DONT THINK WE DIDNT SEE YOUR HANDS THERE WHEN SASHA SAID SIX OR SEVEN WEEKS AGO

LikelyMeme

I appreciate the 67 drop

Jack

Not Rick's PTSD from hearing Judith cry when he found out Lori died😭

Juhoe

i think Glenn feeling like that during the scene at the highway was less about him feeling like the kid wanting to participate. his mind was playing all those scenarios of what the governor COULD'VE done to her and the culmination of that. feeling of helplessness seeing your partner like that in the situation that they were in. even tho Maggie said it didn't happen. the mind still runs and runs. in my opinion

Vamwolf 77

I was on the fence regarding Axel until a blink-and-you-miss-it moment during the very last scene. When Rick starts yelling, Axel reaches out and pulls Carol out of danger and steps between her and Rick. He's no coward and he wanted to protect his friend

DanLand Saga

Do these people not have eyes? They can clearly see he is talking and looking up at the 2nd story talking to no one but they just all assumed he is talkign to the group even tho he never looked at them? Dumb

Redan

Fun fact, Greg nicotero, the guy who does the zombie makeup on the show, was a walker in many episodes but he shows up in this episode at around the 32 minute mark of the patron video as that last zombie in Woodbury that Andrea had to reload to put down. He was also the walker that killed Amy (Andreas sister) in season 1.

courtney 🧚🏽‍♀️

no one really mentions how maggie caught at least 2-3 bodies in one night. her first kill was the guy outside where they were being held she killed him with the bone glenn took from the walker. it’s never explicitly said but that could be affecting her temperament after they got daryl (on top of what already happened with the governor). merle doesn’t know when to shut up. he’s always taunting people and running his mouth. and oh look andreas being an idiot AGAIN surprise surprise 🙄 she’s always wanted power and to be in charge. she’s rather stay in woodbury bc she has some type of authority. it’s pathetic imo honorable mention…hershel saying that to glenn about almost losing him 😭 he’s really taken him on as his son and it’s so beautiful. even when he gave him the watch, the growth hershel has gone through ugh my heart 🥺 i felt so bad for rick. but like hershel said it’s barely been a week. rick was gone mentally for at least 2-3 days so he’s only been “okay” for a couple days. no wonder he slipped back into psychosis so easily and started seeing lori. but think about it…the last time people wanted to join them lori died so her popping up kind of makes sense. he’s scared and rightfully so.

PJ H

True but he's acting crazy as hell while meeting the new ppl, id run out too lol

DanLand Saga

Okay but no one in his own group says like who are you talking to??

Charlyn

What I really like about the end of this ep is its a suchh a real depiction of what could happen, yes in an ideal world Rick would be rational in his thinking and decision making but he's grief stricken its been less than a week since Lori died, horrifically at that and there was no body so lack of closure no proper burial for her, he's sleep deprived, dehydrated, dealing with why the prison was overrun leading to the death of lori and t dog, oscar died the guy is doing relatively well imo, Shane lost his mind from shooting Otis alone

Luke Fitton

Not gonna lie I forgot how much of a skilled fighter Maggie is here, between this episode and the last one I think she’s already killed 3 living people up to this point. Also Beth is a great character too. Their whole family is just awesome.

Skyler

Rick will have his ups & downs throughout his eras. But that man carries so mcuh on his shoulders, I always feel for him during this era. His mind never turns off with keeping his people safe, Lori died not even a weeka go with no time to grieve, had to save Glenn & Maggie, finds out about a neighboring group being a threat, Daryl leaving, lack of sleep/food/water etc. I do not blame him for seeing things & gong a little crazy at this point. I love his character sm. AND never forget to appreciate Andrew Lincoln for his performance, he made the perfect Rick Grimes!

