#SundayRundown - I love this show, as a comic fan & tv show fan. I believe S2 will happen and to respond to Chris’s thoughts, I believe S2 cannot be the same as S1 because a Green Lantern show can’t be kept completely on Earth, the DC cosmos are too vast for that. In the BTS after this ep, Lindeloff said when they were making the show, the jumping off point was how do we tell a Green Lantern story without leaving Earth and then as it was discussed further they felt that was just imposing restrictions on them for no reason and instead decided to just limit intergalactic travel for this season. There are so many elements within the GL mythos, so many characters, stories, & philosophies that trying to limit the show to just recapturing S1 would be a disservice to both fans and the creators in future seasons. There have been 9 Green Lanterns from Earth - 3 we’ve met in Live action so far - and over 10 Lantern Corps over the course of comics history. This show, which didn’t even limit itself by naming it Lanterns, deadass can go for 10 plus seasons.

John being able to maintain constructs without the ring isn't really doing anything for me. Feels like kind of a pointless inclusion to artificially boost his power level in the eyes of the viewer. He can do it in that one specific comic but it feels more like something you build up to after a few years. Having it from the jump just feels random, we really didn't need it.

GodUsopp

i mean its very obvious its for this halogram situation, they worked backwards from hals death, so they had to set up john being able to do it

Dragon

But John has the ring and needs it to project the Halogram in the first place.

This show is so good & I can’t believe we have 1 more left. What a ride it’s been. I hope a S2 is greenlit and this show is just making John & Guy returning in Man Of Tomorrow next summer all the more hype

Now with more knowledge, I feel Green Lantern The Animated Series is a must watch. It's only 26 episodes 🥺 Please 🥺🥺🥺🥺.

Seems like its not going to be random and will pay off in the end. I foresee a situation where John is keeping Hal's hologram alive but has to do his oath with the ring and it probably wipes it and he'll get to a point where he doesn't want to lose Hal. They are already showing John building a way bigger bond with Halogram that he ever did with the alive one.

#SundayRundown Many people put the parallels between the baseball and the ring but knowing what we know about Martin Jordan's depression I look at the baseball as life. He's telling his son to just let go cos holding on to life is exhausting. In the end we saw Hal go back for the ball so it's him breaking the Jordan Legacy cos he held on to life. It's going to come back to us when it is shown that Hal faked his own death, ie shot a clone body in the head. Also I really hate to be “that guy” but Einstein-Rosen bridges are not black holes, They are wormholes. One is a mass with gravity so strong not even light can escape and the other is folded space so you can travel vast distances in no time.

#SundayRundown I think you guys hit the nail on the head with your theories about Hal's suicidal tendencies. I suspect when he got out of jail, he went to Rushville to get killed, which Kerry mistook for accountability. She became his light in the darkness, and I think that's when he started booby trapping his house, since he no longer wanted to die. I suspect Hal learned about Kerry's son and was put in an impossible place. Report/Kill the kid, or let it take him out (We know Manhunters can and will kill to complete the mission). We know the kid was Kerry's world, she even yelled it at Hal in episode 5. Hal didn't want to pull Kerry back into the dark place he was in. Either he would die by the Manhunter, or he'd pull Kerry into his depression and she'd probably kill herself. I think Hal loved Kerry too much to do that to her.

I’m still on the boat that Noah Macon is a man hunter and Hal found out. Thats why Noah killed him, and why Kerry’s covering it up. It also explains the miracle that Zoe gave Kerry, and when Zoe said to Noah, “see without being seen. don’t forget what I told you”. Noahs also so charismatic it seems he has the whole town under a spell like Zoe did.

I Think Hal didnt off himself , he was murdered for sure

NICK Luna

In the 1st episode when that alien tells him, "It seems like You want to die, Hal Jordan", makes so much sense now. It also makes sense why Hal cant let go of the ring as well. He just can't or else he'll have to confront the Jordan Boys legacy.

Sage

John Stewart casually rocking a Richard Millie and she still wants more🤦🏽‍♂️

Bob

it was a couple runs i think

#sundayrundown Hal did not have the ring when he died as most of you knew/remembered… but also Green Lanterns can’t use the ring to kill/use deadly force. Or at least couldn’t for a very long time in the comics, until the Sinestro Corps war when the Guardians enabled the rings to use deadly force. Made sense since their first peacekeeping force the Manhunters annihilated not just a planet (like here in the show) but an entire sector in the comics. Generally the Guardians are good intentioned but self important, hypocritical and for millennia old creatures short sighted (there’s always 1-2 that are alright). Giving Hal’s family from his dad’s side serious depression is good writing. To be a GL one must be able to have great will power and be able to overcome fear, doing it by having him be from a line of people with mental health issues is a great take. He has will power because despite his legacy he’s been all over the universe but it also explains that beat down, more somber version of him in the early episodes, that won’t give up the ring/resents John. So both Hal and John are men with serious emotional issues that affect them in a way that they can handle their fear better than most people can. Just a guess, but with Sinestro being there… maybe they’re in the Antimatter universe on planet Quard where Sinestro first gets a yellow ring (before it was assigned as fear on the emotional spectrum). The show has been really interesting with how it uses decades of lore so far.

Jon Mercano

You gotta do the animated movies First Flight and Emerald Knights. Hal origin and anthology of different GLs respectively. And of course the animated series The squirrel lanterns aren’t actual squirrels 😂 They’re aliens who look like squirrels. Ch’p (Chip) and his successor B’dg (Badge)

#SundayRundown Am I the only one who thinks that Ataan's homeworld is Mogo? I saw green veins in the ground when John and Halogram came through the portal and a green glow in the distance. Mogo has the power to affect minds- in the comics Green Lanterns take R & R on Mogo when they get burned out and Mogo helps them deal with their inner conflicts. They could be doing a take from the comics where Mogo was dormant for a time and folks settled there while he was taking a nap (he let them stay once he woke up). If Mogo was out cold when Ataan's people lived there, he couldn't control his mind warping power and that's what killed them all and almost got John to kill himself. Whether it's Mogo or not, I think Lianna broke Sinestro out and stashed him there until she's ready to create the Sinestro Corps. With no ring, Sinestro is stuck there until someone helps him leave. She left Hal the portal because Parallax is in her and wanted her to. I think the endgame is Parallax revives Hal as a new host. Cliffhanger ending, huge Lantern fight in either Season 2 or a Lanterns movie. And Earl becomes a Green Lantern :-)
