Man, I had forgotten how good season 3 was. Gov was toned down from the comics for the show. Instead of Maggie being kidnaped Gov rapes Michone for days and cuts Rick hand off during the stay at Wudberry.

YOU JUST GET IT TOM! every time you analyze this show its so on point and educational. i think merle and daryl have a trauma bond. as you know some people who are abused have a hard time leaving their abuser. but since they've been split daryl has got stronger especially mentally which is why he was able to leave merle. also i was shook when axel got killed smh the governor is crazy end of story.

Gotta love Michonne. As soon as she sees the firefight is over, does she go to the safety of the prison walls and the group ? Nope, it's straight to Herschel, who's vulnerable. She barely knows these people at this point but when she sees someone in danger, she goes to protect them at a dead run through a field full of walkers. One of the many reasons she's in my top 5 favorite characters

I really think the reason Glenn felt like he had to ask Maggie about what the Governor did to her was because he kept imagining what had happened instead of knowing the truth. His mind was going through all the possibilities of what could’ve happened in that room, and it was driving him into a rage.

I think I said earlier this season that one of the earlier episodes is my favorite from this season but upon reflection I think it might be this one. There are a lot of moments in this episode that are golden: Rick dealing with his grief about losing Lori. Maggie standing up for herself and calling Glenn out on making the situation about his feelings, however unintentional it was on his part. Axel starting to relax and trust in the group to the point that he reveals a lie he told the group to Carol and learning that he didn't even bring a real gun to his robbery. Daryl standing up for his morals and up against Merle. Beth stepping in to support Maggie, while also being mindful of taking things at the pace Maggie sets things too. Hershel trying to reach out to Rick. And as horrifically tragic as it is, Axel getting shot while casually talking to Carol. Merle showing up with Daryl to help defend the prison. Hershel's "Yes baby." when Maggie asks him if he's okay ;A; This is one of my favorite Daryl episodes. I love that they gave him the chance to talk back to Merle and hold him accountable for his actions. I love that we see that Merle actually cares about Daryl, in his own messed up way, and that there was instant guilt on his face when he saw that Daryl had been abused by their father after he left. I think it's interesting that even after all all the abuse Merle went through that he wasn't willing to kill his father, he would rather leave before he was driven to kill him. I think Axel is one of those men who is completely unaware of how his presence makes others, especially women, feel. I think he was being honest when he said he thought Beth was older than she actually is and was oblivious about how his actions were coming across, and I don't think he realized how creepy it was when he instantly pushed interest towards Carol upon learning he had wrongly assumed she was a lesbian. This isn't to say that excuses his actions, I think you're right in that Axel was just a simple minded man who had potential for a lot of growth. His death makes me sad, I think given with enough time Axel would've grown into a stronger man and become a close-knit member of the group.

Daryl is probably more willing to help people in need because he wishes he was there to dave his mom from the fire or wishes someone could've helped her.

The scene where Merle expects something in return is rage inducing, the only 'help' he provided was to protect his brother, not that Daryl really needed his help. If anyone deserved a gesture of gratitude it was Daryl, but I doubt he would accept even if they'd offered him something. That family owed Merle absolutely nothing because he didn't actually do anything to help them.
