Shot the man she "loved" to protect her son from... someone who was trying to protect him? I get it if Hal said that Noah needed to be locked up by the Guardians, or even killed for being the final manhunter, but he was talking about protecting them as a family. AND SHE WALKS AWAY FREE AND CLEAR? Crazy. Hopefully she turns herself in. Other than that, great finale and great season. Looking forward to season 2.

I understand what they were trying to do in that Guy and John scene at the end, but in my mind that scene is ending with fist being thrown; Guy is too hot headed to not end up in a fight after being talked to like that.

Guy didn't even do anything wrong to warrant John treating him like this. He did more good as Green Lantern than Hal and John did throughout the entire show lmao. What a failure.

Guy helped stop a war crime lost from being made and the planet from bring destroyed by a black hole. John over there had sex with an "alien robot" and lied to cover for a murder making himself complicit. Not to mention stealing property and threatening someone for trying to regain said property. GO REWATCH SUPERMAN.

The finale pissed me off, i loved the show because i thought it was building up to something and hals death was a bigger mystery than "killed by a terrible cop", and the people on twitter that i have been arguing with for months now were right, you cant have a green lantern show with this little space stuff and constructs, no action sequences or constructs in the finale? really? of a GREEN LANTERN show?

Feel like everything else was shit on for john to shine and even then they made him unlikable with guy. Cant believe we didnt get the oath but thank god you gusyheard the cartoon one. Typical lindeholf, throws a lot of shit out that seems interesting but then crashes the landing.

#Sunday Rundown - LITTLE LONG; I apologize: To answer your question Suraj, yes there are variations of the green lantern oath in the comics depending on what species or planet the Green Lantern is from. For example, there’s a blind green lantern named Rot Lop Fan who’s species is blind and has no concept of colors or Light so his ring was reforged into a bell and his oath was done to match it: “In loudest din or hush profound, My ears catch evil's slightest sound. Let those who toll out evil's knell, Beware my power: the F-Sharp Bell!” Also Female Forager from Young Justice remixed her oath when she became a Green Lantern because her race doesn’t use pronouns. The original Green Lantern oath isn’t even the Iconic one we know today, look it up. Also shout out to Earl Jordan, the plant homie made it to the end, John’s family adopted him, you can see him next to Bernadette at the end of the ep.

and then James gunn lied about hals death he responsed to someone on threads or whatever about them complaining about hals death saying "if that even is what happened" basically implying there was more to his death, turns out it wasnt and he just died like a dog and the killer gets to live happily ever after. the moment they came to him with the idea of killing hal and not bringing him back before the season ends they should of been fired on the spot what an idiotic way to turn 50 percent of green lantern fans instantly against your show

I’m for one am glad this finale was character driven, I’m tired of CGI fights being the finale to every superhero show. We’ll have plenty of time for aliens, space battles, and ring constructs in the movies

#SundayRundown: The finale was less "DC" than I expected and I'm with that. No huge battle against an overwhelming force with a death beam from the sky (did that a few episodes ago)- we just got the murderer out in the open and some mysteries resolved. Nice twist that Kerry actually did kill Hal after Noah confessed to doing it. The acting was first rate, particularly John and Noah's scene and John annd the Halogram's final scene together. I was surprised they just left Sinestro on that planet, but this won't be the last we see of him. I was also surprised that Lianna just vanished from the storyline after John gave her back the ring and battery. I still think she's a rogue Guardian- we might see more of her next season. My only beef was that Earl didn't get a ring :-). At some point in the series I need Earl to become a Green Lantern so he can get out and do something other than wait for someone to feed him lots of meat. Random thought: Am I the only one who thinks Noah looks like Pyro from X-Men 3? I swear that could be his kid.

Yes you can have a Green Lantern show without all of that, we just did. What you can’t do is all the cosmic stuff to that quality on this tv show budget. This show has got general audiences - not just us GL fans - into the brand. We can have a Green Lantern movie down the line now, and see the full Corps at an intergalactic scale. It’s ok if you don’t fw this, but being mad at this show is just strange to me. This is always what it was going to be, it’s what they told us, and it was a damn good story.

