Chris said they don't let John Stewart do anything. He actually gets more focus in the second season and JLU.

Mongul is easily one of Superman's best villains in both brain and brawn, courtesy of his creators: the late, great Len Wein (RIP) and Jim Starlin (who created Thanos). Also, yeah John Stewart isn't great in this show. Way better in Unlimited. He actually does constructs in Unlimited.

I’ve been watching through the show fully for the first time ever in my life since I’ve only ever seen clips and whatnot throughout my life; I’m now halfway through the second season and man. Every time I come back to y’all’s reactions to the show It’s kinda crazy how much better Season 2 is than Season 1 😭

SundayRundown: Hawkgirl and John Stewart hanging out could not be more opposite in how they go about things and I love their teamups. John is so regimented and by the book. Hawkgirl is "hit 'em with my mace and THEN ask questions." And I have the same issue with Superman in these early episodes- always running face first into a fist or a huge blaster even when there's nobody to shield with his body. Come on dude, learn what the words "evasive action" mean :-).

Yeah. When people talk about how great JL/U is they're usually talking about season 2 onwards. Not that S1 is bad per se, it's still good, but not as good lol.

Don't worry Martian Manhunter will get more moments to shine. Though I always felt like the show could have done so much more with him and his abilities lol 🤔.

2026-10-24 11:00 Yeah no season is well-known for them being the weakest season, as it is was a trial and error of them figuring out how to balance all these characters and tell epic stories. Therefore, season 2 is where the fixed all the cracks and or addressed criticisms 🤔.

Yea for some reason HBO gets cartoon episodes wrong all the time for season 2 and JLU I recommend using IMDB episode order

#SundayRundown!! Great reactions!! Love how most of you are familiar with Mongul. Suraj is right about Martian Manhunter sometimes feeling like he's thrown under the bus. He's very powerful so the writers probably had to find ways to... sideline him sometimes... sadly. He still gets plenty great moments to come
