It’s interesting seeing the debates that fans have all these years since this episode was released about whether Rick was in the right to kick out Carol when and how he did. Or whether he should’ve at all. It sucks seeing another original character go but hey, at least she’s alive. I respect how well she was able to accept Rick’s decision.

David Guerrero

The real virus going around is the Shane virus xD

Ah man this ending always makes me tear up a bit. Rick looking back in his mirror waiting for carol to show up. And “serpents” playing. Pure perfection

Vamwolf 77

First of all, Rick didn't give Carol all the stuff they found; she took the couple's car and the supplies that were in it, plus a half-full gas can. Now, don't misunderstand me, I don't agree with Carol's logic but I do understand it. What pisses me off about the situation is that Rick has spent the entire season saying "I'm not the leader, I can't be the leader, I don't want to be the leader, there's a council now," but when it comes down to this huge decision, Mr. "I'm not your governor " acts on his own without asking anyone. That comes a little too close to "rules for thee but not for me" than I'm comfortable with. Rick knows it, too, and that's why he couldn't meet his own eyes in the rearview mirror. Would exile be the most probable outcome if he had taken it to the council? Yes. But that's what a government is for.

I know exactly which episode Tom will quit or take a break i wish him strength

Sherry Bandito

The guys name the Daryl is barking at over the liquor at the end his name is bob just in case no one else told you already👍🏻, bobs a really good character in my opinion

Gracie's Revenge

I hope he doesn't. I've seen a couple reactors just quit watching, for no reason at all to pursue other shows and that is so frustrating lol. We pay to watch with them, and I'm happy to do so. There have been a few really good reactors finish to the end, then do other long shows too like Game of Thrones (equally as hard, for different reasons). It's great to experience these shows again with a reactor you love. I hope Tom sticks it out, you can love the show right up to the end for sure, I know I do. And I really just want to hear a lot of his takes on so many of the people and scenarios coming up all through the rest of the series. No other mental health professionals have done it and it's a really unique, interesting thing to watch.

Amy J

Daryl has never been hotter than that moment squaring up to Bob 😳🫣 lord have mercy 😳🤣

Amy J

Carol's banishment is so sad, what she did was very wrong but this really should have been a democratic decision, Rick may regret this 😢

Gracie's Revenge

Carol truly loves Lizzie and Mika. I think she only acted that way when Lizzie called her mom because firstly, it caught her off guard, and secondly the last person she heard call her that was Sophia. I think she will never, at this point, let any kid call her that again, because it is a sacred thing to her, a title for her lost daughter to use. Or maybe she doesn't feel like she deserves to be called 'mom' again. It's complex I think. She's not trying to push Lizzie away and 'not attach' to her, I think you were off the mark that time. I just think it has everything to do with Sophia. And Carol is so adament about trying to make these kids 'tough' and 'ready' for anything right now, because she feels guilty and horrible that Sophia was weaker and not ready and couldn't protect herself. Carol is desperate to give these kids a fighting chance should something ever happen; she wants them to survive, whereas her daugher didn't.

Andrew R

Ehh Rick knew Carol would be killed by Tyrese. He gave her a chance.

Andrew R

Rick has to be my favorite character from any show or movie. The depth, complexity, and even contradiction written into him makes him such a compelling and realistic character. Andrew Lincoln's amazing acting is perfect for the part. I'd take Rick going rogue over Shane going rogue any day of the week.

Korivex

Rick packed up the car with supplies for Carol before they even left the prison. He knew what he was going to do, that is why he had those 'Dexter knives' and all of that gear. He kept the meds that he and Carol got on that run though.

Korivex

She took all the stuff Rick had packed up before they left the prison too... the 'Dexter knives' and all of that gear he had... he packed that for her cuz he knew he was going to send her away.

Love Sharon van etten

"i actually convinced myself I was happy with him. Which wasn't all that hard to do considering my idea of happiness then was just not being alone." In which Carol sums up my 15 year relationship with my ex-husband in a few sentences lmao 💀 I really love this scene Carol has with Rick. My favorite bit from this interaction is when Carol talks about how back then she thought she wasn't strong, but really she'd been strong all along, she just didn't see it at the time. I think a lot of people are like this, especially women. A lot of my female friends feel like they're weak, and I think that leads to a lot of them being abused by men like Ed, since it makes them an easier target to abuse. I used to think I wasn't strong, it took many years for me to accept that I have strength though. Like even to this day I don't really understand why it was so hard for me to accept the inner strength that I do have and how that strength has helped me survive all throughout my life; maybe because it's so hard to see strong people go through traumatic events but I'm not fully certain if this is why.