I don’t think the yellow in John’s is going to be a problem I think it will be an asset. Back in the day Green Lantern constructs couldn’t work on yellow, and I could see them adapting a version of this down the line when Sinestro creates his Corps, with regular Lanterns being vulnerable. With John having fear built into his lantern and his oath, he could be uniquely able to make overcome it. Lore aside, I love the thematic and psychological resolution for John. His conclusion was all integration (in the Jungian sense). His shadow, what he was conditioned/raised/programmed to repress, was Fear. In Jungian theory (very simplified), you will be a slave to your shadow until you embrace and integrate it. All through the show we saw people moving based off fear. Bernadette tricked John into going back to Rushville because she was afraid for Hal, Kerry called John to Rushville because she was afraid Noah was a monster. Even Hal telegraphed all the clues about Guy and how to get Hal’s ring to John because he was afraid that Noah might kill him. In this last episode Sinestro tries to use Hal’s fear of death to manipulate him into betraying John, and then to manipulate John into turning on Hal. Having Hal tell John not be afraid of fear before he ‘dies’ was perfect after we began the season with Hal saying he was fearless because he lost his dad, especially with Hal becoming a father figure to John by the end there. And John swearing to embrace his Fear and literally shadow integrating with its Light. And shout out to the visual direction cause fear was all over the episode and season via the colour yellow. And it was a noticeably warmer and brighter yellow in the final scenes of the episode.

I think people set themselves up for failure if they expected some massive cgi battle or something. Yes sure they could've did more Green Lantern stuff but from episode 1 it was set up to be more grounded. The writers went on a podcast and said that if they started to use Green Lantern power frequently it would ruin the story they wanted to tell because the ring could literally do anything. The show runner also said they set things up for season 2 so you might get those things but they wanted to just tell John origin story for season 1. Also not all Yellow Lanterns are evil yes they get fear externally to power the ring but they also can get it internally in the comics. Also John in the comics has been a Yellow Lantern and wasn't evil.

I'm sure leaving Sinestro alone on a planet filled with FEAR and the capabilities of forging a lantern will have NO REPERCUSSIONS. I also like the little motes of Yellow in the lantern when John charges it. This lantern is something new, and I'm interested in see where this goes going forward.

This is all the show runner said about season 2 “I mean, again, we want to treat it all—you know, we won’t be back in Rushville most likely unless something crazy happens in Rushville, you know, every 10 years. But you’re going to—it’s going to be an Earth-based story that we continue most likely. So you taking it as John only staying on Earth as more "grounded" which I'm talking about since this was such a success season 2 100% will get more budget and there will be more Green Lantern stuff compared to season 1 since John will be in Man of Tomorrow doing Green Lantern Stuff.

Loved the show and reaction. Some of these responses are just moronic, they want Guy to start a fight with John in a town that was almost destroyed by a Green Lantern and a Manhunter. Im sure Guy wants to do more damage to the town and show the Lanterns in more of a bad light. Bad Optics. It seemed Noah was helping Sinestro in getting the items needed to forge a Lantern as a dead planet prolly doesn't have the items needed to build a Lantern. John wasn't being mean to Guy as if it was something personal, he wanted Guy to take the message to the Guardians and Guy was being difficult about it. I think John knows Guy isnt a bad guy considering what he did in the Superman movie but he still is a lapdog to the Guardians cause he wants to keep that ring no matter what. Its funny that this show has gotten great ratings and helped bring the Green Lantern to the mainstream instead of being a joke like what Ryan Reynolds has been doing the last 15 years to the Green Lantern brand. Still "fans" get all pissed off about an adaptation. I say so what if the show alienates 50% of the green lantern "fans", its bringing more new fans into the light and im glad to see the green lantern ins something else thats good and its not only the JL cartoon or the animated series. Bring on Man of tomorrow next summer and then season 2. It just sucks DC fans cant be happy that something is out and getting good ratings and having critical acclaim. They have to be miserable cause Hal isnt exactly like the comic or something doesn't measure up to their own imagination. Its always has to be this way and any other way just sucks. They are miserable and they have to have others be miserable as well. When i was a kid i used to dream about all these live action tv shows and movies about my dc heroes, thats not just about Superman or Batman. Now we are getting that and its bitch bitch bitch about the most random stuff. Sucks being a fan sometimes.
