So what’s the verdict on the extra episodes? Bruce Timm has admitted he doesn’t like the reveal that Starro’s been controlling Superman for years. And it doesn’t make sense that he would’ve recruited Terry while being controlled partly to help him find the traitor. One of the writers (jokingly) said it was Superman’s subconcious fighting back I think I would personally headcanon that Starro’s control was more subconcious, so Superman still acts normally but is being prevented from realizing something is wrong, and Starro fully takes over when he tries to kill the Justice League members and gets found out

I really hope you guys check out the Return of the Joker movie at some point, its a must for the Batman Beyonde universe

That’s next and last on their list for Beyond. Unless they’ve added from that list of recommended episodes

#SundayRundown Yess!! This was the first real big push with the Justice League in the DCAU. STAS had some of the solo team up episodes but now we're getting closer. Great reaction!! So glad you all saw the Lobo episodes!! Definitely was a great call!

That would make sense also years doesn’t have to mean decades (where most people’s mind goes to when it’s first revealed). We see the Zoo in the Fortress in JLU so it could’ve just been a few years with the creation of this Justice League.

Aquagirl was voiced by Jodi Benson aka Ariel

#sundayrundown This one of the best call backs in the DCAU to events in early BTAS/STAS episodes, that came back years later in brand new shows. In the comics Starro was the League’s first antagonist that they faced together, so making him the first villain that faces this version of the Justice League Beyond is a nice homage. Around 2009 when DC did a lot of digital comics they brought Batman Beyond comics back pretty decent over all (the “1000 Jokers” storyline was a personal favourite and quite good) and also made a Justice League Beyond series that is really good. It had great art and expanded the team from this episode with Billy Batson/Shazam and my favourite member the Flash Beyond, Danica Williams a black girl from Central City. That series also brought back the Cobra organisation from Batman Beyond and one of the best Justice League villain teams which I won’t name since it would be a spoiler.

#SundayRundown Barda is voiced here by Farrah Forke. She was a regular on the NBC sitcom Wings. Kevin Conroy auditioned for the lead role on that show just barely losing out to Tim Daly. Years later they'd be linked again when Tim was cast as Superman & Kevin was already a vet of a few years as Batman.

SundayRundown: I loved these episodes! These were great for the run up to Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. I liked this team- Micron was my favorite new character (voiced by Wayne Brady?!?) and I also liked Aquagirl. I noticed that the computer file said that her father Aquaman was "Whereabouts unknown." Wonder where he got off to? I questioned having Barda instead of the equally ageless Wonder Woman on the team until I realized they needed Boom Tube tech to make the story work :-). I'm guessing Mr. Miracle got too old to keep adventuring like Batman did. Too bad they never did a Justice League Beyond animated series- it could have been fun to watch. Can't wait for Return of the Joker and then Justice League!

Totally schway! I actually remember reading a spin-off series called Superman Beyond; after being unstarro'ed, Clark tries to get back to doing normal Clark Kent stuff.

Shay

They literally show that Clark was already older when Starro attached himself; I never understood why people always assume it was a super long time, it really was probably only a couple years😅

#SundayRundown - these episodes were basically used to "test" whether the idea of a full on JL show was possible or not. The creators (Bruce TImm, Paul Dini etc) weren't sure if they could handle a show with a whole big cast of characters or not since up till this point they basically only had to deal with a handful of characters in each series (BTAS, STAS, BB) and more often than not all the characters wouldn't be in the same ep anyways. So they created this two parter purely to see if they could pull off having a large cast of characters all in one episode at once. Clearly it gave them the confidence that they could do it, since we got JL/U a few years later! Also they thought about showing Superman caring for an elderly Lois Lane in these eps, but cut it because they thought it'd be too depressing (indicating to us that Lois' condition in this time period is less than good, which makes sense given how old she'd be). Also speaking of cut stuff from this time period, there was also gonna be something else about BB era Superman that was gonna be revealed and would tie to something later on in JL/U but it got cut because of spoiler reasons that I'll detail when we get there lol. Lastly, there's also a line in this two parter that is super foreshadowy and sets up something big, but you'll only know it when you get to a specific JL/U episode, remember this as I'll bring it up ;) And yes, Christopher Mcdonald is BB era Superman, who is also Jor-El in STAS. (Also, i know Suraj showing them the ending of the Shriek episode was probs a one off, but I implore you to show them the ending of the episode "Sneak Peek" as well, one of the greatest endings to a DCAU episode ever, freaked me out as a kid lol)

Christopher Parker

One thing to remember about Kryptonite is in DCAU, it's rare. At most, Bruce and Lex would only have a small chunk.

Cordero Stephens`

Fun fact: the voice actor for older Superman was the same actor that play his father in the animated series. Also: this was basically the first tv appearance of Justice League since like the Superfriend days. Paved the way for JL and JLU.

Did something happen with the One Piece reaction this week? Cuz I don't see the notification in my email...🤷🏿‍♂️

Shockzz1234

They said last week there won't be a One Piece drop this week unfortunately, I think because both Rana and Navi (and maybe some others?) were away for a week or two. But they did also say they will make up for it in the future maybe, so fingers crossed!

Solebat

I think I know what line you're referring to

Dale D. Ellis

Wow I must've missed that update

Shockzz1234

It was on their usual One Piece post from last week haha. Tbf I almost missed it as well.

I like that you guys said Supes looks more like Jor-El because he’s actually voiced by him too. Instead of Tim Daly they got Christopher McDonald who did Jor-El which is a nice touch.

1. That scene from the Shriek episode with Bruce’s line is one of my favorite DCAU scenes, so goated 🤌 2. Rana: “Green Lantern Avatar.” Fun Fact #1: in a Justice League Beyond comic there’s an issue with that GL kid’s backstory and he was a monk in a monastery. Then on the day that one of the monks would be selected for the next Dalai Lama, we see that it was actually supposed to be the kid, but due to the scheming of another nefarious monk, the whole selection process was dismissed. So that kid ended up being a GL instead. Fun Fact #2: the other monk who messed up the selection process is revealed to be a Batman Beyond villain named Kurare. 3. Suraj: “If you guys want a lighthearted watch, watch Requiem for a Dream.” I’m dead 🤣💀 4. Seeing Suraj figuring out the connection to the Lobo episodes was the glorious finish line I’ve enjoyed watching along for. Loved getting to watch yall experience this. I can’t wait to watch JL/JLU

Spidey Spice

If you guys are looking for the Finale of Batman Beyond you can find it in Justice League Unlimited. Season 2 Episode 13. If you guys are not watching all of Justice League I Highly suggest this be the next episode you watch to close out Batman Beyond

Love Wings...going through a rewatch now.
