doesn't get brainwashed by the Dai Li. He dies in the library.

I thought ep 1 was a good intro🥲

Yeah if people watch this kind of as a standalone multiverse version of ATLA, they’d definitely enjoy it more versus comparing it to the original lmao. Like I’ve definitely noticed that those who haven’t watched the animated series really enjoy the Live Action still

I like this ep the most of NATLA. I think they executed the library really well and the changes here made sense. One tiny thing I feel is worth mentioning is that Toph sees/feels things through earth bending - and by her being in the spirit world she cant bend, so she shouldn't have as much spatial awareness/see/function as easily in the library. Small thing but felt it should be mentioned

I liked Micky's point, this show does feel like a stage play, and maybe some people will enjoy the performance or maybe they won't. I appreciate the efforts. Also, I did not think Wan Shi Tong could just eat people, lol.

Gimme eps 6 & 7 they're my faves!🙆‍♀️

I enjoy this live action (I'm watching it with you, so I haven't finished it yet). I like the actors, and I understand why condensing and changing the story makes sense for a live action. I don't think a true live action could have been made given the pacing and change of locations in the original. They have some misses in both seasons, but I also think they added some good stuff as well. But I think I like this because I read ATLA fanfiction, and this is basically a fanfic I would have read and enjoyed. I have some issues with ATLA and I don't consider it a perfect show, nor do I have the same nostalgia many other people have, so that might be why I don't have the same visceral reaction to the changes other people do. The cartoon is much better, but I don't view this as bad. Just a fun fanfiction given a budget. I do agree that the amount of useless live action adaptations is infuriating, and that honestly, this story did not need a live action. Its a Great show, there was no need. I also agree a redo of Korra (which is my favorite between the two shows) could polish the story and weave the arcs together better. It is also a story with fewer changes in locations, which would be easier to adapt. The age of the actors needed would also make it much easier to make.

This show just doesn’t hit if you really like the original, you can’t help but compare it and it just falls short on so many levels. It’s a shame but one of the dangers you run into making an adaptation from such a beloved series.

having just finished this, I would like to say how much I appreciated all of your positivity of just wanting to see this world and characters and story even if it's not exactly the same. I have been die hard, and I mean die hard, fan of Avatar since it was airing in 2006-07. And very few people even knew of the show and most had still never watched it and judged it from the cringy nickelodeon commercials. So, I was among very few fans of Avatar back then. And watching it grow in popularity and gaining more respect over the last 2 decades has been incredible. I am just so amazed that my favorite show is finally being treated so seriously by the "industry" after seeing it only mocked and scoffed at. Good or not, How many franchises have had a chance of getting a live adapation twice? The show has been complete for 18 years, nothing can change that. I am just so thankful that Avatar is being given a second chance after the disastrous movie. Never again did I or any of us back then think we'd ever get to see a second chance.

I wasn't finished I pressed 'Enter' by mistake. But I just love seeing this story being told at this scale, with this much effort put into it, seeing the bending sequences in live action still have me in awe at how good it looks. And on top of all that, is there a single white person in the show on screen? As a white (gay) man myself who also enjoys movies and tv, I am so happy to finally see a show being of this scale and recognition giving this amazing roles to actors who might've not had the chance because of Hollywood's prejudice. The actress that plays Katara, she wore a dress to the Season 2 premire that had been made in a traditional Native American style, and unfortunetly I know how rare that is.
