Ubel thought using basic spells is boring and an insult to magic. Notice how each of the other mages had unique elements or spells.

For a new show, I'd love to see Dungeon Meshi / Delicious In Dungeon. It is a very character driven show that gave me the same vibes I had with Frieren, (Definitely less bittesweet though.) with some characters that seem to be on the spectrum that I'd love to hear your thoughts on. It also has very detailed world building about monsters and how a society would function with them around so if you've got an interest in that, it will appeal to you. If you do watch it, make sure to have snacks handy. I don't know about others but it made me very hungry. P.S I don't know where to recommend shows but I won't do this again.

Ubel doesn’t really mind or is offended in any way by Fern only using basic spells. Ubel is not a flashy mage for the sake of being flashy, but she’s rather more utilitarian. What’s really happening is Ubel wants to see unique spells to see if the mage is worth studying. There’s not much to learn and decide if Fern is worth trying to empathize with if Fern is only using basic spells. Wirbel however, is basically doing the world a favor by having Ubel empathize with Wirbel and teaching her hesitate to kill.

he has a group chat room called "suggestions for future shows" so best place would be there.

Alrighty, I'll post this over there too then.

I just started watching Delicious in Dungeon last night and was thinking the same thing!
