Preparing for the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024 (Patreon)
Content
Are you ready? The above sequence is from the 2017 total eclipse that I took on August 21 over the Grand Tetons. I gave a workshop and spent two years in preparation for that day!
This year, I'll be in Texas with my family, and I'm going to spend most of my efforts helping my children and grand kids enjoy the wonders of the amazing event. We booked our airline tickets, hotel rooms and rental cars over a year ago! Hopefully, you've also made physical preparations well in advance for this special day.
Photographic preparations for the eclipse. Here are four (4) great links to help you prepare photographically for the eclipse:
5 TIPS to to help you get the most out of your total eclipse experience - a 10-minute B&H video by Mike Shaw.
2-hour webinar on photographing the 2024 total eclipse - presented by Mike Shaw at the Minnesota Astronomical Society.
Countdown of the key eclipse events as they come in quick succession - this is a 4-minute simulation using The Photographer's Ephemeris (TPE) as it goes through all 4 contact periods of the eclipse (C1 through C4). Prepare to get excited! Note: stay connected, and TPE developer, Stephen Trainor, will take you through a 90-minute webinar on preparing for the eclipse.
Solar Eclipse Timer - a $2.00 app for Android or Apple that geolocates, calculates contact times, and then "TALKS" you through the eclipse.
