In today's ebook update I'm giving instructions on the use of four software apps that will help you forecast your Milky Way alignment with an earthly foreground.
I’m often asked which of the three major photography planning apps are best: PhotoPills, The Photographer's Ephemeris (TPE) or Planit Pro? They each have their strong points. TPE has been around the longest (since 2009). PhotoPills came out in 2013 with better planning for the Milky Way, so I gravitated to it. TPE has since caught up and is stronger in other areas. Planit is the "new kid on the block," with some advanced features. I will not provide examples on how to use TPE; instead, I have decided to demonstrate the use of two astronomy apps, Sky Guide and Stellarium, to forecast your Milky Way alignments.
Planning redundancy: I alway plan with at least two apps to check my plan for accuracy. Whether you use PhotoPills, TPE or Planit, you should consider using an astronomy app like Sky Guide or Stellarium to double check your plans.
Although a review of TPE is not included in this ebook update, it may be in a future edition. If you're a strong advocate of TPE, let me know why you think it should be included in a future update.