Sussie

I’m finding it hard to comment cause I am scared of saying too much and blurt out spoilers! But, gotta say I love your analyzing the characters. Carol and Daryl. (I can add now Daryl is one of my fav characters.) It was hard to see him go. Maggie and Glenn... And then we have Rick. He is still grieving Lori and was then thrust into the rescuing and losing Daryl to Merle. I think he’s just trying to keep it all together… and then these new people out of nowhere… no, he’s not doing to well… They’re all traumatized but in different ways. Yeah. Hershel is a voice of reason.

Jaynellen

Rick is really reeling right now. He is yelling at Lori, but everyone thinks that he is yelling at Tyreese, Sasha, Allan, and Ben. Hershel is the heart and soul of this group, love him so very much. Carol is just amazing, she has such compassion.

Isabel

Glenn definitely doesn't fit the role of the kid wanting to participate, since he's been the guy that was sent to do all the dangerous jobs from the beginning (supply run, walker in the well etc.), so the group never saw him as that either. He is upset and his anger is controlling him, because his girlfriend was brought to the governor and he's imagining worse case scenario of what happened that's why he's saying "but my girlfriend was?". I don't think Glenn's arc ever "portrayed" him as a kid, for a while he just didn't realise that the group always chose him to be put in danger (so opposite of being seen as a kid) and Maggie taught him that. The kid that wants to be involved arc is definitely Carl.

Isabel

Also Maggie is upset bc Glenn is speaking on her behalf, telling Rick if he knows what the Governor did to Maggie . She didn't want it to be discussed at this moment.

Isabel

Oh definitely a compliment to his skills! I wouldn’t put his struggle with his anger on him being young tho as we see older characters struggle with emotions. I think he is just focusing on his anger right now and not really seeing Maggie and how she feels, which tbf is a reaction I see often in men (sorry) when a partner, daughter etc. tells them something like this happened. My comment was mainly to say that Glenn is definitely not upset that he wasn’t included, he’s understandably upset because of what happened to Maggie

Stash Barber

so that's the infamous 67 drop? i don't think it's even appropriate what popped into my head when i saw him do that... i'll just say juggle.

AJ

I just started the episode, but "I spoke too soon about that degenerate horrible person" is SENDING MEEE 🤣

courtney 🧚🏽‍♀️

all facts! there are so many factors contributing to rick’s mental and physical state. he was SO close to saying yes. but i can’t blame him either hes been through so much back to back and hasn’t really had a moment to breathe bc he’s the leader and everything lands on him. he always has to be together and he’s human so a person can only take so much before he breaks. honestly the fact he lasted this long speaks volumes. he is a strong and good man and i hated watching him going through this. they def don’t have the time for it which sucks bc of everyone dying and leaving or being injured like you said smh just SO much all the time 😭

Reaction Therapy

That part confused me too, it was clear he was t even talking directly to them

So Beth was never married to her boyfriend Jimmy from the farm. She said before that they dated for 3 months. I don't think Carol was that creeped out by Axel. She got a little giggle from him after she realized that he wasn't a pervert and how he thought she was a lesbian and then flirted with her when he found out she wasn't. I was glad that Carol wasn't mad at Daryl for leaving and she understood why he did. She still respects him and cares about him and doesn't allow his decision to affect how she feels about him, or herself, for that matter.

Dave Canon

It’s so powerful. That scene at the end. That stress/pressure is a trigger for Rick. With everything that has happened recently. Losing Lori. Losing t-dog. Thinking carol is gone and then getting her back. Having a newborn baby. Daryl leaving. Merle back. A new group of people appears out of nowhere. Rick’s mind is fracturing. Cracking.

Amy J

I mean, Merle is the only one here spilling the tea so that's actually kind of useful for now 🤣 albeit annoying!

Amy J

Poor Rick is having a psychotic break, I think he was going to let those people stay but unfortunately that happened instead... I hope they can fix this misunderstanding 🫣

Elliot

You make me laugh every intro now Tom haha.

Elliot

Some of the writing for Rick annoys me at times. Seeing a ghost for eg. Just silly really.

