Chris, Suraj, and Rana present their review and reaction to One Piece: East Blue Episode 129, "Pirate Vivi?" AKA "It All Started On That Day! Vivi Tells the Story of Her Adventure!" , as well as Episode 130 "Stowaway" AKA "Scent of Danger! The Seventh Member is Nico Robin!!" ---------------------------------------------------------------- Episode 129 Summary Bon Clay and his crew attempt to protect the Straw Hats from Hina, and sacrifice themselves to serve as a diversion. Vivi has Igaram stand in for her at her speech, and tells the Straw Hats that she cannot travel with them, but she hopes she will still be seen as their friend if they meet again. Unable to acknowledge her vocally without her being branded a criminal, the crew shows the marks on their arms as a sign of their friendship. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Episode 130 Summary The Marines fail again to catch the Straw Hats. After escaping from the Marines, Nico Robin (Ms. All Sunday) appears from inside of the Straw Hats ship. She manages to persuade the crew to let her join. Pell, who's survive from the bomb's explosion, seen at the end of the episode standing over his own grave. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Acknowledgement One Piece is an original series written by Oda Eiichiro. Rana: “So nobody dies in this show.” Now she’s getting it. Yeah characters in OP might as well have the DeathDealing because nothing is fatal to them(aside from flashbacks) I strongly believe the reason Igaram survived the explosion that was caused by Robin is because Oda probably felt it would’ve felt weird to have her join the crew if she really did kill him. Nobody knows for sure why Pell survived and is one of the most controversial fake out deaths in OP. Lots of fans out there actually want to see him get killed off in OPLA for making them get emotional for nothing.

That Nico Robin spoiler, bruh... anyway! I'm so happy you finally got to officially meet the next member of the crew, best girl herself! She's been my absolute fave OP character ever since I was a child, and to this day she's still one of my fave fictional characters of all times. Nico Robin is very dear to me for many reasons, so I can't wait to see how you will react to her presence! She has a lot to say, in her own way. And yes, she's 28 years old (aka the only adult in this gaggle of teens lmao). Luffy is 17 Zoro is 19 Nami is 18 Usopp is 17 Sanji is 19 Chopper is 15 Vivi is 16 And about Vivi, it's very sad to say goodbye! She wasn't on the ship for that long, and yet she leaves such a positive impact. It's perfectly in character for such e dedicated person to sacrifice her own desires, prioritizing her duty to the kingdom. Both her and Karoo will always be members of the Straw Hat Crew, even from far away! They will be missed.

fun fact: when Bon clay(Mr 2) say Oh come my way, it means Okama way. Okama means cross dresser. In the story, okama culture is portrayed more as an exaggerated, proud philosophy of living authentically, embracing both masculine and feminine traits, and rejecting rigid societal binaries. Also don't rely on Robin powers too much, she is strong but each body part she sprouts is a weakness too, if you hit even 1 she will feel the pain so she can't just spam it all the time. She can sprout ANY part of her body, eyes, mouth, ears, nose

On that note, I told you it was a fatal mistake to watch the opening before the arc was over but it made the reaction funny at least.

In case you don't know the next canon episode is 144. Though the very end of 143 has canon stuff as well, i think it's recapped at the start of 144 though. Alabasta is a great Saga and concluding arc. Also Robin is such a fun person, she knew exactly what to do for each person to get their acceptance

#SunRun Okama is Japanese slang for cross dresser. So Bon Clay's motto 'Oh come my way', is a play on words for the Okama way. He is walking his own path, the path of the cross dresser.

I'm actually really glad you guys decided to just watch the OP. It's honestly not that big of a deal, so don't stress out too much about it. Anime fans like to make a big deal out of nothing for when it's "safe" to watch an OP, despite there being WAY worse things you guys could have been spoiled on.

Actually rewatch the scene for Ingram. I think his death was always suppose to be a fake out. Pells on the other hand… I got nothing for you on that lol. Oda can write really great moments and then undercut for no reason at all. Good thing there not to many of them but yah. Oda he’s my goat by still.

zoan fruit users have the best durability and recovery after logia that being said it was def a fake out but i think mainly because oda has big plans for his characters who knows we might get a great pirate war one day and we might need someone that can fly

Is it hilarious to see the couch ignore all warnings and bulldoze through the opening, freaking out when they get spoiled? Yes. But does it suck to then have what would be the surprising moment happen in the show, only for the crew to sarcastically go "Oh look. It's that thing we don't know about. Such wow. Very surprise."? YES. 🙄 Also, did Navi and Marketa not know about the title, or did they also warn you about that, which you also ignored? 😂 Pell's return is the first time I became TRULY pissed at a character I liked being alive. 😆 Wouldn't be the last time of course, since death-baiting is a thing in many anime, but boy howdy does it happen a lot in OP! At least this makes the rare times when it happens for real VERY significant - like with Bellmère - but it's not worth all the fake-outs.
