#SundayRundown I think this series served as the introduction of J'onn J'onzz for many people. He's a great multifaceted character. In the late 80s he was part of Keith Giffen & J.M. DeMatteis landmark Justice League International comic run. The stories were known for its absurd humor with lesser known heroes & also some incredibly dark moments.

#SundayRundown - This a little long, but just some background facts: John Stewart is not the best Green Lantern when it comes to using his imagination. His military background makes him a great tactician but also very practical, that means he’s always going to go for the most simple solution he can think of to get the job done. So don’t be too surprised if he doesn’t do creative constructs like Kyle Rayner or Hal Jordan because that’s just who John is as a character, both in comics & tv/movies. J’onn is called Martian Manhunter because in the 1950’s Manhunter was a term for a detective/crime fighter, and usually his human persona is a detective. Hawkgirl and her counterpart Hawkman have a very interesting but complicated comic lore with many different interpretations, just focus on this show and watch as her story unfolds.

Yeah in the comics John mainly uses his ring to makes guns but they can't really do that for a Cartoon Network show so he just gets laser beams

Oh fuck the hell yes, bless the gods this show is sooo good. Watching it back again takes me back to my days a homunculus. The shows just as good it hits just as hard and it makes me giddy to think about. This is just touching the top of how good the show and dc can get, I haven’t been this exited to follow your guys journey through a show since korra! Love peace and chicken grease!

#SundayRundown This is my favorite Justice League origin, comics and TV combined. It makes so much sense for J'onn to call the heroes together rather than having them just happen to converge on the scene at the same time. It's been awhile since I saw this- I'd forgotten how much of a dick John Stewart was to Wonder Woman when she showed up. She proved herself quickly though- I think Batman forgot Catwoman existed for a second there when he saw Diana make short work of that alien :-). As for Hawkgirl, I think this was her first time getting any shine without a Hawkman beside her in any medium and I'm here for it.

This show was the first time I ever saw Green Lantern in anything. So years later when we got a movie announced and that Ryan Reynolds was playing him I was so confused. I was like, “Who the hell is Hal Jordan and why’s he white?!”

#SUNDAYRUNDOWN: This is the first time ever we see John Stewart in animation since his creation in 1971, he was also my first Green Lantern, even before I knew Hal Jordan in Super Friends. This is also the first animated appearance of J'onn J'onzz since his creation in 1955, despite being a founding member of the JL since 1960!

Yeah I think the creators at one point only wanted John to use extremely practical constructs in order to separate him from other Lanterns. However, they would later fix this in the series. It's also probably because of budget and it being easier for the animators for them to do this for a weekly television show 🤔,

#SundayRundown IDK if Rana remembers John diggle from the arrowverse who was on team arrow, the black military guy. In one of the crossovers when they had the 90s flash he mentioned "hey john, you arent wearing your ring" basically what the arrowverse was suggesting was that John diggle was John stewarts in the 90s flash universe and he was the green lantern

#SundayRundown - so fun fact, Martian Manhunter is named that because he originally was a detective from Mars (it is Detective Comics for a reason) and man hunter is an old, outdated term for detective