Sherry Bandito

Thanks as always! Sidenote Beth , the 17 year old wasn’t married to Jimmy. He was her boyfriend though

[Oh I wrote a whole comment out and then didn't hit post, man the wonders of internet cookies (and reloading tabs) saving my unposted comment is amazing. Said comment being] : I wonder how differently this whole season would've gone if Rick hadn't gotten triggered in that exact moment from Judith's crying. Being vague to avoid any spoilers, but I think things would've gone differently (not necessarily in a good or bad way, just a different way than the one we eventually will get) if Sasha, Tyreese, and co. hadn't been scared away from the prison by a "Sorry no marbles remain here" Rick. I think the combined stress of the trauma trigger and having to be faced with a decision that could potentially put the group in danger (choosing to take these strange survivors in or not) just caused him to snap all over again. ;A; Poor Dude. I bet everyone was scared AF in that moment, Rick moreso of course.

Thia

I love Daryl reclaiming his crossbow and then just dancing away😂 He’s so cool!

WillDaBeast Grasslands

It's really not that far fetched at all. Being sleep deprived, malnurished, possibly dehydrated like Tom said, that is completely normal. Your brain will show you all kinds of weird stuff when you're running on fumes. Not to mention the stress.

Zak Lewis

it was an SMG not an AR

Driver ED

@1:54 Hollywood has never really shown a clear understanding of proper gun usage (except for John Wick maybe). We should ask Alec Baldwin to explain why.

TBONEHULK

OKAY DUDE NOT THE 6- 7 😂😂😂😂😂

I think it could've scared and confused them and they didn't know what to do or how or who to react to, especially since Rick usually doesn't get aggressive like this around Hershel, and Carl looked scared and confused. Normally Hershel can get through to him and be a beacon of wisdom, but his psychosis and trauma aren't letting his mind see clearly or further ahead, especially coming from an intense level of pain, suffering and grief. Plus he even has triggers from his baby crying that are a reminder of what happened to Lori, which also has to be hard on his heart and mind as a parent to a newborn in the zombie/walker apocalypse. Full disclosure, I have schizoaffective disorder, and even though I've never been a danger or threat to anyone or myself, it still can be scary for the person themselves to talk to or confront you when you're in active psychosis, even when you're not aggressive or acting crazy. And it can be even more tough to approach someone when you haven't been around someone that experiences psychosis and don't know what to expect, especially when it becomes difficult to rationalize with the person in psychosis. Another guess is that since they've all been through trauma day after day, and haven't had time for any breaks to sleep, food to eat properly, take a break in general, always needing to be hyper aware of danger and death, they probably haven't had time to make that connection yet. And all of this happening in a very short period of time. They can tell something is off but probably have no idea where to start or how to help him cope (or maybe this very moment is the first time they put it together and realize, okay, something very wrong is happening here and I don't want to get in his way - especially if he's yelling at people that aren't really there and getting aggressive towards the newbies). They are doing the best they can, and some of them just got back from going through hell with Merle and the governor, so still trying to figure out what is even going on anymore. Those are my guesses and takes anyways lol. Could definitely be wrong but as someone with experience with this, I can see why they and Rick acted and responded the way they did. It was probably just really scary and confusing to them.

"This is a world where you only become more of who you are." hits so hard.

Think the fascinating thing about this era and these hallucinations is something I only picked up on recently. Every time he hallucinates he’s either actively trying to protect his people from threat (Shane with the gun hallucination) or when hes faced with the weight of the responsibility on his shoulders which he feels he’s failing at (this is when he is faced with Lori, his biggest failure in his eyes). He was saying yes to Hershel and he’d reconsidered but the second he did he hallucinated his biggest loss that he blames himself for. With the phone calls he had just found out about Lori, and he hears the baby crying - the most vulnerable of the group who is his child that he must protect - so he goes on a rampage, killing walkers. He hadn’t even been able to protect Lori’s body, which was taken by that one walker. And then the phone calls he’s being confronted with everyone he’s lost or failed, begging for a place that no longer exists - safety. Somewhere safe enough for his kids so he can’t lose anyone else. It’s so sad but so well done.