Reaction Therapy

I love carols intent to make sure these children can protect themselves and make it in the world. The delivery is my concern. In other words, just because carol doesn’t intend to shame or make the children feel bad, doesn’t mean the children are unaffected….their brains won’t register her intention, they register the actual words, tone and body language she shows them. They can leave believing “I’m bad”, “I’m unloveable”, “I’m not capable”, “I’m weak” etc because of how their brains process

Lee Shafer

Unfortunately poor Lizzie is already damaged long before she ever entered the prison .

Brittany Lewandowski

I hate this episode lol Carol shouldnt have been kicked out, she did the right thing. She wasnt taking the law into her hands really. She just saw what the other kid did from the sickness and killing 8 people. She did what she had to. I dont understand what horrible about what she did, considering the last person died from this and killed a lot of people. They were gonna die and just kill more people.

Reaction Therapy

I agree, BUT, there was no discussion and that’s where this community could fall apart because anyone could decide to do the same and people might kill people because they think they should And I struggled with the teaching children to defend…not because it’s bad, but because she just did it and kept it secret. I think carol was one of the best and brightest of the group, but I think she felt like Rick wasn’t taking enough initiative to keep everyone safe😢

Duskk

im gonna miss carol :(

David Guerrero

Ah man that does sound frustrating all the development and build up just for like eh no. I do hope Tom sticks to it; I really do want to hear his insight on the more controversial characters and choices that are up the road in this show. Although I will still respect it, if it's too much.

David Guerrero

And depending on my day my opinion changes xD

Brittany Lewandowski

To be fair, Rick isn't in charge anymore; he isn't the leader, so he doesn't have to take initiative. The council is now the leader of the group. She also probably remembers how long it took them to decide abotu the prisoners, randall and knew there wasnt enoguh time for discussion given how it only took like 12 hours for that kid to die and kill almost 10 people.

Gracie's Revenge

Yep but we haven't really delved into that yet so I don't wanna mention anything and spoil anything for Tom

Gracie's Revenge

Oh I get it, she definitely may not be aware of a more nuanced way to say some of these things to the kids, but she definitely also does have good intentions and does want to raise the girls as her own. I think she just has certain limits (like them calling her Mom) that she HAS to, in her mind, cling to because they are too attached to the love and pain she has from losing her actual, biological child. Carol is an extremely complex character. There's actually a LOT of them in this show

Emoduckky

58:20 in a world where there are no wrecks to get in why are they wearing a seatbelt? Sir, you have seen Lori wreck and flip her car when she was the only driver on the road and in this set of episodes Daryl's group on the road almost doing the same thing when Daryl stopped looking at the road DX

DanLand Saga

Yeah man I can kinda tell also, as much as I understand people wanting Tom to finish because we are paying to see him do it. This show is such a drag sometimes and the repetitive let down is alot to take. Add in the "bad writting" my opinion of course, just makes it that much harder to continue so I would understand if he does stop, thats exactly why I stopped before also

Volt Dropz

Hello! This is my first comment here on Patreon, and I gotta say, I love the reactions! I discovered your YouTube channel not long ago, and now I'm here on Patreon. I was wondering if you're ever planning on reacting to Fear the Walking Dead in the future? Much love, peace out!

WillDaBeast Grasslands

I don't think she did the right thing at all. You shouldn't just kill people because they're sick, especially when you know nothing about the illness. People recovered from this illness, and Karen and David could have too. Also, killing the sick doesn't do anything to stop the illness from spreading. These diseases don't come from people, they come from the outside world. Kill all the sick people you want, you're still going to catch it eventually. Not to mention the issue of taking the initiative to just kill someone on your own, with no evidence of efficacy or communication. I'm sorry, but that is just simply a dangerous and harmful thing to do and let slide, no matter how good your intentions are. This was a horribly wrong decision.

Rosa

I think we all know what episode that is, but I hope he doesn’t give up!

Sussie

I don’t agree with what Carol did but as she saw it, at that time only Karen and Dave were sick, no one else and she thought by killing them she would stop it. Wrong of course but that was why she did it, trying to help them all. I said somewhere in season 2 that they all make mistakes/wrong choices… even ”our family” but I can’t hate her.

Brandon

😂 at 5:50 when you said Dexter knives lol, that was hilarious to me

Djp

Ion wanna be that guy or nun but you think carl killing that kid was fine but Carol killing the sick hoping it stops the spread is a lil to much? that comparison is pretty dead on carol killed the kid to protect the group and so did caryl. i cant believe shes pulling this card?? i cant believe YOUR pulling this card XD you make excuses when its carl when its rick but NOT caryl? try to make it the same for every one bro carl murders a KID in cold blood HEY hes protecting the group HEY... Hes my lil savage for the first like 5 season but MAN make it even/equal at least i know its hard when you simply see characters as your favorites or what not, but you gotta try n keep in mind what ur saying about other characters and have none of the same thoughts for another

Djp

any show or movie?

Djp

I dont get the hate on bob from every one he MAY have done some stupid shit by not even having any meds but he jsut wants a sip at the end of the day why is that a bad thing?

Djp

Not you but I never understood the "TRUE hate" on Bob. i understand not liking what he did in that moment but a LOT of people low key "hate" him the whole time cus of it.. LIKE GUYS its the END OF THE WORLD he just wants a sip at the end of the day

Djp

carol had an andrea moment is wild XD

There is are three important things that come into her actions that get looked over. Herschel SAID we need to get rid of those hogs so it doesn't spread Rick killed the pigs to try and stop it and drew the walkers away Carol had two girls she loved and the rest of the children she desperately wants to protect and that moment at the fence with Lizzy and Mica she sadly resigns to do the same to the two who were sick. I'm not in agreement with her decision But the way she is thinking and processing at the time make perfect sense that when Rick was faltering and the group was uncertain. Carol's logic doesn't follow to kill the entire cell block like you said. Because the attempted solution didn't work the first time. She feels bad about it, she doesn't like what she did but she tried and in the apocalypse she has seen over and over the failure of decisions people made including her own guilt of being weak. She sees regret as not serving anymore, to cut off that pain and self-destruction of guilt. She feels it but she has to move on depite it and she has to live and believe Lizzy will live because to think otherwise she would sink Again not in agreement with her but I totally understand her logic and decision. I truly love Carol and I hope you come around ^^

Patrick

I think Carol killing off Karen and David was not the right call. she didn't know how it was going to end. rushed things. didn't tell anyone before calling it and kept it a secret. people might call it she did the right thing but keeping it as secret and blame them they could be a threat is a sorry excuse.

Demceez

I don't see her logic at all.. Karen and David were already isolated. They live in a prison where isolation is actually pretty simple and easy.. literally no reason to kill and burn them what so ever.. exact same outcome killing them or not killing them, but not killing them just introduces the chance they may have survived. To me, that doesnt follow logically

Thia

I need a fan 😊🪭

Thia

@Demceez Same, it was just bad writing. Carol would kill to protect the group but she’s not stupid. For the reasons you stated - it would have just been stupid.

...when I say logic I mean the logic of her traumatized fight or flight brain and listening to what Herschel said/what Rick did. You can understand why something makes sense to a damaged brain without condoning it. This isn't the logic of a healthy brain in normal circumstances. When studying abnormal psychology you have to learn why people think the way they do in those circumstances with damage or underdeveloped areas. You have to understand*their logic and reasoning* Given the circumstances, her trauma and what information she has along with the actions of Rick and the advice of Herschel it make sense for her character to take those actions. Why did she take the hand grenade at the begining of season one. Think about it. She kept it *just in case* she fel she might need it to protect herself and Sofia, and possibly others but I believe at that time she was mostly thinking about her and Sofia. And not trusting this stranger to keep this dangerous explosive. That's a part of her character, she trusted herself with it more than a cop who had saved half the group, but do you think she knew how to use it? Probably not...I'd bet a lot of money she had no idea how to use it, but she was willing to try. That violence could save her girl and only she could be trusted with it. She took it and put it in her purse just in case with the intention to use it if she needed it. From the very begining her moral reasoning was skewed but it makes perfect sense in Carol logic. I don't know if you all have seen the entire series but imo the writers only screw with her a couple times. This to me wasn't one of those times. This was revisiting and revealing her using the grenade

Terrance

The backup generators in the prison provide the electricity. The same one's that Andrew turned on to activate an alarm way back when in season 3.

Calaj

We all took a break after that episode, it took me months to come back after that 😭
